Francis Ford Coppola.

Is hard to believe the same director of the Godfather films and Apocalypse Now is also the same director of stuff like Twixt.

says more about newsweek tbhf

coppola due to old age
mel gibson cuz jews

can't think of another one who was just bad

That one pedo director who's been living in France for the last 30 or so years because if he ever leaves he'd get arrested and charged with fuggin a kid.

probably not but there have been a fair amount of other directors JUSTing themselves. wachowskis, ridley scott and oliver stone for example

he has kept making well-received movies tho

and in central yurop fucking children is just part of their culture

Michael Cimino

Jesus christ this. Cage was right to drop coppola from his name when he started acting.

pretty popular in britain too - the posh elite and the mudslime immigrants are both kiddy diddlin

But Cimino did amazing movies, just not for everyone

>Has there ever been a bigger fall from grace director wise?

Have you ever seen his movies? If so you would know about the twist which flips everything upside down.
Maybe his career was his biggest blockbuster to date with the biggest twist! This man is a genius!

12/10 Em Night Shy Mah Larn

>Minds just got blown

What about the guy who made Silence of the Lambs? He hasn't done anything since

...its almost like there were extenuating circumstances involved relating to what had just happened with his wife.

Every few years people get to gether to have the charges against him dropped.

Actually, Spielberg himself has had a pretty big fall from grace in my opinion.

so if your preggo wife is killed, you are in your moral right to rape children?

i didnt know this

he still know how to pander to audiences

and people just eat that lincoln movie up

>mel gibson cuz jews

The last film the fuhrer directed was his best. What do you mean?

>philadelphia
>manchurian candidate
>a movie with justin timberlake

dude...

he cant get backing
writers cant work with him without risk of blacklisting
big name actors cant work with him without the press linking them to antisemitism
only jsw darlings can give still help him (like Foster)

but he still knows how to direct. Last time I watched Cristal Skull I had literally zero interest in plot and characters and enjoyed the first half hour like a motherfucker, just because how well shot it is.

mctiernan and coppola have had much bigger falls than shyamalan

I don't get the big deal about Shalamalamas "fall". He had one ok hit and then started doing shit. Not like there aren't dozens of guys like him.

Martin Scorsese

But you are literally wrong

imdb.com/title/tt2119532/

maybe his sentence is up

yet it hasnt even come out yet and if you missed all the shenanigans that literally put brakes on his career since The Passion, you shouldnt even be here

2 hits and 3 critically acclaimed

>mctiernan
fuck, I forgot about him...

>put brakes on his career since The Passion

Apocalypto came out after Passion.

His first film was a huge hit and is now iconic.

Signs is the only one after Sixth Sense that got anything close to critical acclaim.

so?

before it came out he already had said he couldnt get anything done in hollywood anymore

theguardian.com/film/2011/may/03/jim-caviezel-passion-of-the-christ

i truly wonder if you are just too young to remember or just retarded

>Hugo weaving
>same worthington
>Andrew Garfield

Interesting

unbreakable was well received, maybe not acclaimed tho

it still heralded the age of capeshit

I think you are just stuck in 2012 user

It's the current year. Based Mel is free from the kikes dirty tricks

>Have you ever seen his movies
Yes. Is this bait?

0/10

>Andrew "Box Office Poison" Garfield

theguardian.com/film/2016/jun/10/mel-gibson-passion-of-the-christ-2-resurrection

he will challenge them again. he aint giving up

>i decided to try the happening
>whatthefuckamiwatching

That's a sign of autism. You should get yourself checked

Are you doubting the fuhrer?

Shyamalamadingdong was good up until the Happening. I have no clue what anyone was thinking with that movie.

The Last Airbender movie was pretty good for trying to adapt a cartoon he clearly hasn't seen and/or doesn't understand why anyone enjoyed.

Coppola is still good, he obviously doesn't take on projects like Apocalypse Now anymore because of Apocalypse Now. Most of his 80s movies were good, The Godfather III was great, and I guarantee that 99% of those who shit on Twixt have never seen the movie. Tetro was great.

Spielberg has always been an inconsistent director. He has top tier projects like Duel, Jaws, Minority Report and War of the Worlds and shit ones like E.T., Schindler's List, and Catch Me If You Can. Most of his films were just middling like Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and Lincoln.

The truth is most directors who are quality directors are always quality directors, they just start making movies that no longer appeal to their original audience, and thus they receive negativity from that audience and are regarded as bad by all.

Never forget. One of my favorite action directors.

>He has top tier projects like Duel, Jaws, Minority Report and War of the Worlds and shit ones like E.T., Schindler's List, and Catch Me If You Can.

nice b8

at first you seemed to be actually serious bit then i caught up ahaha

She was 16. And all im saying i am willing to differentiate that from a guy driving around in a free candy van.

Godfather was never good.

I'm serious. Those are great movies on the left, especially Jaws, and shit ones on the right.

Unbreakable was great. I didn't know Shalamandong directed it.

...

Apologize

No.

(you)

Russo Bros

>makes winter solider
>go on to make the worst piece of crap of all time Civil War

I can't fucking stand how Spielgberg shoves terrible kid's acting in his movies.

>make Passion of the Christ
>get blacklisted for hating jews
>start making a comeback
>make Passion of the Christ 2: Gentile Boogaloo

He gives zero shits and its amazing

Let's get this over with
>Spielberg's Power List

Top tier
>Jurassic Park
>E.T.
>Schindler's List (it's not about the message it's about the movie and the story, dear Sup Forumstards)

E.T. (seriously fuck this movie, I hated it every time I had to watch when it rained during recess in grade school)
Bridge of Spies
Catch Me If You Can (Christopher Walken is cool though)

But he is correct that movie was garbage.

>using the memeword kino

yea not reading past that

>implying tier lists themselves aren't a meme

meh, Elysium and Chappie weren't that bad. Not good, but I wouldn't put him in a Shamalongdingdong class for falling.

He does have to apoligize soon.

I'm 30 yo and brwosing Sup Forums. What do you think?

>appreciating the art of film is autism according to Sup Forums

This is why y'all have shit taste

dont you ever wonder why the board is 90% GoT threads and capeshit?

No, but I didn't realize those people weren't being ironic

Are you implying it was bad?

I'm implying he oughta stop getting involved with sub par flicks and start working on what got us interested on him in the first place.

id rather have him make a netflix/amazon d9 sequel series

idgaf what anyone says, district 9 is scifi kino

interesting storytelling, fantastic sound/visuals, based as fuck mech scene

I kind of liked WotW, but Dakota Fanning screaming for half of the movie really put a damper on my enthusiasm.

13, actually. It's a significant difference but I personally don't really give a shit.

Herzog desu, hasn't made a good movie since Fitzcarraldo

>Shit Tier (hot garbage)

>War of the Worlds

Sorry, I missed the part when he was on a high place to fall from. When was that?

that the dude making those warcraft cosplay movies?
did he ever reach some "grace" to fall from?

Did we ever come to a concrete date as to when edgy stopped meaning nervous?

this is true

lotr was great and i even liked most of king kong, but the hobbit was (apart from a few things) fucking awful

>no Duel
>no Jaws

Roman Polanski

>duel

>George
>Ever good

His wife directed the first movie for him.

...

Heaven's gate was only for pseuds with shit taste

shut up nerd

Edgy has always been used to mean the way we use it, it's just a secondary and informal definition of it. Well maybe not always, but quite a times before Sup Forums anyway.

His documentaries are still GOAT. Narrative features kinda

...

How can Saving Private Ryan be a bad movie? It's not the greatest for sure, but it's a really good war movie and comfy af.

Extremely didactic, some of Spielberg's least interesting directing (aside from ET and CMiYC) and easily his worst script. Tom Hanks is a shit actor.

Top Tier
> Schindler's List
> Raiders of the Lost Ark
> Minority Report
> Munich
> Saving Private Ryan

Good Tier
> E.T.
> Jurassic Park
> Jaws
> Close Encounters Of The Third Kind

> Duel

Mid Tier

Movie's he's made but no one has ever seen:
> Sugarland Express
> Always
> 1941
> Duel

A fall from grace implies there was grace in the first place.
Deniro fell from grace. It's okay. His earlier performances are still there for us to rewatch. He has earned his right to sold out.

M. Night is more of a false positive. A mistake in judgement, an errouneous appreciation of one of his early films. Everything he has made has been shit except for that one film which was mediocre but got overrrrrrrrrrated.
I guess his films still make money to some people so he still gets that hollywood money. Good for him.

Late coppola is underated. Tetro and twixt were very interesting. The rainmaker is fantastic.
Also let's name more than 5 living american directors that have had a streak half as impressive as 1970s Coppo-
1970 : writes Patton
then directs
1972 The Godfather
1974 The Conversation
1974 Part II
1979 Apocalypse Now

A film can be considered a success if you make bank, enter cult classic and fanatic following, get critical acclaim or become a major artistic influence to a generation of your peers. He literally ticked all boxes with that decade. Also laying 2 golden eggs in a row is hard but fucking 5?

Extremely well made introduction, good characters and an enjoyable story. Do you mean didatic because they did a movie that really seemed like a real war?
