Normally in Basketball you get two free throws when fouled, you can get anywhere from 1-3 though. Over the course of the game it's easy to lose track of how many are due and how many have been taken at that instance. For some reason only one player was paying attention.

It's pretty simple imo.
>field is 100 yards long
>you get 4 chances to advance 10 yards, every new 10 yards you get an extra 4 chances
>if you can't do it, the other team gets the ball
>at the beginning of each play, the two teams line up in formation
>there's an invisible line called the "line of scrimmage" at the spot of the last tackle, you can't cross this line until the play begins
>the center hikes it to the quarterback in order to start the play
>he can throw/hand the ball to a teammate or simply run it himself
>the play ends when the ball carrier is tackled/scores, if the ball goes out of bounds, or if it's thrown and nobody catches it
>if you reach the endzone, you get 6 points (a touchdown) plus a chance to score either 1 (by kicking it through those goalposts) or 2 (by trying to run/pass it into the endzone
>if you don't think you can reach the endzone or you just want to score quickly, you can simply try to kick it through the goalposts and above the crossbar instead oft trying to reach the endzone. This counts for 3 points, and it explains Jozy Altidore's shooting technique.
If you have trouble remembering it all, just play some Madden or watch a few games.
