In my highschool, the janitor was a former student, he was a real friendly guy. He would talk to the students a lot, and if a kid said something about not doing their work or anything, he would ask them if they wanted to end up like him. I know at least a few kids were influenced by that. I wonder how much solace he took from that.
Trent also went on tour with Ministry in the early years, they used to torture the guy, but they took him on tour because their 8-track broke and trent wouldn't lend it to them without keeping an eye on it because it was a "gift from his grandmother"
