The thing that really makes KS stand out to me is that the girls aren't damsels in distress, in need of a savior, and the message that "you may not be whole, but you are not broken." I've played so many VNs where the whiteknight option is ALWAYS the correct choice. I was brain-dead picking for Hanako's route (first one I played) and got the bad ending. Made me take time to actually weigh my choices in the other routes, which made the game a lot more impactful.
