Is the recent Hawthorn team really one of the greatest of all time? Honestly, even if they win four in a row this year, I still wouldn't rate them. They've won three in a row, but winning three in a row isn't all that great of an achievement if you are a Victorian club. Hawthorn have had the luxury of playing the past three grand finals against interstate sides. Would they really have won all three if not for the fact that all three of their opponents were interstate teams? I think that their success is not the result of their 'greatness', but rather the result of the ineptness of the Victorian clubs around them. Switch West Coast, Sydney, and Fremantle with three Victorian clubs and I very much doubt that Hawthorn would have won all three of their past grand finals. This is highlited by Hawthorn's loss to Geelong last night. Remove Hawthorn's home ground advantage and I very much doubt that Hawthorn would have won all three grand finals. And they almost didn't even make two of those grand finals. Winning by 3 points against Port in the 2014 prelim and winning by 5 points against Geelong in the 2013 prelim. How could this team, who could have easily missed both 2013 and 2014 grand finals, be considered one of the greatest of all time, especially when they aren't even that dominant on-field? In my opinion, Hawthorn are simply a good, solid team whose recent success is mostly the result of circumstance, luck, and unfair advantages. certainly not 'one of if not the greatest team of all time'.

Port shat the bed at the end, but umpires robbed them of having a shot after the siren (probably would have kicked it, unlike the Hawk choker). Honestly think Port were the best team in the finals that year and once they were robbed Hawthorn got a free run in the Grand final.
