So where were you when Dana White and CM Punk concocted and executed the Final Boss level plan to finally and completely expose and de-legitimize professional wrestling and to topple the juggernaut that is World Wrestling Entertainment?
Everybody knows that the UFC started out as nothing more than baby "competition" for Vince McMahon and his company, but have since grown to be a titan themselves. Rumors and allegations of secret competition between the two "sports" have run rampant for years, but have been dismissed and avoided, yet we all know them to be true.
We all also know of the hostilities and animosity that the WWE and CM Punk share for each other. What better way to take down the company that scorned you than to expose to the world that top WWE stars and champions simply CANNOT compete in a UFC arena even against beginner fighters? Even the most autistic of man children wouldn't be caught dead arguing against this fact now for fear of public ridicule en mass by their peers. Mandrama will lose fans left and right and they will all flock to the superior sport that is Mixed Martial Arts. This was all according to Dana and Punks plan. Why else would a major WWE name just get handed a spot on a pay-per-view? The place on the card also spoke volumes, but in subtle ways. It went to show that CM Punk, a man who has the LONGEST WWE CHAMPIONS REIGN IN THE LAST 25 YEARS, isn't even deserving of a main event slot on a UFC PPV. Dana surely knew of the Punk-WWE animosity and clearly offered him a chance to completely and utterly embarrass WWE once and for all. Punk would be the sacrifice necessary to finally expose mandrama for the facade that it is, whilst showing that earning the respect UFC fighters and fans is the more desirable outcome than protecting his old WWE image. This subconsciously places UFC at an elevated level in peoples heads, subverting their allegiance to the WWE. Genius. Absolutely brilliant play by the UFC. Punk is truly The Best in the World.
