I feel like I should shitpost, but I don't have the energy to do it.

Is there a term for this?

likely never will be, either

...

They already made a Neuromancer movie, its called The Matrix.

They already made a Snow Crash movie, its called The Matrix.

It wouldn't have worked in the 80s or 90s or 2000s because it would have looked like shit and it wouldn't work today because culturally it exists so firmly in the 80s/90s
At any rate, GitS is basically it in anime, in terms of setting and technology if not plot

And thank god it isn't.

pretty sure a mini-series is still in progress; which is honestly a way better way to do a stephenson novel than 1 film b/c of the 2million plot threads
no

epic xd

...

they're making a television series out of this

Is this actually worth reading?

It's been on my backlog for years

it's like 300 pages and not at all difficult

just fucking read it yourself and find out, it'll take like 5 hours total

if you're at all a fan of cyberpunk it's basically required reading
just pick it up

Didn't Gibson at some point say something along the lines of not wanting there to be a Neuromancer movie because people would assume it was a Blade Runner ripoff?

Hyperion.

And don't remind me of that fucking shit Sy-Fy is making. No way that'll be watchable.

>the unauthorized brendan frasier biography

hee hee...

There've been dozens of adaptations, but none of them get it just right.

''growing up''

Not sure if it would be adaptable

God IJ is so good. I don't think any adaptation would be kino enough. We did get the decemberists music video for escaton though.

I hope they never do

>my face at Tom Sawyer the whole book

Rifters

It's already been done

Too blasphemous I guess

I mean, that's the point of the novel

...

Ive just gone and bought this, thanks user- im behind on clarke. P.s. ringworld = overated

>tfw Ian McShane is now cast as Mr. Wednesday
They literally couldn't have cast someone more perfect if they tried.

It's a pretty good novel. Feels a bit dated but still fascinating.
>tfw we will NEVER get Michael Fass ender as Riviera
Life is suffering.

I'm glad it didn't get fucked and bent over a theater by hollywood.

lol not sure if it's a troll or you're illiterate

big fan of gibson but you know what, his most recent ones would be better. like pattern recognition. neuromancer was never made into a movie but so many movies are rips/inspired by it... in some ways its antiquated or played out because of its imitators.

Goddamn shame too.

...

...

That's being made right now

i liked it. although it gets a bit *unsheathes katana* at times though

It would be pretty hard to adapt this one.

nigga you can read that in one day
it's pretty cool and a mark for how we should look at cyberpunk

It's alright.

One of those books I prefer listening to on audiobook while i do shit instead of reading.

ennui

Why does everyone on this board only read young-adult genre fiction?

If they don't keep the nudism and fuck parties its not worth adapting.

Adapt heinlein's short stories, like menace from earth, or by his own bootstraps.

This would trigger little shits today. Whole idea is similar to Royale

>Terry Gilliam's Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldrich will never exist outside of my head

...

...

fuck that book

Why do people watch capeshit? It's easily digestible escapism.

just finished this, I'd almost prefer a miniseries

You know all the goddamn phonies in Hollywood could only fuck it up.

...

Was a series. But it was shit.

I want an R Rated proper movie for it. Fucking love Redwall.

I remember talk on websites about Morgan freeman playing the lead. But that was 10 years ago. A lot of nerds talk about it but it has nothing in it of interest.
Rama enters the system then it leaves.

Literally references: the book.

>genre fiction
Does anyone here have the mental capacity to enjoy Hemingway or Joyce?

Fuck that would be boring

Count Zero is better than Neuromancer in every possible way

10/10 setting, maelstom is best rifters though

>not liking both

I bet the only novel you read last year was City on fire, ya twat

>its a "insecure 20 year old virgin signals to strangers on an anonymous anime image board to show how smart he is" post

reddit

>Fucking love Redwall.
This is Sup Forums related but you should check this out:

This would be badass

>No Country for Old Men
Amazing movie, even stuck close to the source material

>The Road
Pretty garbage, although very close to the book

Will there be another good McCarthy adaptation?

>edgy teenager in highschool
>read this for class
>remember feeling so betrayed at the ending
>remember trying to argue to class that there was nothing wrong with him
geez, user. I didn't need to feel this pain today.

It's one of the worst books I've ever read, but supposedly it created the cyberpunk genre so that's pretty cool.

that aint Mona Lisa Overdrive
or Aidoru

gave me my siscon fetish so its aight

Oh shit, twenty seconds apart

I don't know exactly why, but I always read Wu's dialogue in Dr. Ventures voice.

this would be a fun as fuck movie to watch, imagine 80s era Jim Henson effects for Speaker and Nessus.

There were a couple of games in the late 80s that were all right. I've always wondered why they don't make a movie. They made a Wing Commander movie for god's sake, and Kilrathi are just kzinti with the serial numbers filed off.

>siscon

It could never work it film-format though people would get sick of the constant narrating by first the 30 minute's. Also Holden rape Phoebe.

a man can dream

I feel like the adaptation has been in development hell since it was published.

The writing isn't that good and some of it has aged poorly tbqh, but the ideas and universe are pretty cool and interesting.

These have been circling around studios for ages.

...

Deltora Quest or whatever those are all called as a series still haven't been attempted although they're not good enough to be anything but books anyway. Plus the Nips made an animoo out of them and it sucked dick so no one else will probably try ever again to adapt it. Ah well.

I like Joyce.

Hemingway not so much.

There will probably never be a film adaptation of the Aeneid. jdimsa :/

Pratchett is our Shakespeare.

>The writing isn't that good and some of it has aged poorly tbqh

What the fuck dose 'ninja like a monk' even mean?

he's a badass ninja killer, but he's like zen too

A proper high budget movie that isn't 3D, please.

...

Have you seen Johnny Mnemonic? It's alright, not to great. Has Keeanu in it.

we got 13th warrior. based on eaters of the dead, which is beowulf and the writings of ibn fadlan. not amazing but not bad

Cast the hooker with the maneating vagina, lads?

...

how are they going to put in all the 80s references in the movie?

everyone got my expectations way too high and then it wasn't great, so it ended up feeling like a big let down

I could tell that it basically coined the future-noir narration style, but other books have done it a lot better since.

I read it in college, and thought it was pretty good, but not amazing. A little underwhelming considering the hype.

Re-read it last year (about 10 years later), was a totally different experience. These feels, I didn't ask for them. The emotional symbolism didn't hit the first time. It did the second.

Ur all plebs

or his other book, the Diamond Age

Top choice water brother

>Nips made an animoo out of them
Holy shit thanks user, I'll probably never watch but that's great. I stole the series from my library because I never finished them as a kid.
>mfw I understand what DELTORA is and how the covers are designed .
