so you're trying to find the set of points where those equations touch.
To solve them 'by graphing' the teacher usually wants you to physically plot the points for each function and circle the points where the touch.
To do that with numbers and not by drawing fucking pictures, you set one of the functions up so that its either x=... or y=... and plug that expression (it'll have either an x or y in it, the opposite of what you solved for first) into the other equation. Can you explain to me why once or twice a year military doctors show up at my family's house and take my brother and son for mandatory blood tests. I tried asking them about it and they said they're looking for virus vectors local to the area. When we moved they still showed up, but were more aggressive with the retrieving of them. My son doesn't say much. Other than when he just gets back. I've only heard him tell me about the bugs once. Usually when he recovers if he says anything about it, he refers to it as a doctors visit. I've yelled at him and he just cries if I push to hard. My brother on the other hand says they give him a shot or two and run physical tests. He seems like he is mostly coherent during it, in fact he tells me to calm down most of the time. But the fact is he didn't even know about the marks on his back until I told him during an outing. The last thing he told me specifically was they had him on a treadmill and the room was like a sauna, then they just asked him questions about the areas environment. He thinks it's legit, his flat out answer is usually I'm going because I think I'm helping others. Buy him a new backpack as a present if you must to avoid suspicion.
You could also buy a specialist tracking device that can be sewn into clothing. They're very expensive and you need to make sure that your son is wearing a common item of clothing. God help you if you accidentally wash it too.
When they take him. Put out a missing person's report.
Do not tell your brother that you're doing this with your son, but encourage him to do the same. Being an adult he can probably collaborate with you.
