What's your IQ (if tested) and how does it influence your life?

Just curious. I never tested mine, it's probably a few points above the average. My emotional intelligence and empathy levels are pretty low, I'm terrible at maths, but good at solving problems. I usually get frustrated and I can't understand most of the thoughts people have about life. I'm okay with languages, I learned english by myself just watching series, movies and reading.

I'm bored. Your turn.

165. Got into MENSA when I was 12. Doesn't really mean shit though... I'm not a fucking doctor or rocket scientist or some shit. I'm a Sup Forums lurker. I guess it influences my life in a negative way, because it makes me desperately analytical of absolutely everything, preventing me from having much fun or taking risks. It helps me learn new skills and adapt to new jobs quite quickly, at least. Obviously if I had other attributes besides my intelligence, it'd be a great thing and could have helped me get an awesome job and a sweet life but, on its own, not that important.

137

127 currently enrolled in a physics program so slowly becoming better. I know what you mean though the more I learn the more desensitized I become to my surroundings

I'm gana go ahead and call bullshit

Bullshit seconded.

Lying on the internet about your IQ... how fucking sad are you?

>it makes me desperately analytical of absolutely everything, preventing me from having much fun or taking risks

thats not Sup Forums

same here. need more to feed my hunger for information. too bad lots of my social skills are adapted simulations that work, master manipulator

Are you part Asian or Slav. If so this is normal.

My IQ is 420. It makes me high all the time.

Physics guy here again, weed just became legal in California so I tried it out and goddamn I felt so retarded the next day any advice to counter this or is it normal

Yeah easy. Smoke more weed.

No, I'm not. Why would that be normal?

The people who share their IQ's are generally those who have high IQ's since it means they're less self conscious about it. Then there's also people who lie on the internet for whatever reason. It's the same with dick size. So you'll see a lot of high numbers in here, OP. 140 IQ reporting in. I got my mechanical engineering degree, but haven't done anything with it because I'm a lazy piece of shit and inherited some money.

Mastering new concepts, scientific, economic, political, etc. isn't hard. Gitting gud at new vidya isn't hard. Finding the willpower to do anything is still hard. I'd like to save the world and get the girl, but I just alternate between my bed and computer chair, really. IQ doesn't mean shit if you don't do anything with it.

140s as well, but i suffer from some pretty sever anxiaty. I'm afraid I might be going scizophrebic lol, but it could just be the anxiety and lack of sleep.

There's this really interesting book called Grit, It's all about how the most important measure to success is the ability to not give up.

Damn it, this is literally me

encyclopedias are worthless to someone who can't read.

a high iq means good memory? learning stuff really easy?

138 - Usually I'm able to solve problems and reach conclusions that most people wouldn't or take for ever to do but that's pretty much it.

The bad side is much greater in my oppinion: I'm deeply skeptical thefore a pessimist and I find myself "acting" around people becasue I'm unable to relate to what most ppl find interesting or fun.

OP pretty much described me.. care to elaborate.
>i'm half german half polish btw

This guy here is right.

IQ makes it way easier to pick up new things.
I've tested in the 130-140 range, so 97.7 percentile to 99.6 percentile. I still haven't finished my degree in mathematics because I'm held back by a bullshit language class I can't summon the energy to go to.

Some of my peers who were not nearly as bright as me are now working on getting Ph.D.s and Masters, but I'm still working on my BS

IQ helps in some areas of life, but not others. Motivation, dedication, and discipline are also limiting factors.

l did an iq test on utmblr wit h3 questions and my IQ seems to be 188 :^)

136.

I'm Asian guy studying in Germany currently. Ehh... it's okay I guess, it helped me think faster

129, everyone is stupid

Is getting dubs easier with a high IQ?

OP here, I'm glad I started this thread, enjoying your answers so far.

142. Tested in 2nd grade for the Gifted program. Intelligence is a curse, I swear.

Above average IQ in everything except concentration, thats bellow average. Tested about 3 months ago, still waiting on that add diagnosis

>129 meh im lazy as fuck when it comes to learning but i passed all my exams in my life so far without "real learning".

Why does everyone here pretend to have a Stephan Hawking level IQ wtf guys. If you all had 140+ IQ we would have a few more Einsteins on earth. I don't think everyone is doing comparable tests.

156. It makes me miserable.

Why?

The typical " i do this on purpose because i'm afraid if i fail i have no back up excuse"

"He bro what did you get"
"Bro i didn't learn"

Steven Hawking's IQ is something like 160-180. No one has claimed that yet.

A lot of people are claiming in the 130s. This is about a 1/40 to 1/200 incidence. There are thousands of people lurking Sup Forums, so we should expect many with that level IQ.

Also as
mentioned, people with higher IQs are more likely to respond.

Furthermore, people who think themselves intelligent are more likely to take IQ tests in the first place.

Of course, there are many problems with self-reported IQ scores, two of which are inferior testes (most tests online) and testing while in elementary school.

testes, heh
meant tests, obviously.

hey this guys got a brain

sure kid see

147. It's a boon in some ways, and a curse in others.

For one, IQ is a limited test. it doesn't actually describe intelligence in a broad or useful way - the test indicates if you have certain general knowledge available to you and if you are good at recognizing certain types of patterns.

The training and creativity required to be a hawking or an Einstein are correlated with a high i.q. but are not necessarily present.

I have a high IQ, 4 standard deviations above average - I am good at creative problem solving because it is something I practice. I have regularly had employers tell me I am their "Go to for innovative solutions to unforeseen problems"

That said, I am garbage at lots of things - I get frustrated with post secondary education (Though I have been instrumental in assisting with a number of graduate capstone papers be they theses or dissertations) I suck at it. I get frustrated with the "Just follow the rules"

and that is because I am a childish twat.

I am partly a childish twat because of the amount of shit I was allowed to get away with in elementary, middle, and high school - because of my high IQ score (determining causation here is really challenging)

I also have a difficult time with it because I was not taught the executive function skills necessary to be REALLY successful as an adult simply because my parents (Likewise their parents) lacked them.

That leaves me in a place where I am having to try to gain access to academic research through non academic means (Have you ever looked at the prices for academic papers if you aren't attending a school that pays for a membership? Or the price of a membership? Shit is steep fam)

SO I go back to school - because I was a piece of shit when I was a kid, I fucked my GPA and can't get into a university, so I have to go to a roundabout bullshit school to establish sufficient academic history in order to get a real school/program that interests me to accept me.

well nope im just too lazy to learn in general i have low motivation
i often make a plan to learn or start something but in the end i never do it untui its 1 day before dead line

i made my masterful work / housework in 1 week with 30-40% gaming.
Ofc i passed but i had a hard job to defend it at my presentation (i prepared 1 day before the presentation also) sorry for my bad english its late and im sick

im hi. my iq is 136.

I got like 123 or 132 when I was 13yo, I can't remember.
Nothing exceptional, yet enough to make me feel out of this world.
Laziness and low self esteem have always countered any productivity.
I study educational related studies, and the fact that I understand things in a different way than others is actually a big handicap to explain almost everything. The "I explain for dumb people" is my nemesis

I don't know the number, but when I was about 6 I was diagnosed with a cerebral palsy, and my doctor sent me to a specialist on cognitive development and function, to be tested. According to the tests I am slightly to moderately above average. A lot of people with it are severely mentally challenged, but there's no real way to predict where anyone with it might end up falling on the IQ spectrum. Basically what it is is permanent brain damage that occurs during or immediately after birth, so it's just a matter if luck whether or not it will cause cognitive impairment. Fortunately for me mine is mild compared to a lot of people's, and not only did it not affect me intellectually, but it didn't really prevent me from having a fairly normal (and mostly good) childhood, nor does it seem to have any apparent affect in my quality of life today. What it did do was affect my development of fine motor skills, and speech, but with the right therapy this was corrected.

I come from a working class background, and had a father who was clinically retarded (70 IQ) he was deprived of oxygen for a period at birth and was in a severe drunk driving accident in his early twenties, I was never able to form a meaningful relationship with him and he died two years ago. interacting with him, and seeing the small number of interactions of which he was capable was depressing, and horrifying, and caused me anger and frustration.

I mean, that's just for starters.

I also spent my life until my mid twenties qualified for a high functioning autism, then aspergers, then autism diagnosis again (DSM 5 bitches) which, when combined with the trappings of a high I.Q. lead to extreme distance from my peers, and extraordinary hubris, which honestly made me an asshole.

I barely qualify for the diagnosis anymore - I have gotten good enough at passing for normal that I am "Recovered" as the autism treatment folks like to say. I did it myself and feel good about the path I took though I feel very much ashamed about some of the steps I took.

the larger answer is I suppose - the distance from my peers, which is partly the residuals of "recovered" autism, knowing that I have extraordinary potential and never knowing the right way to use it. The guilt that I am wasting my potential. all that jazz.

Thanks, user

Never got IQ tested but my SAT was around 2200 and I went to a college where that was only 25th percentile.

Honestly I and intelligence mean a lot less than people think

>knowing that I have extraordinary potential and never knowing the right way to use it

You couldn't describe me more accurately even if you knew me all my life

IQ means basically nothing as far as getting a degree, Grit and being good at following directions\rules and being good at skimming books fast are how you git gud at university.

I am good at calculations. I can perform them in my head. I am good at drawing and music because of the combination of in head calculations and hand eye coordination. My dexterity is above average due to 12+ years of sports and drawing my entire life, music is easy at this point.

I spend my days reading books by Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Briane Green, and Michio Kaku. I have also been reading the King James edition of the Holy Bible. I do not practice any religions but I am open minded and enjoy combining the known laws of the universe with religion.

I am basically your average astrophysicist, like Einstein, study math all day play the violin at night. But I don't have any certification so I don't see myself scoring a job any time soon. I do it for the sport of learning.

Being smart means you are capable of achieving your goals. Being wise means your goals are correct to accomplish your dreams. I'm smart but I could be doing more. If I was any better at guitar u would explode yet I don't write any music for the guitar to show off any skills because I don't like showing off. I practice for the sport of it. The challenge. I don't care what others think unless they're my friends and I don't wanna make friends with guitar chops.

Exactly. The limit of intelligence is not breached by formal education. Formal education is designed to make an idiot subpar at a designated subject. You should be able to study at the library and show up to a school and apply for a test, take the test, get a degree. If you fail the test, you have to take the class.

Oh but then there no money to make.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's all good. Nobel prizes pay off, doesn't matter if you have a degree, if you realize that matter pulls and non matter pushed, and realize that dark matter is simply nothing and nothing repels as something attracts, you'll get that Nobel prize. Fuck the system.

>definitely lying and also a complete faggot
