>synthwave why would i want to listen to a cheesy 80s pop ripoff
Liam James
True. You could listen to 90s commercial music samples. Much better.
Jonathan Jackson
>90s commercial music samples fair enough. but there have only been a couple vaporwave albums posted itt so far

Only cyberpunk I know is DG and ATR, ty guys for giving me new stuff to listen to. Though a lot of stuff itt isn't cyberpunk it's just synth/future wave lol. Like OPN's garden of delete is sweet, I'm a huge opn fan but nothing he's ever done is cyberpunk.
Brody Brown
>a lot of stuff itt isn't cyberpunk see the op

Well the foremost qualifiers for cyberpunk as I see it are: (1) clear punk music roots and (2) strong influence from the digital age. Synthwave and futurewave certainly meet the second criterion but not always the first. If "using your imagination" was a fair defense for anything then I could easily say AnCo are free jazz because they occasionally improvise during live sets with no regard for chords or scales. Which is false because that statement is ignorant of AC's methodology and the history of free jazz. I don't mean to shit on this thread or anything but this is a rather liberal definition of cyberpunk.

>cheesy 80s pop ripoff cheesy 80s is kind of part of cyberpunks aethstetic >pop ripoff please point out where the song I posted is "pop" and what its a rip off of
Henry Gomez
always too much glitz, not enough dystopic nightcrawling in these threads
