Does light cast shadow? No.

The clue is in the name OP

Uh does a flash light? no

...

Yes. It has a handle.

If there is a stronger light source nearby, then yes, it does cast a shadow.

the handle does, the "blade" might distort light if it heats the air

Does a light bulb distort the light as it heats the air, you moron?

You're wrong.

CAN YOU SEE THROUGH IT?
No. So light does not pass through it, so it casts a shadow.
You can see through the light of flashlights, but not of a lightsaber.
This also suggests that a lightsaber is not pure light. (It would go to infinity anyways if it was, instead of stopping after a meter)
It probably creates some kind of field or plasma shit in that area, and the light heats it up like fuck.

However, since it emits light, it would probably be enough to light over any shadows it would create, except for when at a far enough distance.

it emits light from the blade, so it does not cast a shadow. The handle however does

wat?

ok m90, take a laser pointer and stare directly into the beam for as long as you like and tell me if you can see through it.

be more specific. do oyu mean in the movies, a toy, a hypothetical "real lightsaber", that particular .jpg or what?

if a lightsaber were real; supposing it generates light-based energy or whatever i would assume it would cast light rather than a shadow

bait

Can you see what's behind the lightsaber?
No?
Thought so.

yes, its the inside of your moms vagina

that's photoshopped dumbass

no, but the light from it carries on like the light is going through canceling it out.

ok go stare into a floodlight. can you see behind it?

You literally just contradicted and proved your own argument wrong

I'm talking about from behind the beam, not the fucking handle. Light doesn't pass through the handle.
If the beam of a lightsaber would allow light to pass through it from one side to the other, then you would be able to see what is behind the lightsaber.
But you can't see through the beam, it's just white shit and not the least bit transparent, so the light from a lightsource will not pass through it, and because of that the lightsaber will cast a shadow.

DURRR LIGHT BUB SUPR HOT, SU HOT IT AS HUT AS PLASMUH SWURD HUR HUUUURRRR

shut up plant, nobody asked you.

The Lightsaber emits light so it cannot cast a shadow other than the handle

but the beam itself casts light in all directions.

you cant see through it because the light is so bright,

What if the light is weaker than the light source?

its a motherfuckken lightsaber wot. shit cuts through robots like butter and a full metal blast-door in under 30 seconds.

if you were close enough to a lightsource able to compete with a lightsaber you'd be dead and i doubt anyone would be willing to go to such lenghts to test such a theory.

You can see the shadow of each bulb in a chandelier, despite them all being on. Yes, if there's a difference between the light projected from behind it, and the light received at the flat surface a shadow is cast upon, you sill be able to tell, and thus there is a shadow.

the bulb is what casts the shadow dipshit, not the light, lightsabers are beams of light that have technically no mass

Does the sun cast a shadow?
Can you see through the sun?

If you look closely at the picture, you can see that it does not cast a shadow.

ITT: retards comparing different objects with each other.

You know what else does emit light but you can't see through it? A flashlight. You've heard it here first a flashlight is a lightsaber.

Holy fuck you're retarded. It's a bunch of plasma held in place by an electromagnetic field. You know what else is made up of plasma? The sun. Can you see through the sun? no. Does the sun cast a shadow? no. TIL user is a fucking autist

You do know that lightbulbs will actually cast a shadow even when on right. That is actually not that bad of a comparison to a lightsaber.

They have to have some sort of mass or they would not have a weight.
