Have you ever listened to Josh Pan? He does a lot of instrumentals on Soundcloud that pretty great. The one I'm particularly fond of is his It G Ma remix.

I'm not sure which era of the Mothers you've been listening to, but if it's early Mothers, try checking out Ween's early output, like God Ween Satan and the Pod. If it's the avant-prog era, then Henry Cow. If it's the more jazz oriented, possibly Phish.
If you haven't listened to KMD yet, you should really consider it.
