Came out in 1981, but George Strait's first album isn't half bad. And this is coming from someone who despises 99% of country music

Townes Van Zandt. Top tier songwriter and poet. Like all country of the good variety, full of darkness and sorrow.
Some of his most famous songs:

I don't care what anyone says, this is my favorite country song ever.
Little big town - better man
Luke Bryan - fast
Josh Turner - hometown girl
Those three are probably my favorite ones on the radio now.
(And yes I know it's a cover, you can't find Garth Brooks on YouTube.)
Good job listing all hipster country

George Strait
samefag, i think james taylors earlier shit is pretty decent and much better than the God Bless America/Shoulda Treated You Right/Beer and God/Girl in Pants Painted Blue/Wish I Knew You Before You Got Married bullshit that fills country content these days.
Johnny Cash is the only country artist I can listen to and not cringe.
I know you asked for 1930-1960, but there's non cringe country that's pretty mainstream today such as Chris Stapleton's last album. And then of course you have Casey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Eric Church, Brad Paisley (he's mainly tongue in cheek but if that gets annoying just listen to his instrumental album Play), and Trace Adkins but I don't think he's as popular as he used to be.
retard
he's probably the only non-radio pop country artist you've heard
pff, suit yourself
Eric Church tho
Are you implying this is good or bad? cause really like it. I like his last album more though
Merle Haggard
Charlie Daniels Band (early stuff)

Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., I could go on...
Not from that era, but I've been listening to Nikki Lane a lot lately. She just dropped a new album and kicked off a tour. Great live shows.

I WEAR A GREASY BALL CAP
I mean you could simplify any genre to just a few surface level themes. But I think you can good music about anything if you're creative enough
