Yet another rehashed cashcow overstimulating cgi shill orgy literally solely designed to just get your fucking ass in a cinema seat, rather than a film that actually has any trace of good writing or creative plot with real human drama, acting talent or depth.

Just how long can this really go on?...How long will you take it? Just how much soulless shit CAN they crank out?

I'm beginning to truly worry that the general population will actually forget what good cinema really is?
Is this just evidence of the degeneration of the population?
Why are we unable to recognise letalone celebrate art, or at least innovation or novelty anymore?

wait is that the real poster? A direct copy of ST:The Motion Picture? Lel

at least we get the new tv series

>inb4 progressive trans w/e

>overstimulating

Are you a cat?

>inb4 progressive trans w/e
Don't even joke about it, user. I can totally see this happening.

You're right user, it's impossible for too many things to be happening on screen at once, they should compress films down to a second for maximum kino and anyone who disagrees is a cat.

I get you.

...

Not seeing a 'no' there...

Okay, /trek/, you are appointed as an executive producer on Star Trek 2017.

How do (You) make it socially progressive but without alienating the coveted Sup Forums demographic?

I like the poster. Not sure if the Trek reboot is a good example of what you're talking about OP - in a world where we have a Fast and Furious franchise.

Fuck 2016 man, everything has such an edgy air to it. I mean in 2014 I'd be hyped for this but after Into Darkness and with bomb after bomb I really just dread it now.

The trailers look so Saturday morning cartoon with the mustache twirling bad guys and everything is a explosion on a RAD BMX bike. I know I am showing my age here lol.

You do know Justin Lin (director of the last few Fast and Furious movies) is directing this very Star Trek movie, right? Or are you being facetious?

>third movie and they've already destroyed the Enterprise TWICE

Fuck off with this shit.

>I'm beginning to truly worry that the general population will actually forget what good cinema really is

They already have; even most of the critics have. There's nothing wrong with the occasional movie that's nothing but big, dumb fun, but by making them the rule, rather than the exception, the viewing audience has largely become preconditioned to enter into every viewing experience expecting that and little else.

Simon Pegg is writing this instead of the Transformers guys or Lindelof so I have some hope

He already said they fucked his script to hell and back and brought on another writer to force production suggestions. Pegg probably didn't include enough motorcycle chases or fist fights.

but he isn't directing this one

>inb4 progressive trans w/e
just stop with this meme bullshit.
gay characters are the least of my worries, it's the blatant moneygrabbing attitude these movies(and probably the show) has.

have a cute trap character

>the viewing audience has largely become preconditioned
why would studios do that? blockbusters cost them more money than arthouse flicks

>why would studios do that? blockbusters cost them more money than arthouse flicks
blockbusters are a safer bet to get your money back 10x. you pretty much don't need any talent for a successful blockbuster, just a good marketing a and a good business plan

>I'm beginning to truly worry that the general population will actually forget what good cinema really is?

apparently you never lived through the 90's where nearly half the movies were mindless gun fire and explosion porn

>dropping him because he's Jewish instead of dropping him because he can't act
I don't like kikes either, but priorities are important.

im with you OP

It still doesn't look good. Just a different flavor of generic shit.

Looks good to me, and to most Trekkers. Check /r/startrek or TrekBBS or Facebook Star Trek Fans group. Beyond is highly anticipated and opinion skews way positive. Maybe the problem is that you're just not a true Star Trek fan.

THIS!!
LOOK INTO THE EYES OF THE DRAGON AND DESPAIR!

This is Sup Forums, shitstain - we know.

Nice try faggot. Most trekkies hated the last two and will hate this steaming pile of shit.

I just watched the Fast & Furious movies by Lin so I'm really excited about his Star Trek adventure

A lot more than I am about a 13 ep star trek series, we used to get 7 fucking seasons until shitty Enterprise killed it.

But this movie is written by hack frauds, and the series is written by Nick Meyer (II, IV and VI) and Joe Menosky (Darmok).

Being more excited for the movie than for the series is most illogical.

and yet, here we are!

>Im showing my age here
>lol

Yes, you are.

Easy - a courtroom drama holding Kathryn Janeway accountable for her crimes in the Delta quadrant.

shut up fag

>implying a streaming service would fund 30 episodes just for the pre-Borg era

Doubtful but it would be interesting.
Tuvok as the defense, Chakotay as a (living) witness, Seven as the accuser, Tom / B'Elana as withholders of evidence, Kim as defense witness, the doctor as prosecution, and Kes as the angry courtroom flasher and occasional outspoken madwoman.

Neelix will be the coup de gras in it, having some special card up the sleeve.

>Just how long can this really go on?...How long will you take it? Just how much soulless shit CAN they crank out?
That's literally the entire history of entertainment.

It just has to be better than Into Darkness and beyond that frankly who cares. Star Trek is pretty great on TV, and is consistently bad on Movies.
