This album tends to be extremely polarizing, even among black metal fans.
What are your thoughts on this album?

It's okay. Wore it out in high school.

the definition of an average album, nothing more, nothing less

>mfw Witchfinder is always online
I love you.

As far as the album goes, it's very good, but it's a bit overrated. It's not the "pinnacle of black metal" or anything.

>black metal fans.

no one said it was

i sure like the title track main riff

While the production accentuates the coldness of the riffs, it also causes most of the songs, bar a few, to sound really samey. It's usually a struggle to get through the whole thing in one go without zoning out.

It's good and somewhat unique for it's time. But it's definitely the worse of the Unholy Tribology. Transylvanian Hunger will always be a classic, but Under a Funeral Moon is one of the greatest black metal albums.

A lot of people consider Transylvanian Hunger "the" black metal album. Either it or De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

I think its a fantastic record. I used to listen to it when I was in college, on cassette, while driving to school. It was amazing during the winter, especially when there was fog.

Favorite song: title track and I En Hall Med Flesk Og Mjod
>dat punk section

a lot of people consider it to be the cornerstone 'raw' black metal album.
doens't necessarily mean they consider it to be the best in the genre

It's easily the most imitated 2nd wave album.

honestly user at this point i think it would be the works of ildjarn

To me the music on this album an onwards doesn't sound powerful and aggressive enough, so i much prefer Mayhem to Darkthrone as a band overall, although of course they come as close second, third being Burzum.

The best Darkthrone album would be A Blaze in the Northern Sky, decreasing quality from then until today, when they are absolute shit

This is unironically my favorite Darkthrone album. Its fantastic.

Under a funeral moon is better

Better than anything Burzum ever did

But Varg wrote like half the songs on the album.

Only the lyrics friend

It's pretty good.

A Blaze in The Northern Sky is superior, however.

A Blaze in the Northern Sky > Transilvanian Hunger

This will always be true

generic and wimpy

searched shitty corpse paint, this has got to to be the most br00tal shit ive ever seen

Stop listening to black metal

It's... huh...wow!
Nothing more, nothing less.
