Hope not

probably

How else is he going to know he hates Pringles if he's never tried them?

No, they aren't and were never great

Did anyone else loved Comedown Machine or it was just me?
Everyone else seems to hate it

If it had been released in 2016 would've been way more appreciated

It's their most comfy and atmospheric album. Seriously under-rated.

pretty good. Better than Angles

That's not Oasis

Im fucking dying dude stop, thats WAAAAY too funny, fuck

anyway i dunno, thats a dumb question.

to follow up:

a better question would be: is "Is This It" the last great rock album, as everything after that is not especially lauded in the same way, and most people would say that really that first album is what makes the band important.
The album came out in 2001, so I ask you

Does American Idiot not count as a great rock album? Debatable.

What about the Shin's Oh Inverted World? how is THAT not the last great rock album/last great rock band? or Toxicity?

The White Stripes.

The Artic Monkeys.

Isis.

fucking uuuhhhh Drive By Trucker's Southern Rock Opera, i dunno, im just saying.

>American Idiot
>Toxicity
>The White Stripes
>The Arctic Monkeys
You know Sup Forums is 18+ right?

(You)

>The Strokes
Yeah I do, I guess you should leave

no but my point is how the fuck is the STROKES not in the same category as those bands? I mean okay yeah Toxicity and American idiot are of course elementary school tier but white stripes are a liiiiittle bit more advanced, meanwhile artic monkeys is very much community-college-core. anyway what THE FUCK AM I DEBATING ABOUT THIS RETARDED SHIT FOR, THIS IS WHAT YOU FUCKING AUTISTIC FAGGOTS DO TO ME, FUCK, kjasdfljalsdjfasjdfFUUAUSDFUAUSDF anyway uuuh what was my point...I guess its that just because you are suggesting that those bands are not acceptable in my argument due to to the fact that they are some how immature, I posit to you that we are talking about "great" rock bands, I don't see The Strokes being TOO far from the same vein as some of those bands anyway, and if we're talking about the "last" great rock band that suggests there were other great rock bands before, and if we're talking about the strokes being great then we can assume probably Nirvana and The Beatles are going to be considered great and thats very elementary tier and listened to by almost everyone anyway im tired and furstrate and feel like killing myself now

uh huh whatever

...

There have been way better rock albums than the pleb shit 13 year old core you posted since 2001. Your shit taste is showing

Good to see some Titus Andronicus love.

...

Why Julian is so good looking?Makes me feel sad desu

Mom was a model so that's a factor

Valensi is pretty good looking aswell

Hammond on the other hand looks like a child molester

...

I mean there have definitely been better rock albums released but I feel like this was last the actually new rock band to be truly hyped and then deliver, but this is more of a symptom of rock being over in the mainstream than the Strokes actually being really good.

delet this

The next Strokes LP is going to make or break them, seriously. Angles was stale, and yet somehow Comedown Machine is legitimately really good. If they get their shit together and maybe operate under the impression that it's their last, I could see them releasing something as visceral and important as First Impressions of Earth

What are Eagles of Death Metal?
Who is Josh Homme?

I heard they are pretty big in France

no they were never any good

>implying First Impressions of Earth is a good album

deja vu

I'm not even mad at you, I just feel bad for you.

I mean it's not bad, but probably would've let it on the bottom win Angels

the first half and the last couple songs are very good

this has to be the least hyped release of all time

like i don't even remember it coming out and nobody ever mentions it

Reminder that The Strokes saved rock music and the only reason you have any good rock today is because of them.

fab is the real qt

I liked it more than Angles and First Impressions of Earth.

Call it Fate Call it Karma is legit one of their best.

The Strokes are for hipster college kids that think they're deep, but at the same time wanna be normie enough to fit in. The lyrics are vague enough for anyone to relate to, but after a while you realize it's pretentious trash.

Also, first 3 albums >>> Comedown Machine > Angles

This is the main reason for their popularity. Majority of their fans were high school/college girls.

nobody thinks the lyrics are deep

nice projection

Yeah, they blew up over there.

They had a falling out with their label and so decided to release it without any publicity to piss them off. I had kinda overlooked it too for some time.

Im not saying there isn't. That wasn't the FUCKING POINT YOU FUCKING FAGGOT YOU, I LIKE THAT FUCKING ALBUM TOO YOU FUCKING FAGGOT, SEEEEE THIS IS WHY I CANT FUCKING STAND Sup Forums THAT WASNT EVEN MY FUCKING POINT THAT TOXICITY WAS A GOOD ALBUM I WAS FUCKING ARGUING SOMETHING ELSE FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, AND FUCK YOU.AND FUCK YOU, GREAT CONTRIBUTION again not my point, but yeah I'm not really into the strokes that much.

Not really

>great

No. The world had to wait a whole other year for the band who that title belongs to.

Eagles of Death Metal are good but they're basically comedy rock.

QOTSA are god tier but they were already doing great stuff before The Strokes released Is This It?

This.

I'd say they made it worse. They spawned a decades worth of dull dreary Indie bands. People say they killed nu metal and skate punk, but at least bands like Limp Bizkit, Blink 182 and Slipknot were pretty fun to listen to. Who the fuck actually enjoys listening to Bloc Party?

Are you high?

>dull dreary Indie bands

What a fucking musical curse.

First impressions 2nd fav album t bh

call it fate is really great yea

true about the albums, but i think angles is a bit better than comedown

so? their batting average of masterpieces (imo) is 5/5

damn, I was sure most ppl here wouldv'e hated it, but yea i think its fantastic for the most part. How i see the album is all the shit they didn't do stylistically wise (along with the general feels obviously) examples being call it fate, one way trigger, 50/50

this is so damn great

I don't like to be mean bc ppl like u remind me of myself a few years ago but your age is really showing dude

Get rid of Electricityscape, Killing Lies, Fear of Sleep and Evening Sun, and have 15 Minutes as the closing track, and this would have been their best album, without a doubt.

Are you fucking retarded? I can't exactly argue they didn't kill rock but I can sure as hell argue their albums are fucking works of art compared to limp bizkit blink and slipknot

Them, The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys have a lot to answer for as to why The Courteeners, The Kooks and The Fratellis ever had careers.

I like fear of sleep and evening sun a lot tb h but yeah 15 minutes is literally my second favorite song. Easily their deepest lyrically too

The Strokes are great, 99% of bands that came up as a result of their success were the antithesis of great.

No. According to NME, Arctic Monkeys are just getting started.

Seriously though, I like the Strokes, especially their later stuff, but pic related is better than pretty much everything they've done multiplied to the tenth power.

the strokes did nothing wrong
youtu.be/W_14K0XgT_Q
Can't help feel for the dude at the part ~4:00 in but then again they're rich and famous and set for life so it can't be that bad
>tfw youre just trying to be real and naurdwar only wants to spout memes at you

If it wasn't for the NME memeing everyone into believing that that AM was the most important album of this generation, they would be JUST tier.

They were headed that way with Suck It And See but then suddenly everyone decided to like them again.

I feel like this is the album Julian wanted fioe to be but couldn't because of pressure from the label/band/public

No you fucking jabroni cunt. Red Vox.

>Age is really showing dude

I'm 26, and btw, I dont listen to any of those bands I listed. I was just making a point.

>RETARDED SHIT FOR, THIS IS WHAT YOU FUCKING AUTISTIC FAGGOTS DO TO ME, FUCK, kjasdfljalsdjfasjdfFUUAUSDFUAUSDF

If you're 26, you should really act your age

Comedown Machine is not that great, some songs are pretty lackluster and overall nothing comes close to their first two albums (i really like Room on Fire). I hope that they manage to make a great album this time, but if they don't, i think The Strokes would be fucked beyond repair.
