He said he wasn't originally going to release Wow, his kids convinced him to. So if he had that many inhibitions about releasing one song in an off year I doubt he would make a whole Album like Wow or that Flume song.

I've read a lot of interviews of his over the years. As much as he's been raised in a cult with a blatantly dumb cosmology, I really get the sense he's a million miles away from their doctrines. It's like a lot of Christians or Jews - they retain some of the culture and society of their church, but they shrug at the belief system more or less.

Beck is in such a fortunate position to be making music if you think about it, he can more or less put out whatever he wants and get away with it basically because he is Beck.

Jack White is someone who also seems to be able to do this aswell.

Ah. Well that makes sense. I've been a fan of his for a long, long time and over the last 5-7 years (after he messed up his back and went a bit quiet for a while) I know he had some money worries. Made some bunk real estate deals, etc. Even as far back as 2004-2005, he occasionally made references to wanting a little more widespread recognition.

He certainly seems to have embraced the opportunity to ride on the wave of his Grammy win and do some shit that would appeal to the same Beyonce and Kanye fans who were like 'who da fuk is Beck'?

Hope he returns to form soon.

Can someone please explain what the fuck is going on in this thread? Since when was Beck a Jewish conspiracy?

He is Jewish but was also born into Scientology.

Long story short he tried to escape with the help of this couple and they ended up commiting a double suicide and Beck has since stated he 'puzzled' about what happened since.

There's way more than that but I haven't studied it a whole lot but if you google "Beck escaping scientology" or something the whole debacle should come up.

And they weren't just some couple. They were known DC artists and close friends of the guys in Fugazi, Make Up, Rites of Spring etc.

That means there's nothing to discuss about the single.
If no one has a strong oppinion for or against, the song must be bland, or planly bad.
This tells us more about the song than actual discussion.
