this is the best one

you can delete the thread to be honest

Man I was at the barber and Baja la Tensión came on and that song is so catchy I had to look it up. Haven't listened to the other songs though

It's a great album. I've seen them live in Chile twice. Here's another great album in spanish.

Entry level choice for americans who think they know about spanish music

...

>this is the best meme

Let's talk about music in Spanish.

youtu.be/qzCOOrLnoVc

youtu.be/2cIC19nzLtM

youtu.be/zeMQ3M-_Qbw

youtu.be/kH262w7Chr8

Not even my favourite, but pretty much the most unique and formidable music made by spanish speakers (and, really, has a ton of potential international appeal)

Then why post it?

That and pic related, so long as we're talking popular music and not folklore or academic music

Don't forget...

Replying in text b/c too lazy to imagepost. Favorites:

>Cuban:
BVSC - BVSC
BVSC - Lost and Found
Ibrahim Ferrer - Buenos Hermanos
Ibrahim Ferrer - Buena Vista Social Club
Ibrahim Ferrer - Mi Oriente
Eliades Ochoa - Tributo al Quarteto Patria
Rubén González - Introducing RG
Rubén González - Chanchullo
Compay Segundo - Cien Años de Son
Beny Moré - Serie Platino
AfroCubism - AfroCubism

>Argentina:
Bajofondo - Bajofondo Tango Club
Bajofondo - Mar Dulce
Gotan Project - La Revancha del Tango
Gotan Project - Lunático

>Spain:
Ana D - Satélite 99
Andrés Segovia - Obras Breves Españolas
Andrés Segovia - Recital Íntimo

(Segovia is instrumental but what he plays is darn important to how Spanish language music works)

>Mexico:
Hechizeros Band - El Sonidito

I'd like to add these three. I'd also like to add Artaud but that's a bit played by now, isn't it?

Fuckries, all of you, forgetting based Manu Chao

>classical/baroque guitar in "Spanish" section
>electronic bastardizations of tango in "Argentina" section
>including Mexican music at all
this is, heh, wow
>mano negra, manu chao
>le spanish latino electik ska man xDD
You need to be 18+ to post on this board

Manu Chau more like Chaucitos boludo no me dejas con esa boludés pendejo la puta madre q te parió que no me rompas las bolas pelotudo

Escribí bien, oligofrénico.

>classical in Spanish section
Yeah, because it's classical Spanish music. Are you slow?

>electrotango ruins muh piazzola
Electrotango is hard to do but these albums do them well. If you want to listen to libertango over and over again move to recoleta.

>including Mexican music
Hechizeros Band are this life's prodigies and El Sonidito is the voice of a generation. I think you need to take another listen.

...

I don't know many people who even know of this guy. This album is lovely, catchy, simple in instrumentation but (relatively) complex in composition and has a healthy dose of dem feels.

Like a candombesque answer to british folk revival.

>>le spanish latino electik ska man xDD
Why do you hate fun this much
Clandestino is a fucking great album

>implying Piazzolla is tango
okey mi hombre
>because it's classical Spanish music
1) we're talking about spanish LANGUAGE albums
2) then I guess we should include the entire recordings of the Atrium Musicae De Madrid?
>the voice of a generation
The annoying voice of a brainless generation

Doesn't get better than this, folks.

Begging the question

He has a handful of listenable tracks. Not ONE decent album. What next, you'll recommend Ska-P? Miranda? LOCOMÍA?

It does, actually

Okay, now I know you're retarded. Did you read my added note under the Spanish section? Classical is important to how modern Spanish language music works, and Segovia does it best.

>implying piazzola isn't tango
wut

>Mexico
I insist, one day when the world is ashes and an alien race comes to discover our culture, they will find that El Sonidito may have been the greatest achievement of mankind.

I would agree but La Tanda is just too perfect.

For those unfamiliar, please familiarize yourself:
youtu.be/MzseW-ZyUw4

>You're retarded. Here, let me out-retard you
The only good thing to come out of mexican music came out of costa rica. Piazzolla plays a fusion of late 50s tango, which had received influence from academic composers such as Stravinsky (who, in turn, attempted a few tango-like forms) and Schönberg, and early 70s fusion. He was more american than argentine and he didn't even refer to his music as tango. Just because it has a bandoneón doesn't mean it's tango, just like not everything with a saxophone is jazz. Funny you disregard me saying "go listen to libertango lelelele" and then have the gall to imply his solo career was ever actually tango.
>they will find that El Sonidito may have been the greatest achievement of mankind.
Aliens are allowed to be utterly wrong, too.

Oh and it doesn't matter shit whether Segovia's INTERPRETATIONS were important for the spanish language [citation needed] because that's not what the thread's about. I understand you need to feel more cultured than those of us posting popular music, but this is just embarrassing.

who /Triana/ here?

youtube.com/watch?v=6OgUUkbIuG4

>Piazzola doesn't real tango
Go to BsAs and tell literally anyone Piazzola isn't real tango and everyone will agree you're retarded.

>he didn't even call it tango
His official web biography written 10 years after he died: piazzolla.org/biography/biography-espanol.html

>bandoneón =/= tango
That's nothing like sax =/= jazz, that's like saying clave =/= mambo/son. You can use it for other things, but you just don't.

Cabrones

Alright sure, instrumental classical isn't Spanish language, but you can't say it wasn't influenced.

>Go to BsAs
>implying the opinions of porteños matter

Anyone got some good Colombian music?

Only traditional music
youtube.com/watch?v=Dcos-vaMGdg

ITT: Argentine music

>despite interest in South and Central American and Caribbean music, 3 weeks reading in Wikipedia and listening to the essentials you will never grasp it, get it and understand like those born there

#culturaltouristblues

>opinions of tango's #1 consumer base don't matter
Kek try to build a reputation with the mentality of "people who listen to me are wrong".

Ondatropica

Are you implying there's anything else worth listening to in latin america? Maybe if we're counting Brazil, but this thread explicitly says Spanish language albums.

Usually a scene's core fans are the most retarded of the bunch, yes.

Nothing else is worth listening to besides Cuban and Argentine.

Say it with me, folks.

youtube.com/watch?v=5aNXBOzF6Ls

half-colombian, at least

As long as we're talking popular music, I agree. Maybe add one or two Uruguayan artists.

do you hate listening to tango? I don't get it.

What are you even on about?

>do you hate listening to tango?
I'd like to understand how this is what you gathered from our exchange, but I don't want to risk a stroke.
>I don't get it.
I can tell.

Sudacas pendejos, escriban como Dios manda.

>cita al que escribe bien
>"E LOKO ECRIVÍ VIEN"

Also, thoughts on Reyno,
I really enjoyed Viaje por lo Eterno but not liked Dualidad as much.

>los reynols > reyno

Fucking great album

A rare case of an album that's both great and overrated

...

that's amazing

kek

pero en serio, el dulce de leche es uruguayo.

I actually kind of understand what you mean by this. I do love the album but I like Almendra better

jajajajaj

>Making fun of Uruguay
>Just as shitty
Also
>Mis Malvinas pelotudos

No son mis Malvinas, son nuestros Malvinas boludo

>Trying to make a point
>Uses the word boludo
I really dispise you people

Best album of 2016

I love this but can't get into the rest of their discography. The compositions are good and I'm able to enjoy them but the overall sound just aged terribly.

Un Baión para el ojo idiota.
Patricio Rey y los Redonditos de Ricota.

kys

It might not have the same impact if you don't understand spanish, though.

Name a more intricate composition than El Sonidito.

I'll wait.

Why even respond to such a pointless post.

I'm ready to defend El Sonidito to the grave

where my urubros at

holy shit. mi negro. as a fellow plebtorrican i have to admit I'm more into los cafres, who are from argentina. but cultura profetica is great

I'm pretty sure indestructible is his most accomplished album, but i prefer this one as a whole

youtube.com/watch?v=KyB4imOqjFk

i hate this fag

youtube.com/watch?v=SkBg4JF_MZk&t=16s&ab_channel=TallerDaleAborigen
found this while lurking, sounded good wvwn though i have no idea what they are saying

youtu.be/nwxkBqJFSyM

This is a masterpiece, a fucking musical achievement.

This, too. Triana's first three albums are amazing.

God tier album

this sounds gay

...

Chilean music is nice tho

Cuban guy here, I actually posted these
because of this very meme. Sure Cuba has great artists, but growing up there you wanna hear anything BUT Cuban music after a while. As a kid, my favorite musicians weren't even from Cuba, although they sang in Spanish; guys like Eros Ramazzotti for example. Now a days I can't say I explicitly seek out anything from Cuba. I think I'd be more interested in experimental stuff coming out of the island, versus the well known pop stuff. Nothing against the popular musicians, but they are simply more abundant.
