They did start a war back in 1950 and it ain't over yet, numbnuts.
Obviously, if the USA were in a position where it could have annihilated the DPRK opposition, it would have done so. Now, even after more than half a century of war, North Korea remains free.
The prime US fear is that NK will collapse, and China will grab more territory from NK than the US and SK can grab. Any straight forward invasion is doomed to fail, as NK and China will fight anyone to a standstill in the rugged terrain.
