It comes from the fact that the internet was a place of interest. You used a search engine to look up something you liked. Video games. Paint ball. BMX bikes/parts. Cars/parts. Running. Sports. 3D Graphics, technology, computer shit, whatever.
Your results would eventually lead you to a website that had a forum, or a forum post itself and you would be interested, look around, sign up, and become a part of the community
it was ABSURD to think a girl would like that shit, they never liked it in real life, it was probably just a dude who was tricking you for laughs. I need proof it's a girl so you can get all the attention you crave.
