>Can someone explain the cult around Dilla?
He dead

He was just as loved in the hip-hop community while alive. P4K hipsters and white people only started caring when he died.

NIGGA DEAD!

they are too numerous to list, just look it up

overrated by far. madlib shits on him

Pretty much this, both Dilla and Madlib were the most acclaimed artists on stones throw. Not to mention Dilla's production credits include The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest and the Pharcyde.

Who knows why p4k decided to change donut's rating

>Who knows why p4k decided to change donut's rating

An attempt at appearing to be a reputable source of hip-hop criticism?

I like this beat

listen to it all the way through cuz the beat switches up

Donuts is surely considered his best work. Idk what I think about the backstory of an album becoming the reason it's so good to everybody, but it is rather impressive what he did while in a hospital bed.

He died young. That's basically it. He was not well regarded or important before his death. Now all of a sudden he's Pete Rock.

Revisionist history.

Pete Rock said Dilla was gonna put him out of a job when he heard his stuff. Same thing Clapton said about Hendrix.

Lot's of people say lots of things after someone dies

I've been following hiphop since early 80s.

Don't need anyone to tell me what happened. Saw it first hand.

>Just found out Madlib and DOOM are the same person

MIND

BLOWN

Been around since the 80s.

oh yeah?

you mean Madvillain is madlib + DOOM..? go away

god their revisionism is such fucking shit.

Easier not to pay royalties to a dead man.

Gross.

Most important thing he did was come up with rhythms by jamming live on an MPC.

Have you ever seen them on stage together?

I thought Madlib and Dilla were the same person though
