UK vs US

I think it's pretty clear that these are the two superpowers of modern music i.e. 1960s-now.

Who do you believe generally put's out better music?

Since the 80s, the US
The 60's and 70's? The UK
Now it's a toss-up, but I think the UK is slightly better currently.

If we are talking rock, UK > US

Most everything else, US > UK

The one which has more artists I listen to

Rock - UK
Jazz - USA
Bleeps - UK
Hip hop - USA

Uk took Us music, sanitized it for the masses. Us wins because their music is more interesting, original, and most of all, genuine

lol
do you listen to any electronic music?
pards so naive

/thread

This basically

Does the UK even do hip-hop?

they try their best

The shit that comes out the US nowadays is pretty much unforgiveable

At least bullshit like 1975 is tolerable in its twee frivolity

electronic isn't real music

no, i listen to actual music

we have grime i guess

Is grime hip-hop?

One is dancehall made by Jamaican immigrants in the USA, the other is dancehall made by immigrants in the UK both take the Jamaican MC'ing style and adapt it to localised EDM beats.

>using the term EDM unironically

US and it's not even close. Rock, jazz, pop, blues, hip hop, metal, folk. Easily it's the US. The exception would be most subgenres of electronic music. The reason that the UK took the lead in bleeps was because of the huge influence they took from Jamaica in the latter half of the 20th century, which I personally prefer more anyways.

Are we forgetting Sweden? Sweden is the second largest music exporter in the world.

Decent bands ratio per population?

The UK stomps the US.

Otherwise, the best answer remains

70s is both
80s is totally uk
90s is literally american
00s same

>rock
>metal
>US

And Ulrika Johnson

Oh, and Hampus

...

It's true. WUB WUB WUB UNTZ UNTZ SCREECH NOISES isn't music.

YouTube comments section down again?

And Japan, which has the second largest music industry IIRC

The best metal band (Black Sabbath) came from the UK, but other than a few bands (Iron Maiden, Napalm Death, early Diamond Head) they've had their thumbs up their ass since the late 70s. Rock is easily US as well, especially punk which people normally give to UK.

Germany > US = UK

The question is factitious because """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""British""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" pop music isn't British. It is 100% American music that was developed by and for Americans but gets imitated by British people. Rock, blues, hip hop, house, techno, disco, jazz, folk, R&B etc are all American musics. Radiohead makes American music. The Cocteau Twins make American music. Autechre makes American music. The Spice Girls make American music. There is no debate to be had; Britain doesn't actually create anything to compete against American music.

Delete this god-awful post, please.

American music is all African music via the proxy of human trafficking and slavery.

All you've got is country and blind faggot hicks in the woods playing banjo.

That literally doesn't make any sense you utter, utter mong.
Actually just die.

So rock then.

You are not welcome here

Everything the UK allegedely did well or invented (i.e. Punk, Progressive Rock) they stole from the Americans, who were much closer to the original soul.

UK rock music is incredibly over-rated, and third behind the US and Germany. Their classical and folk has been traditionally known as atrocious, at one point Germany called them "The Land Without Music."

See

And you have even less

>laughingelf.jpg

UK has literally always been on the forefront of music. The only time the US edges out is with hip hop/rap

>the Beatles
>sex pistols
>bowie
>David Byrnes genius
>Joy division
>radiohead
>massive attack
>UK garage
>electronic music
>literally made genres that existed substantially better
>created new genres of music

You literally cannot dispute this

Germany is infamous for being the only country to actively like the musical stylings of David Hasselhoff. What Germans call other countries when it comes to music is utterly fucking irrelevant.

And the land without Hitler or a fucking great dividing wall.

Pet Sounds is unironically better than everything you listed combined

>I can't refute you so I guess I'd better whine about slavery
American music isn't African music; it's the historically unique fusion of many different African and European folk musics that was originally developed in the United States. America is why jazz started in New Orleans rather than Newcastle or Kenya. America is why the electric guitar exists. America is THE progenitor of virtually all of modern pop music.

Is it fuck.

>The Beatles
Decent songwriters, featherweights thematically, hardly in the top 10 bands of their time period. Brian Wilson was much better.

>sex pistols
Punk was invented on the lower east side of new york and had been played much better by artists such as The Stooges and Patti Smith before Sex Pistols and a few other Brits tooks credit.

>bowie
Decent but overrated pop musician.

>David Byrne
Man copies african and funk rhythms and makes them soul-less and "ironic", meanwhile copy-ing the post-punk mannerisms of bands like Pere Ubu.

>Joy Division
are shit

>Radiohead
are shit

>Massive Attack
are shit and not even a footnote in the history of popular electronic

>UK Garage
Usually shit

>Electronic music
Primarily innovated by Germans and Frenchmen

>literally made genres that existed substantially better
Name one. The British Invasion was just watering down Rock n Roll to make it more acceptable for white audiences.

>created new genres of music

So did Indonesia and Peru. What's your point?

Sorry but
Bowie's best > Pet sounds
Radiohead's best > pet sounds
Kylie Minogues' Impossible Princess > Pet Sounds
the list goes on

>PrlxPkwy
is a cunt

bowie = trend hopping, fame whore, coke head. zero artistic integrity
radiohead = faux avant garde pop rock, babbys first alt band

Rock - Germany
Jazz - Germany
Drum and Base super-genre - Germany
Classical - Germany
Electronic - Germany
Generative Music - Germany
Funk - Germany
Dance - Germany
Folk - I'm sure it's Germany somehow

I'm pretty sure the best music for the last 200 years was German. I can prove it to you!

And wrong as fuck
Also nice quints

Beach Boys = barbershop quintet beach bum ripoffs of the B-Sharps

Careful there, edgelord.

My chuwawa usually sleeps in the garage so i let him in there a few minutes ago forgetting that i had placed a few mouse traps in there. the dog is still relatively young and has testicles the size of tennis balls. I mean they are bigger htan his head. Apparently he was dragging those monsters to close to a trap and it snapped right on his nuts. He's really angry right now and won't let me get close enough to help. He already bit me really hard and im bleeding pretty bad. I tried shooting him with a horse tranquilizer dart but I missed and it blew out one of my car's tiresl, so i can't drive to hte vet or anything. My plan right now is to have my 4 yr old approach it from the front to distract the dog while i sneek up behind him and club him with a tire iron. does anybody else have a better idea?

You care to attack my points?

not funny

Neither were you. I was countering your meaningless response with something of equal value.

holy shit you are sad

I can prove it to you...

Hans Joeachim-Roedelius , Conrad Plank, Conrad Schnitzler
Holger Czukay, Achim Reichel, Jaki Liebezeit
Klaus Schulze, Wolfgang Hertz
Michael Rother, Ralf Hutter, Florian Scheider
Edgar Froese, Dieter Moebius, Engler, Asmus Tietchens, Okko Becker
et. al

Strongly disagree with this, the UK has a solid Electronic music scene. Meanwhile the US is putting out far more interesting Rock music nowadays.

I'd much rather take Italy, France or Germany.

I was hoping to get some discussion of the points in, but I can do junior high/ b style ad hominems too.

You crust, liquid and grime at the bottom of the dumpster shit-tube.

t. burger

the beatles got famous playing chuck berry and carl perkins songs from a decade before. john lennon even said as much.

You'd be the only one

>superpowers
>modern music

>elects trump
>brexit

>Being from somewhere else
>being a globalist tool

>>UK garage
>forefront of music
nigga you what

listen to burial dude

Were you also born in le wrong generation?

they cannot really claim MF DOOM, but he is from the UK

also, Slick Rick is GOAT material but it's been a long time

>the beatles
overrated, heavily indebted to american music, worse than beach boys

>sex pistols
known mostly for influence, not special in themselves. i will allow UK punk is better

>bowie
inconsistent, but very good. why wouldn't you say eno or something though?

>David Byrne
american

>joy division
literally second-rate post punk, ian curtis a shit. americans and other non-english anglos perfected post-punk

>radiohead
bloated, arid prog. borrowing from american jazz musicians and krautrock. total nonentities.

>UK garage
fine

>electronic music
fine, if massively overhyped.

US (ausfag's opinon)
US has put out more great music in almost every genre than UK

(i really love UKG though)

t. Anglosphere faggot

>(i really love UKG though)
Burial, the list could go on
