Do it, pussy.

You wont regret it.

Dont do it if you have an education (college based), but join if youre out of highschool and/or dont want to pay for college

Im currently stuck in South Korea with the Army and it lowkey blows.

Go Air Force if you aren't a complete retard

My dad offered to pay for college but i really didnt know what i wanted to do at that point so i turned it down

Where at? Osan here.

I was thinking Airforce or Marines but i lived with an ex marine from that was deployec in like the 70/80s and he said they get treated like garbage even now

I'm a Marine veteran working at Lackland. Seriously some of the dumbest fucks I've ever run into. Anyone who says the Air Force is the most intelligent branch has never been around them.

Would it be possible to request to be stationed in SK or is it assigned?

I envy you since youre in S korea i have a bunch of old highschool friends in the army stationed there and my uncle is there currently for air force

Depends on what job you get. 14 series is usually stuck here.

>join military
>work
>videogames
>sleep
>repeat

what kind of clueless rube are you? what job are you considering? age? education?

Im more looking to travel more than anything, 20/highschool

looking to travel?! check out wwoof. go ??? and work on a farm for a couple months. meet other people who are as lost as you are.

wwoof.net/

I shipping of to navy boot camp in 4 months. Any advice, what does the typical work schedule look like while deployed, how long does a deployment last, what will i do as a CTR, what will a work day look like as a CTR?

I heard the navy was the best branch for traveling, you'll see several countries in your 4 years.

joining the military is for retards, go for it.

Why is that?

what does travel mean? the navy has a few stations that could be considered "vacation destinations". chairforce has a couple bases that aren't completely miserable. marines have pendleton. army has posts in all the worst places you won't want to live. if you got into a socom unit you would get a travel to some decent places and have fun. aside from that, the routine of your military job is going to be very boring. the wars are over if you're not a cool guy. you'll be doing chores and stupid things day after day and regret joining.

Because you're retarded.
That would have been clear if you weren't.

>see

what do you think that means though? do you think the months at sea scraping paint and mopping things make up for ??? hours of leave. what countries do you think you're going to visit?

How ironic, could you have made a statement with any less substance?

Yes.

...

Ha! Too bad all those niggers have criminal records. Not going to happen.

Countries like Taiwan, Singapore, Dubai? But traveling isnt my only reason for joining, after my 4 years of service i want to be able to buy some small nice house, graduate college and do it all, hopefully debt free. I see it as a stepping stone, and with the field ill be going in, i also hope ill be able to find a decent job with my experience.

It's not that bad for violent racist niggers.
They can make good money joining BLM.

>wwoof.net/
Do you have experience with this?
Is it actually legit?

what makes you think you'll be afford to buy a house after 4 years? getting the gi bill makes sense. what job are you considering?

Never heard of this. I'm lost and worthless at the moment..

i met a dude who had some kind of argiculture degree at a hostel in nicaragua who was into wwoof farms. it's a decent way to travel and meet people into different things. it's an adventure without the obligation of an 8 year contract.

So pick a country that interests you and apply for work there on a farm for a couple weeks or months. You work for a few hours a day or whatever and have lots of time to party and explore the area.

Well most of my food will be paid for by the navy, i will also get allowance for housing while not deployed so i should be able to save the majority of my money and hopefully buy some small house around 100,000 USD, which seems like a reasonable amount to save up in 4 years. The job im going in the navy for is a CTR, so i also hope i can get and intelligence job, if not i just use my college degree and find a job in the civilian world.

Should I try it in my home county first?

Country*

you're clueless about how much money you're going to make. hard to say how ctr will play out. have you looked at clearancejobs to see what crypto career opportunities look like? is 4 years enough experience? also you'll need a security clearance for that job. TS expires in like 5 years..i think. so if you get out and spend 4 years in college your TS will probably expire and how useful will your 4+ year old experience be to ???

I wish I would have

30 year old piece of shit now
no discipline
no self control

I visited the website and immediately saw this.
>non-monetary exchange
What kind of hippy shit is this, they dont even pay you with money for your work. Im not going to waste my time doing charity work for non-gmo farms, ill pass.

Yoooo, that pilot yesterday bruh. He aight?

what would be the point of that? also the experience is completely dependent on the farm and people there so how it is where you are isn't how it will be in Belize.

CTT here as long as you network yourself in to a civilian job you should be fine

they feed you and give you a place to stay. you meet people interesting people who could help you get into whatever you're interested in. it's not so much work as an excuse to travel and find something to do with your life.

Do it! Navy vet here.

Use your words like a big girl.

Do you have any experience with it?

Second guy who posted here.

Army is okay, depends on how you look at it.

Pros:
>meet new people
>guaranteed 4 years of income (you honestly can NEVER be broke...it's illegal for them to allow you to not make money)
>possibility to travel
>have interesting/amazing experiences (like watching your SSG shovel tf out of a chicken due to a botched survival training class)
>guaranteed pussy when you get home
>free health care
>free college (if you pay into it for the first year)
>you dont do much most of the time, so easy money

Cons:
>deal with stupid ass people...WITH RANK
>away from friends and family
>can get lonely
>they can really fuck your future up if you break one of their more important rules
>0630 PT formation every work day

Also im at Suwon fam

don't have too much experience, parents were in the Air Force and the Navy, so i was a bit of a military brat, personally it's pretty decent, if you pick the right job then things wont be so bad. I'd prefer the Air Force because their bases are usually funded nicely. The Ramstein Air Force Base over in Germany was a great example of it too, while other bases lacked, the Air Force seemed to have it good.

What did you do in the army? Where did you deploy?

>have you looked at clearance jobs to see what crypto career opportunities look like?
Not as much as i should, the man who got me my job said it was good experience though if you were looking to go into an intelligence field. Also if i get a degree in some IT field i think that would also help with a job opportunity. I didnt know about the clearance expiration, I would think though if i were to find a job in the intelligence field i would be able to reacquire clearance through them.
How would i do that, do you mind going into a little more detail?

Look at the political climate, does getting shot by a goat fucker sound like a smart idea? If not join the air force.

if you're not going to be a pilot then you're just another admin bitch. why join the military to shuffle around papers and boxes wake up early to pretend to exercise. ridiculous.

there's more to the Air Force than flying jets you know, father was a nurse in the navy, somehow even got deployed to Afghanistan too. There's plenty of other job opportunities there.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

your recruiter doesn't know anything about anything. don't believe what he's telling you. if you're interested in crypto then your experience will be based on systems they use. so what does that means?! those systems are very specific and have new versions that come out regularly. look at whatever job posting and they're going to state specific requirements for whatever systems they're using. will you have enough experience with them?

you should pick a civilian job you want to do and then choose your mos or rate or whatever based on how it will allow you to transition into it. is there even an application? what agencies need crypto faggots? who do they pick up? do they even want navy crypto kids with -34 years experience?

I mean...im in Korea, so ive been to different places. I havent actually deployed anywhere yet. Im hoping to next year, wanna go with either 10th Mountain or the 82nd All American...lol anybody actually. As for my job, I'm a Radio Operator...I don't do much aside from fucking around all day (I'm in a retrans platoon in Korea...it blows unless you like not working) but if i were in an infantry unit or deployed i would be the dude with the manpack that handles the radio and relays all the important stuff for HQ or whoever tf wants to listen.

But like I said, im in korea, so the most ive done is jack shit with radios (I learned how to do tropospheric communications though...pretty nifty)

correct, i was army eod. i know all i need to know about the chairforce.

>deployed i would be the dude with the manpack that handles the radio

i never saw this. squad leaders and lt carry radios. pretty sure you would hang out on the fob and fill radios when you're not beating your meat.

The only people that join the military voluntarily are literal cucks.

>work, video games, sleep, repeat.
Unless you have the will to do other stuff nothing much changes if you join the military. The only thing that changes is PT in the morning and longer work hours. Army vet 2012-15, 7th TBX. Even in Afghanistan I just played on my laptop during down time.

You ever get smacked in the mouth with nunchucks?

Damn, really? When did you deploy? Hopefully you're a geezer that deployed like desert storm era, my AIT instructors told us we'd either be doing that or fucking filling keys all god damn day.

Fuck filling keys. Shit is retarded. But yeah, our instructors made mention of that normally command position and since were radio operators we would get that chance to do that

Well aside from transitioning out of the navy and trying to find a job. A CT is genuinely what i wanted, Honestly my first choice would have been a CTN but i was very happy with getting CTR. Also i know the systems will be different but that doesn't change the underlying basics you'll need to know for a job in that field or another. Really for me its about getting my foot in the door or trying to stand out from the other guy. Even if 4 years experience as a CTR in the navy isn't alot its still 4 more years then some other guy applying for the same job.

You joined to be a truck driver you lame bitch. How was that supposed to be a positive life changing experience?

lawl

There's a lot more than just drivers there dumb fuck.

Why are you settling for your second choice? You shouldn't settle for your second choice. You need to remember how long we've been at war. How many dudes got out a couple years ago and recently because of obongo's bullshit and budget cuts. You're going to have a lot of competition. You should have a better idea of how useful this experience is going to be and if there are better choices to make.

are you fucking with me?

If you join the military you will be making an incredibly terrible decision. It is a shit show everyday. Just go to school for something you like to do. If your too autistic to go to school, join the air force, navy or coast gaurd, in that order.

Do an actual job.
If you have combat or it ends in 11, you'll get broken and come home with a 300lb wife, 3 deployments with no money saved and alcoholism.

honk honk

devil dog or admin lady? i could go either way with your attitude.

lolwat

Yeah, i didnt read your post through all the way and basically said the same shit you just told me. My bad.

Unless you meant the last part, in which case, naw. That's legit what we were told when we were at Ft. Gordon

you've never done an ftx with infantry? how do you not know what your job is?

If you want to go technical (engineering/research), go AF or Navy. If you want to blow up/kill some shit, go Army/Marines. If you want to lulwut, go for Coast Guard.

Army Vet here 11B

Deployed to Kosovo 98-99

Don't go army. It's a quality of life issue. You PT 6 days a week in permanent party. I was in the field 7-8 months out of the year in peacetime. You get paid the same as any other service member of the same rank and time and grade.(sea pay/skill pay notwithstanding)
I'd go Airforce. Just better everything. Better food, better facilities, they treat you like an adult. Failing that, Navy.

Also, don't buy into the hype that Marines are the end all be all of the US Armed forces. They do NOTHING that any other branch of the service can't do as well. At this point, it seems that the only reason they are still around is nostalgia.

Cause I havent been in long enough to. Korea is my first duty station. Rn were in the field, so I'm doing radio shit SOMEWHAT, but beyond that I havent really fucked with any actual radios like Harris or MBITR (messed around with SINCGARS like twice) since AIT...and that was back in April

that's wild.

>if you want to lulwut, go coast guard

False. Coast Guard is more for if you wanna drug bust muffugers in bordering countries. Some dope shit.

>>if you want to lulwut, go coast guard

Really? Only a handful of people who I know went coast guard. They didn't even know what they did all day. Paper-pushing mostly.

I personally hate it. We dont work much here in Korea. I know how to conduct tropospheric communications more than I do radio...which sucks shit cause im gonna be going to a new unit in 5 months and i cant say that I know how to do my job title well. And the knowledge I had in AIT is limited because I spent a lot of time at Gordon as a hold over and couldnt practice so it really was shitty man.

The other thing I hate bout the army: cant train for shit on your own. Its fucking miserable

there's like 12 dudes in units who do cool shit like that.

yea you fucked yourself. our commo guy was a useless turd and we filled the radios ourselves. other than filling radios i don't know what you do, especially being less than an e6. sit around and monitor radios for your company or battalion? that sounds exciting. radios are simple and everyone knows how to use them. what were you expecting?

Our commo guy sucks. Maybe all commo guys suck.
