SEQUEL CONFIRMED

America BTFO

Heh, Greetings.

>89.9% foreign

ahahahahah

and they say americans are plebs

Good.
Not a Warcraft fan but I'd gladly watch a sequel.
Tired of Amerilards deciding what is good and what isn't.

>Rotten Tomatoes told me it was bad!!

What's the matter USA not enough shekels to go see a movie? geez

I've heard that apparently the sequel will be a Spartacus-like story about Thrall.
So no 2nd war
Kill me now

Where's the screen cap of 750 million prediction?

all those perma virgins

Thinking the chinese have taste

>Boonie Bears 3

Nice

I figured it would do well in the east.

Hearthstone movie when?

If a movie bombs domestically but is overall profitable, would that warrant a sequel? I liked it and it made me want to see even more of the lore

Ask the Resident Evil franchise

...

Isn't like 89.9% of the population of earth non-American?

>implying he wasn't just memeing

>implying meme magic in't real.

I don't care, the other guy asked for a screencap.

Fuck you.

I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one, which I expect will feature events from warcraft II and warcraft II:beyond the dark portal and also parts from Thralls childhood from the book, "Lord of the Clans."

Yeah it was actually pretty good. I never played the game though so I can't comment on the accuracy but the movie itself was satisfactory. I enjoyed it more than the Hobbit in any case

>budget
>160 million
>didn't make 900 million domestically the first weekend

It's a flop

Thrall's childhood SHOULD be after the 2nd war, but I'm not ure what's going on with the books continuity. I'd assume if they're doing the 2nd War and Thrall, they'll be two movies.

China still loves WoW I guess

>tfw they have Cho'gall come through the portal with ogre sorcery to rescue Gul'dan

>yfw he's played by Melissa McCarthay

*Melissa McCarthy with Rebel Wilson's head CGI'd on

>It's not eve CGI, they just put Mccarthy and Wilson into an XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL TShirt

So you're a commodity fishist now? Nothing will make that movie not trash.

I don't even care about the warcraft movie. I just want duncan to be super successful and be allowed to make whatever movie he wants. easily one of my favorite living sci-fi directors

>all of these idiots who don't realize that films don't receive back all that they make
>that legendary is not a chinese company and is still subject to foreign taxes
>that it's one of the biggest bombs of the year besides Angry Birds or Nice Guys

>dude after taxes it made -$100M lmao

Its also a big ass commercial for blizzard games so they will also be earning money on people buying the warcraft RTS games, WoW and wow subs

>built-in, rabid worldwide audience
>thinking it was ever going to flop
That was never in doubt, the argument was always that the movie wasn't going to be good. Sure enough, the movie that looks and feels like some piece of shit from China, which probably explains why its making a killing there.

wew

That movie was pretty cool, played wow on and off for 5 years, the magic effects were great and the first mok gora was awesome

This is already more than pacific rim and its budget is 30m less

>America
>Relevant
LOL

2nd war wouldn't work so well honestly. It covers a much longer time period that the first war and a lot more happens during it than the first.

In a sequel the best thing they could do is a FotR style opening where they explain what happened during the war. Of course this would mean killing the main villain (Gul'dan) off screen...

This had all the makings of a flop.

it proved that there's a viable market
if they do a sequel most of the art/CGI basis is already constructed

i saw the film and it was choppy but no worse than any Alien or Predator sequel; it wasn't really good, though

for what its worth, the story of Thrall's upbringing is actually pretty badass and worth a film.

are you fucking stupid of course it warrents a sequel the investors dont give a fuck where money comes from so long as they make a profit.

but its a heap of shit

400-500mil is barely breaking even

i thought it was going to be shit when it was annouced 4 years ago and it was and is

You are posting on this board thanks the america.

for about a thousand reasons

more, like 95%

Just saw this movie a few hours ago. I didn't think that Sup Forums could've possibly been accurate in how much it was shit on but wow, it really was a pretty mediocre movie.

There were weak motivations, nonsenical allegiances, uncanny valley problems, editing problems, pacing problems, tone problems etc. I gave it a 2/5 on Letterboxd.

>this would mean killing the main villain (Gul'dan) off screen...
user, Metzen is gonna make Thrall kill Gul'Dan, and finish the second war.
Instead of finishing the second war in exposition, they are gonna make it last until Thrall and Arthas are adults.

Don't you mean the Japanese?

>japanese owner owns a site based on japanese site thats a clone of the japanese owner's original site

>So no 2nd war

How long would it take them to get to Arthas' story in the movies? I mean that is the big story most want to see.

have fun waiting 5 years for the sequel.

It took them 3 years to make this one and probably will take 2 years of pre production.

>bombed in the US
>super front loaded in China
>$200 million of the international was China, only $43 million after the first weekend.
>needs at least $500 million according to the Hollywood Reporter AND Deadline to get a sequel
>Even that total was because they expected much higher totals in the US

I was defending this before any of us had seen it, I wanted it to be good.

After seeing it, I have nothing more to say than a fuck you to Duncan Jones and whoever the demented cunts were who wrote this.

Warcraft has so much good lore, I don't play any of the games but the original lore was pretty fucking fun reading.

How do producers and directors still in CURRENT YEAR fuck up what should be a simple copy and paste job?

who the fuck thought that opening schedule was a good idea? probably cost them 100m

they have to complete the second war, which also covers a lot of things.

Making movies is a really bad idea desu. This would work better in a tv series, enough time to explain situations and develop characters.
Do you imagine asoiaf in a 2 hour movie? it would be a mess, and it would cut a looot of things, just to get to the good parts. And even then, the HBO series cut stuff too.

Blizzard and Legendary really tought they had a winner in their hands, so they moved it from february to june.
In retrospective, february would have been a much better opening, between Deadpool and Zootopia, there were some weeks with nothing on movie teathers, and Zootopia isnt the same demographics.

just having the releases spread out so much across countries, like US release weeks? after some places in europe while it was sitting on 25% RT or something probably deterred people

China owns Legendary now.

>Since 2016, Legendary has been a subsidiary of the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group.

>18 days
>$44,321,060

>Columbia is a Japanese company because Sony owns it guys

Around 150-170 million in profits
Objectively it received 102 million from China, deal with it.
chinafilmbiz.com/2012/11/09/how-chinas-movie-distribution-system-works-part-2/

pacific rim is getting a sequel with only 412 million made and with a higher budget

>MORE FUEL FOR THE SEQUELS

Unfortunately

Except legendary is a Chinese company and the majority of money was made in China and made a direct return. Also no a-listers demanding large chunks of post release profit or contracts for future films. At $412 million made on $160 million this film was absolutely profitable.

Inb4 some retard posts
>Hollywood accounting
With no argument, rational, or explanation.

Hollywood accounting is the reason that things that aren't profitable actually are due to the inflated cost to make them on paper. This movie was just plain old profitable.

But the US is 48% of the total box office

le internet is american meme

>Warcraft made almost as much as X-Men Apocalypse

How can there NOT be a sequel?

Wasn't sequels, like, confirmed with the movie title?
And blizzard kinda needs the movie as an investment/advertisement if they plan on staying relevant in gaming and not to become "that old company who makes childrens card games that i play on my ipad while taking a shit"

we will see more warcraft games, just not on dead genres like rts & mmo

Funking USA guys, why do you have so shit taste nowdays? You prefer shitty horror movies, horribe Bay's tmnt and disney sjw-shit, but not best fantasy after LotR? What the hell is wrong with you? You don't have your own opinion and listening cuckricitcs now like brainless ships? Pathetic.

It's hilarious that you think the yanks have "shit taste" for not loving The World of Warcraft movie as much as you did.

Calm down maybe.

Arthas movie when?

>yfw Sup Forums's soul shall suffer

Calm down, Jackie.

Pacific Rim was made by a passionate guy who really thinks his movie was good
Warcraft was made to print money

Obviously any vidya movie is gonna have some commercial benefit, but if Blizz really was just chasing money they would have made this movie 10 years ago. Both movies had a passionate director and both weren't very good.

They are. This is confirmed kino. Enjoy your capeshit and starshit burgers! haha!

at this rate 2032

DIRECTORS CUT BLURAY RIP WHEN

If they stick to LotC, yes.

I've seen the webm of Thrall being picked up by a human. Is the human named in the movie, or it it random human 342 that turns out to be Durnholde?

The studio obviously doesn't care, but Duncan Jones seems to have really enjoyed making the film.

I wasn't against it. Any major Western film made with minimal Jew involvement is fine by me.
