Voivod is probably obvious recommendation.
As much as I love their earlier albums and all I still think they really achieved an unique atmosphere with album Phobos (1997). Criminally underrated album in their discography.

Hawkwind's "Quark, Strangeness, and Charm" has the best sci-fi themed lyrics of any rock album, imo. It's musically awesome too - high-tech space rock.
