becuz ur a dum fagit

Because you are of normal to below-normal intelligence.

Because you grew up in a time when movies are entertainment and cater to the absolute lowest common denominator. You should stick that, you'll feel better.

>2010 + 6
>still using the word "pretentious"
s-ing h-ing and m-ing at you tbqh

Also any time you use pretentious with out a supporting argument is in fact being pretentious.

w-was it really 2010 that people started using this meme?

>faggots on this board will genuinely claim that shit like Eraserhead and Blue Velvet are good films

Absolute kek. The only good thing to come out of this hack was Twin Peaks.

>David Lynch's movies are art
Jesus christ how low can you get.

That's not how pretentiousness works.

Blue Velvet is cool dude

To be fair, he openly admitted that not even he knew what was going on during Inland Empire. My favorite movie of his is Blue Velvet and I think it's because it has fewer surreal elements and a better overal narrative.

It really is okay. It's not your fault. You've just grown up in a different time and taught different ideals.

It's not your fault.

You're letting the word carry the weight of importance rather than an the reason. You're affecting an air understanding that you obviously don't possess or you wouldn't have hidden it behind the word pretentious.

It's exactly how the word works fagget.

I think rraserhead is shit but some of his other stuff is Ok. Inland empire sucks though

>he only likes Twin Peaks
>uses Blue Velvet as an example of a bad Lynch film

Holy fuck, I didn't even realize this type of person could exist.

Blue Velvet is mediocre.
Eraserhead is funny as fuck.

because your skull is too

>THIC

>posting on Sup Forums
>Not having at least an undergraduate degree in memeology or meme history

He is full reddit

The world's a strange place, filled with stranger people.

lost highway and twin peaks season one are masterpieces
if you cant see that i'm glad i don't know you

>he has seen Inland Empire only once
I don't normally say things like this but you sir are a commoner of the lowest kind.

You really didn't find blue velvet funny?

I couldnt finish Eraserhead in one sitting

But Blue Velvet is fantastic and a stylistic precursor to Twin Peaks. You better figure it out bud

>being this mad about not getting some pretty entry level art

I like blue velvet a lot. Fuck you

Can you explain what those films are about or are you just doing the ol' "bait to trigger people because I have nothing better to do"

>shit acting by everyone except Frank
>shit narrative
>shit dialogue
>shit cinematography
>shit pacing
Literally the only good part out of that film was the joy ride. People keep saying how amazing the "baby wants to fuck" scene was when all I managed to do was laugh at how ridiculously bad it was.

Ok grandpa.

Just because I didn't liked it doesn't mean I didn't get it. It's still pretentious reddit-tier garbage that hipster millenials will claim is good in order to fuck other hipster millenials.

>pretentious
nigga fucking stop this shit right now

Because that's what hipsters buy into as it allows them to pretend they're intelligent because they "get it". His entire career has been financed by the type of people who visit reddit.

>he's still using pretentious after getting blown the fuck out.

So you could say his career has been financed by... Jews?

scream bloody gore

Remember when he was allowed to prove his ability to make a real movie? How did Dune turn out again? He's a one trick pony, only appealing to the intellectually insecure.

by the french largely.

Dune isn't pretentious.

Hell if anything one of the biggest criticisms of the film is that it's fare less complex than the book.

I want his hair.

>Eraserhead
The fears of a young man as he enters adulthood/fatherhood

>Blue Velvet
The intrinsic underlying violence that's often unknown or ignored by people middle-class suburbanites

>Inland Empire
Fuck me if I know.

Or what? You're going to tie me up and make me watch Eraserhead again?

by middle-class suburbanites*

>I got it but didn't like it you reddit teir blah blah blah blah

then what was it about? what was the point? explain your understanding

See

Blue Velvet, while a shit movie is filled with great scenes.

good work

Nigga that shit movie was so obviously about fatherhood that it would be pretty fucking sad if you didn't figured that out 30 minutes into the film.

Like someone said here, Lynch is baby-tier symbolism. The hack doesn't hold a candle to someone like Mallick who can actually use symbolism in his movies without forcing people into shitty surrealism and garbage narrative.

It's pretty funny that you fags couldn't say one thing about Lynch's movies other than vague accusations about the people that like them and calling them shit. ctrl F Pretentious 9 results.

That's all you need to know about people who dislike lynch for nebulous reasons.

>The Straight Story

Plenty of posts here arguing why his films are bad, tho.

I wouldn't say his movies are pretensious actually. they always seemed to be "artsy" or abstract but never talked down to the viewer

are you calling this and argument?

MmmuahhahahthEe French

It's because of Baudrillard who was a champion of Lynch's movies.

www2.ubishops.ca/baudrillardstudies/vol1_2/genosko.htm

That was interesting.

i just watched twin peaks fire walk with me and the lost highway in the last couple days for the first time. both were pretty straightforward and easy to understand. they're not pretentious at all.

You keep using the word "symbolism" when it has nothing to do with Lynch's work. Lynch uses SURREALISM, often turning an everyday place, person or thing into something darker or otherworldly. Glad to see you just finished your first semester of college and have achieved all knowledge. Lynch is one of the ultimate pleb filters and you sir, have failed.

I respectfully disagree. Though you can say that lynch placing seemingly incongruous scenes and images next to each other I don't believe that he's attempting to say anything about the subconscious. Instead I see it more as an undermining of how film creates narrative and verisimilitude.

how are these themes pretentious at all?

don't even reply, this guy's just dumb. Seriously if you can't understand surrealism, then maybe video games are more suited to your artistic tastes

they're not they're just boring mostly.

>Mallick

This whole thread is fucking bait

>pretentious
Haha, then care to explain the "pretense"?

>he hack doesn't hold a candle to someone who can actually use symbolism in his movies without forcing people into shitty surrealism and garbage narrative.
>Malick
>not a hack

even though its his most popular film and you super smart kids are already biased against it for that,
mulholland drive is one of his best works imo

>people actually talking shit about Lynch

you fucks are out of your mind, the man is a genius , he's far from fucking pretentious.

>no one but (((film critics))) and pseudo-intelectuals "like" his films

Yeah, that's pretty much what "genius" boils down to nowadays.

>Judging Lynch on Dune
That kind of shit would get you laughed out of here if this was a physical place

Look everyone a white supremacist. Behold him and laugh.

>current year
>falling for the "equality" meme
Does your wife's son know about how much of a cuck you are?

oh so jews are the only ethnic group you hate?

Sigh. A masterpiece.

Correct. I've watched it four or five times-- it's absolutely mesmerizing cinematography and stream of consciousness story structure. Innovative in a time of utter crap. Jodorowsky did it well, too.

Nah, I hate niggers and spics too. But the fact that you think that's a bad thing is pretty laughable.

What's next? I'm racist for being against Islam?

...

Jesus dude, you're literally the most reddit user I've ever seen on Sup Forums.

I expected to see this sort of faggotry from /lit/ or /r9k/, not Sup Forums.

I don't know why everyone is calling Lynch a hack. He's a good director and a chill dude who just likes to make movies that fit his tastes. When he made an "unpretentious" movie it was good too. See The Elephant Man, no Lynch surrealism, but pure kino.

Been on Sup Forums since 06. your shit wasn't on here then.

racists are like furries. Any crack in the door and they come pouring in.

Lunch just likes to make weird shit. He's a sincere guy, and he makes good movies. It's his FANS that are unbearably pretentious

So true. Every liberal arts student completely cum to Twin Peaks but when you ask them about any of his other movies they look at you funny.

1986 Dune was a good movie.

Why does Sup Forums shit on a visionary filmmaker like David Lynch who has actually influenced both television and film in countless ways?

And yet Refn is being praised for his most recent shit, neon demon. Nothing that faggot has ever done even comes close to the influence of Lynch.

Fuck I hate all of you

This
Why the fuck has no one talked about his best work
Mulholland Drive is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time

It was mine until got to see inland empire

I like it but I prefer the raw work of Lost Highway.

Plus it's more edgy.

>a real movie

You should watch more Lynch as his recent films can be interpreted as being about the growing indistiction between the real and the fake

>Why does Sup Forums shit on a visionary filmmaker like David Lynch who has actually influenced both television and film in countless ways?

the median age of the posters here is probably around 15-16 and the whole place is one giant memekid toilet

the real question is why are you even bothering to rage at teenage dips who can't help being teenage dips?

You should lay off the pipe and get a job, kid.

>he didn't watch The Straight Story

Why do you even watch kino if you're not even going to have fun interpreting? Judging by your cynicism and lack of curiosity I have a better job than you
