But user meal is for kids

THE GREAT KAT IS THE GREATES MUSICIAN ALIV!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are other subgenres even trying?

This time it's personal

Stop hating melodeath

Yes, P2: This time it's personal is great

What is some /metal/ approved prog metal?

Hard mode : made after 2000

Graceless and The Bad Thing from their double album was insanely catchy desu

The Astonishing

Ark, Jorn Lande (Basically a Coverdale clone from Norway) and few of the '80s Shrapnel shred guys, put out a pair of good albums in the early '00s. Stylistically it's still pure '80s, though.

youtube.com/watch?v=z4Eq6LWogvI

Leprous

Nevermore
Disillusion
maudlin of the Well

ne obliviscaris

if you browse reddit

pretty sure most people here like Ved Buens Ende
i sure do

>after 2000
wew

Zero Hour
Sun Caged
Ephemeral Sun
Anubis Gate
Shaolin Death Squad
Arcane
Spheric Universe Experience
Animations
Votum
Epysode

For Reddit-tier trash, try Haken, Leprous, Persefone and Ne Obliviscaris

Also, pic related if you like twinkcore like Seventh Wonder and Voyager

>Anubis Gate
>Leprous
Struck a nerve there

New Persefone is solid. Name ten better 2017 albums.

sorry not sorry

Opeth

Pain of Salvation

>pic related still hasn't leaked yet

who /WOK/ here?

Incorporating just one live song we have a whole albums worth being almost 30 minutes.

I'm about to get Chinese buffet if that counts

>3:00 a.m.
>Chinese buffet
lol fatass

Why are you assuming I'm in Hawaii

FUCKING HOSTILE

Threadly reminder that Opeth is the only band who have actually played progressive death metal

just got into slam

youtube.com/watch?v=t-72e3i4bZY

anyone else feeling this?

slam comfier than a floating bed made of rose pedals

My bad sometimes I realize the rest of the world exists

Daily reminder that you're full of shit

This was my favorite of that batch which was a really good batch. I should listen to them all more.

do you like Grip Inc. , homeboys?

mah nigga
mikael even said he drew lots of inspiration from edge of sanity. Hell, mikael and dan have collaborated on multiple occasions.

I'm am fat though so yeah all you can eat ice cream for dessert is probably not the best decision but what the hell

Edge of Sanity gets a pass because they're buddies with Opeth, but most people think "progressive" just means long songs with unconventional song structure

fatties get out
only skellies are allowed

its a disease, slam is unstoppable and only growing

goddamn Built On Tradition is S L A M M I N G

Before I started lurking here, I'd never have imagined that one day I'd find slam comfy.
Just finishing my first listen to pic related as I type this. The slightly proggy instrumental track in the middle is surprisingly good.

>Haken, Leprous, Persefone and Ne Obliviscaris
>redditcore

Kys

>Votum
Lel you mean that Riverside clone band?

And this new Persefone is fucking awesome I'm telling you

>"progressive" just means long songs with unconventional song structure
Uh, it does you idiot

Decent band for grooveshit

>Aathma is #1 album of 2017 on RYM
>there are already avant-teens and nu-males downrating and complaining
kek

Feels like a hollow shell of Spiritual Migration

Core > Shin-ken > Spiritual Migration > Aathma > Truth Inside the Shades

How so? Like SM was more dramatic and emotional?

it's like that for every album, compadre

I'm digging the new darkest hour album
shit is tight as fuck
beautiful guest solo from based kris norris

Not as many memorable parts. The last track is pretty bad. And I'm not a huge fan of that guy from Cynic, though I think Living Waves is the best track on the album.
But all I can think when I hear the middle break in that song is how it reminds me of Majestic of Gaia and how it's nowhere near as good.

P2 : This time it's personal

Well I admit Aathma is my introduction to them although I listened to the previous 2 or 3 albums the week it came out but just once each.

...

What are yall blastin?

i like this guitar tone so fucking much
i can't even choose a favorite song, although "The Crippler" and "Body Parts" are pretty high up there

>being gay in 2017

>being Australian

best song is Wachturm, but I think a requirement for even liking it is being German.

it's a good song, but yeah it's pretty clear Tom was better at his german than at his english

Which album here is the best

Transcendence into The Peripheral, how is this a question

Top left my dude

Good taste

I still love Anathema but I've been blasting this all day wishing they were still doom

Anathema are honestly etter as alt/prog rock band than doom band
MDB and PL were better at doom anyway

Yeah I get that too, I just wish they'd have some more edge on their music these days of that makes sense

Based CoL

why is Rigor Mortis so good?

spotted the nu-male

(You)

what's some metal similar to this? (that
s not Iron Maiden) last.fm won't help cause there's also a rapper called Cage

youtube.com/watch?v=2N0Xjqq6g8I

>be two legendary guitarists from Mercyful fucking Fate
>get together again to make some evil Satanic metal
>hire some literally who Christian power metal vocalist from the USA

Saxon
youtube.com/watch?v=vv67BzuZ_oE

looks fucking good, thanks

saxon are already one of my favorite bands - but that's a good rec, thanks

What other bands do you listen to?

Anything more like this?

digging their discog my man

Is anyone prescribed to the metalhead box? Is it worth the money?

that's in a similar fashion or in general?

if you mean similar stuff that I like there's Iron Maiden, Saxon (also some stuff like Mercyful fate, savage, and witchfynde), and I also like some Power Metal, especially Sabaton and Powerwolf (yea I know, the pliebiest choices - but it's too much fun)

>prescribed

subscribed, fuck sake

Definitely not

Is this the same person? Cos if not this is a good rec imo

>features Paul Masvidal and Oystein Landsverk
>doesn't feature Björn "Speed" Strid

>is proge

Wtf this is actually a thing
Gross

How do you say proge? Pro-gay?

Like doge

>progè

try the following
>Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. I and II
>Liege Lord - Master Control
>Overkill - Taking Over

Does later Death count as prog?

Sanctuary my dude

But Daniel Tompkins is the Björn "Speed" Strid of proge
