U first

I didn't know how I felt about it when I first saw it but it stuck with me for a few days. Really want to see it again.
Can't wait for there to be a torrent of it so the rest of Sup Forums watches it and begins posting about it similar to Green Room threads that have popped up the past couple days.
Also
>your name is Bean?
Best line.

No, we weren't able to steal it yet.

Haha I lost it at
>So I heard your parents are dead, must be hard

You should be able to in a few weeks

Visually, it was amazing. The soundtrack also nailed it with the style of the movie. The plot didn't really grab me though. Overall, not half bad

Real lolita shit

yfw sex or food?

Incredible. First time I went it was only me, my girl, and a single old man a row down from us. Saw it again last night and it was just my girlfriend and her friend and her boyfriend. Her friend loved it but I could tell her boyfriend had no idea what the fuck happened. 10/10 score and I'd love to jerk off to the shower scene but I'd also feel very wrong about myself, that shit felt very satanic for some reason. Anyone know what to make of the occult undertones the film seemingly had?

>"This is my friend Dean" >"Your name is BEAN?!" Kek

One of the most visually stunning movies i have ever seen. i fucking loved it.

Jesse looked fucking completely evil and powerful when it faded to red during that runway show. Absolutely insane and kind of scary desu desu

yesss, my favorite scene. i saw it last night. all the fashion was so beautiful and the long cuts and amazing shots + style was so great. i'm a huge waifu and fashion fag so this shit was perfect. everyone was so gorgeous. soundtrack has me listening to my downtempo house playlist since i got home late last night til now still..

is this a guy

No

I liked it a whole lot, and I'm only feeling better about it as it sits with me. Beyond the obvious visual and music praise,
I thought the plot was plenty present and captivating, and the acting was find. I actually found the script quite realistic at times. There was a thread last night about nightcore films, and Neon Demon really did a fantastic job of capturing that brooding yet comfy feel, sort of like Eyes Wide Shut. The ending really wasn't that out of no where, if you were paying attention it was all laid out. I really liked the Elle death scene. While it wasn't incredibly deep, there was some nice and well executed symbolism, ultimately a really cool film to watch

>Budget: 7 million
>Box Office: 1.8 million
JUST

that thread was awesome.

i got the whole list if anyone wants it.
who fucking cares, the style of that movie was unbelievably good.

...

what went so right with elle?

Refn compromised his vision with all those plot hooks.

Refn succeeded at making me laugh multiple times. Thoroughly entertaining.

...

Is her natural hair colour dark?

Yeah, the blond hair is fake.

Has she ever had her hair undyed? Maybe she would look even better as a brunette.

she's dyed it brown before.

Was bummed reeves wasnt in it more. Hope Refn makes an action film or something fucked up with him as the main guy down the road.

The necrophilia scene reminded me of this.

Udo Kier, what a guy!

That Bond-esque action film set in Tokyo, written by Schrader and directed by Refn would be perfect for Reeves. It's supposed to complete the loose trilogy of Valhalla Rising and Drive.

*don't know what I thought. Written by the two Bond writers, NOT Schrader.

Yeah I need a refn action movie in my life, with Keanu that shit would just be insane.

Haven't had a movie stick with me this much after a week in a long time.

EVERYONE needs to see this thing in theatres, it won't be the same at home.

You spoilered me bro

>EVERYONE needs to see this thing in theatres, it won't be the same at home.
THIS

she look weird as fuck in the measurements/walk scene

Best movie in years, it deserves so much better than this.

At least I'm sure Refn knows he made something great. Hopefully Elle really appreciates what she's been a part of as well (and it seems like she does).

Yeah i loved it a lot. my favorite movie this year is Cloverfield but this is a close 2nd. the plot wasn't very good but i dont care literally everything else was an 11/10

Harmony Korine is doing an action movie next. Should be good.

His best film tbqh

Such a perfect description. Obviously it's nightcore but this and EWS seem so similar, especially in their themes of degeneracy and sexual liberation/oppression

>nightcore

What did he mean by this?

Movies that take place primarily at night, and have a heavy emphasis on the atmosphere that nighttime and it's aesthetic create

Elle Fanning is the most attractive girl in Holywood.

I never thought so until I saw this movie

Seeing Keanu playing this huge asshole was really hilarious to me for some reason. Def kind of a meme character, in a good way.

It was trippy seeing him acting without the Keanu voice for the first time too.

I just saw it in the theatre. Did I like it?

I've argued for a while that Elle is the most aesthetic girl right now, the muse. She's been the girl that art world people and high fashion people and those who admire style usually appreciate.

It is really fitting, and a great use of this opportunity, to have her star in what is like the ultimate a e s t h e t i c film, that focuses on her ineffable 'thing' and the kind of radiant quality and pull it has, and how people with such ineffable gifts (the 'thing') draw so much hate and obsession.

And I mean for all the point-missing critics who say this is style over substance (as if style isn't everything, as if causality isn't aesthetic)... it totally defines this era of image but also objects, of aura and aesthetics and the internet and waifuism and post-internet, post-media occultism.

I laughed at Keanu's hard candy line.

What were people's thoughts on Jenna Malone? I thought she stole the show personally.

Good post.

She was good. I felt everyone was perfectly cast. The fashion photographer guy. And that fashion director who said "beauty is the only thing". His response when Elle did her walk was perfect and hilarious.

In all seriousness, has there ever been a more waifu film than this?

I don't mean simply involving attractive starlets, but being more specifically about their absurd magnetism and power. I mean there's Lolita, but this was more about the whole waifu industry around them.

It's literally the Waifu Movie

7 Mil is fucking nothing anyway, it was an art project and "art" or not the producers didn't go for a huge box office hit obviously

7 Million loss is nothing worth shedding a tear over, that's practically a film for free for such a big contemporary director and a few a listers

Yeah, and it will easily eventually earn that money back, and will become a cult classic, and everyone who was involved will be thankful to have been a part of it.

How hard refn tried to sell the audience in her beauty was cringeworthy, she looks really average, all the other girls had something otherworldly and alien, in my opinion much better than the pale girl from the neighbourhood

Holy fuck that was so hot, the "rape" scene was a real let down because Elle didn't give in to Jesse.
Holy fuck I popped boners left and right there

Just found that I can stream the soundtrack. Listening to the seizure-inducing dance track right now, shit is fucking hype.

I was actually freaked out by pretty much everything past her meeting what I like to think of as the actual Neon Demon, the red Triforce. Shit got real cannibalistic/necrophiliac real quick.

I think - and they seemed not to want to say this too directly - was that she had that virginal youthful beauty that the fashion industry desires and wants to exploit, and sells the best.

She may not be the most beautiful girl, exactly, but she does have a graceful, aesthetic quality that appeals to the more high fashion crowd (and gets her in a lot of shoots and good dresses), and she does have that eternal youth thing that it all really comes down to.

I assure you, all these 'hotter' 20-something looking models really would rather look like her. Which was kind of Refn's point, and he's stated it in interviews for the film - that there is that obsession with youthful image, and it's getting younger.

Should have been called Semon Demon.

i have the whole soundtrack downloaded if you want the mp3s

Fuckin' sweet, you guys updated my list. Glad to see that can be of use to y'all.

There was also a mixtape of atmospheric eurosleaze, ambient, electronic etc that Refn gave to all the cast and crew to listen to to constantly be in the mood and vibe.

It's really good.

Someone made a playlist of the mixtape here:

>Daily reminder that she did literally nothing wrong

I don't know if "fashion" wants this kind of gal but to me she seemed rather boring and average, I'm completely honest, never understood the people who are so into her

Isabelle Adjani for example I'd understand, she has this pure innocent look, and I think, at least I read, that Refn tried to go for the Giallo style and I think Adjani would've fit in perfectly in one of those trashy Italian thrillers

Madonnas daughter for example, is someone I personally think is really beautiful, but I know she wouldn't fit this movie at all.

>semon
One job user, one job

I think it's just the young angelic thing. And white/blonde. As problematic as it may seem, there will always be an obsession with that as the ultimate trump card.

gonna blast this on my afternoon walk thanks

(same poster continuing)

But I agree that Isabelle Adjani is one of the great beauties. If we're going to talk about beauty-beauty, yeah, that's it. Ultimately you see actual ~beauty~ more in Europe and the old world.

Yes please user

It was great. Them fucking visuals. Once its out on torrents i will fap to it.

That one scene, you know which one, it will be posted on Sup Forums for years to come.

I think it will probably produce a lot of Sup Forums memes, and yeah, a lot of fap material

It had a surprising amount of great lines, too.

i'm about to leave the house for an hour, can you shoot me your skype real quick? i'll add you before i leave.

>YOU ! I've decided you're gonna close the show

That guy was so classic.

One meme / reaction webm I think will be this character's reaction face to Elle doing her runway walk in her panties.

That expression just said it all.

BEAN?

I also like the 'your name is BEAN?" line, given all the real human bean memeing over the years

I loved the two times he delivered sharp lines while pointing his finger at the camera.

Also why was he uncredited ?

video no loner available, someone pls re-up

I mean the first video, so I cried. it's not available

the fact that the film is called Neon Demon (Semen Demon) and stars top tier waifu material Elle

I just tried it right now, worked for me. it might be a licensing issue in your country.

you could try to see if it's up anywhere else on youtube and then recreate the playlist with that one added, I suppose

i know you probably dont want your skype on Sup Forums so shoot me an email at [email protected]

i'll be back soon

>problematic
Are you implying it's bad that whites are more beautiful than other races?

Madonnas daughter by the way is white, also using the world problematic should be a bannable offence

Saw it in a sneak preview. Some people left during the movie. Same happened at cannes. I seriously can relate with those people. Here is my humble opinion:
Good soundtrack
Nice visuals
Non existant dialog
Very tedious at times
90 minutes of nothing followed by 20 minutes of total provocation with tabu topics
2/10 stay the fuck away from it. Seriously everyone who says the film is superb is just hungry for that drive director. Drive was a good movie this is not.

If you are not into pretentious art flicks just for the sake of it there is no entertainment value whatsoever.

pleb

No, I was just using the word I know a lot of people these days would use for such a notion. Personally I'm more of the type of person who just calls things for The Way They Are and fuck it if it's politically offensive.

I agree with you though, problematic is an insufferable word. I take it back.

first half was better than the second, it got kinda dumb near the end
6/10
