Just heard this for the first time and felt nothing. Some of the tracks seemed downright boring. I might be willing to give it a second chance based off the reputation it has. Is it supposed to be a grower?

bit of a grower. Heard it like 4 times already and still not too big on it. It's meant to be listened to loud, so if you're not doing that, then it doesn't sound too great.
People love it so much due to the thick, dense layers of feedback and distortion that sound warm and fuzzy that kinda just wrap around you. My problem with it is that beyond that, most songs don't have a solid core, where the music they bury under the effects sounds boring.

Yes, it's haze rock/shoegaze so it's definitley a grower. First time I heard it I felt nothing and all I could hear was roaring guitars and effects and couldn't even hear the lyrics. Then one time I jammed out to When You Sleep and I've loved the album ever since.

Yes it is defintely a grower, I hated it the first time I listened to it. But slowly after several listens it became my all time favorite album.
