Something specific

I had my girlfriend listen to Dragonforce yesterday. She really liked the magical/mystical sounding segments and liked the almost celtic sounding melodies. She did not however like the speedy drumming. (Odd that the speedy guitar playing didn't bother her. Lol)

My question is if there's any bands that might have a similar sort of epic/mystical/Celtic sound while still being hard rock or metal? And not necessarily specifically celtic music.

what the fuck

Also, not something with over the top symphonic sounds either

kys

Its a simple question

Try any Viking Metal or Symphonic Metal?
A lot of metal bands do this.
Probably not the most famous choice in Sup Forums, but since you posted DragonForce, I don't think that'll matter:
Nightwish.

oh man i know exactly the band for her but i cant remember what it's called bc i only listened to them once a year ago. arg.

wow. just wow. This is where my tolerance and acceptance of other people's taste ends.

Explain

or dont. go jerk off or something

there's an entire genre of that, it's called power metal/symphonic metal

I will try these. Thanks

Neither one of us like the symphonic stuff in the background

give me a specific dragonforce song

I only had her listen to Through the Fire and Flames. She liked everything about it except for the drums

try the last journey home or any of their gay ballads

Anything nightwish. It is literally the chick metal band.

Also maybe rhapsody of fire

This also still has the drums she doesn't like. The speed drumming gets on her nerves.

"sounds like he's about to have a heart attack, and Im about to have one with him" was what she had to say about that style of drumming

Tell her to go listen to fuckin Jack Johnson or some shit then

I don't know what to tell you, you want metal without drumming?

This is heavy metal in the 21st century. Can't wait for the Muslims to destroy Europe.

they're Swedish too

Yeah I'm not surprised by that. Gayest shit I have ever heard.

Led Zeppelin is as far into that world as anyone needs to go

shit like this

i hate it but im sure you two would like it

Well, some stuff with epic melodies BUT without the symphonic elements would be Viking Metal... but you don't want fast drums WHILE still being Rock or Metal??

You contradict yourself OP, maybe try Burzum's ambient stuff?

Go to: Symphonic Folk Metal

Runrig? idk

they definitely fit "slightly mystic sounding celtic rock" but even their most rocky numbers probably aren't hard enough for your gf

Didn't say without drumming. Just not the super fast stuff. There's lots of metal that isn't lightning fast on the drums

>all these brainlets hating on power metal
go listen to kanye west you plebs

The thing is that most Power Metal (which has the most mystic elements) it's fast as fuck. A lot of those bands have ballads tho, but they're few and pretty cheesy.

You really have it hard with this one m8, try this one tho

Power metal is for autists and only autists.

top five favorite albums go

I love power metal too, but it's pretty embarrassing.

another example of Runrig in english rather than scots gaelic

this ones starts slow but it does end about as "hard rock" as they ever got

how do we save power metal?

Black Sabbath - Masters of Reality
Tool - Lateralus
Elder - Lore
Gojira - Terra Incognita
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

I like power metal at times but you can't deny that it is autist music.

Try symphony x or spawn of possession

respectable.

power metal is just a fun and energetic style of music. i think the problem is that everybody takes it too seriously.

Yeah, I think that's why I could dig dragonforce more than most power metal, they never really seemed to be serious about anything. I like the music but I generally find it a bit too cringeworthy to really get into. I feel the same about a lot of music though.
