From my personal experience being both employee and employer they say they want to work hard but never do. I've seen them happily brag that they lie about their kids being sick so they can leave work. They're catty and clicky; I had to hire a second "book keeper" to be an emotional support person because they fight and argue with each other all the time and bring their relationship drama into work with them, at least twice a day someone runs through the offices crying. I had to fire a woman 3 days before Thanksgiving; an employee brought to my attention that her productivity was awful, so we monitored her activity and her browsing habits, well it turns out she's spent about 90% of her work day fucking off on pinterest and Facebook, not only that but she was grossly unqualified for her job, unfortunately she was hired as a favor before I started here. Her husband made her get a job because she didn't think she had to work.

Yep there's always that liability too, any time I write up a female employee or fire them, I have to have a woman from senior staff with me just because of the risk of sexual Harassment and rape accusations. Most companies have quietly adopted this policy over the last decade or so as well.
