I am a catholic who opposes abortion, but poor uneducated people, generally quite indigenous, who have 4,5,6,7,8+ kids, are a very serious problem for the development of the country.

i think this kind of thing is inevitable as automation ramps up, maybe accept sterilisation for universal income at some point. pretty sure places like sweden actually had these policies at one point but it's crazily taboo (understandably)

Argentina has far more people with downs syndrome than France, not because we have genetic problems (we are the opposite of inbred), but because here there is no abortion, and in France the usual thing is having the fetus screened and aborted if it has a birth defect.

Poor people is very Catholic, middle and upper classes not so much. But I think the biggest difference is between people that lived here before the European migration and people who arrived then. People who were here before are much more Catholic than those descended from the European immigrants. The old Spanish settlers are very Catholic, and the mestizos are very Catholic too.

In Spain it is just the opposite: Gypsies, Moors and undesirable people have many children, thanks to the subsidies that bath them in money at the expense of the rest, for them, abortion is not an option.
