Ok so question, do you tip people?

Ok so question, do you tip people?

Personally, I avoid eating at places because I don't like people hovering over me to find out if I'm fine every 5 minutes. I also don't like how everyone is expected to tip a food worker. If they are not earning enough money working as food workers, why don't they try to find another line of work? Also, why do jobs like this even exist where someone could tip? Shouldn't all minimum wage jobs earn the same amount? Doesn't this encourage people to not eat at establishments thus less money for businesses? Why the fuck am I going to eat somewhere I can potentially receive bad service, but even if I don't I have to give up more money just because it's expected of me? Anyways I just eat at home now. What do you guys do? Is tipping ok or not?

Well, servers don't earn minimum, they make less because they get tips. They get tips as a way of measuring how good of a service they've provided. If they were a shitty server, don't tip.

Flat 15%

>why don't they try to find another line of work?
quit your job right now and go fin another one that will pay your bills. or have you never worked a day in your life because you still live off daddy's dollar?

Tipping is basically welfare. Fuck you for being poor and having a shit job, not my fucking problem.

I tip if I dine in, and it doesn't bother me, but you're doing the right thing doing carry-out if you have a problem tipping. Nothing wrong with that.

shut up at get me some more fries waiter

If you're a good waiter you're gonna make a hell of a lot more than minimum wage especially at nicer places. Honestly since tipping is the norm for most people I really wouldn't feel bad at all for not tipping.

And that's why wait staff don't want minimum wage.
They are already legally entitled to minimum wage if their tips don't cover it, so they cry about how poor they are knowing that they already earn more than minimum wage.

Except that a lot of the times their tips are taxed and/or forcefully split between some of the other staff members.

I tip when appropriate but the whole thing does seem kinda stupid. Tips really only deserve to be given on certain occasions when the service is exceptional.

Thanks to people like Herman Cain, however, the whole system has been set up where the workers are screwed on wages and have to get the tips just get a decent wage. It is unfair to workers and hurts them while helping corporations get richer in the process

its proven that a majority of people will still tip bad service but never come back to the establishment again. tipping does hurt the businesses. A place here in portland doesnt allow customers to tip and at the same time pay their servers 35k/yr with benefits. He said business has never been better.

at a sit down place yes. its the service charge, kinda weird not to include it inside the rest of the costs in the price like gas, electric, rent, food costs, ect, but everything has a price.

I guess one advantage is you can judge how good the service was.

If its a take out place I don't usually, its too public and i always spaghetti myself if the person behind the counter can see how much they are worth. unless I do the coin dump, but I keep my coins in big ammo cans, becuse of OCD and autisum.

when you have your car worked on, you pay for parts + labor to have them install it

when you're at a restaurant, you pay for food + labor so you can sit your ass down and have someone bring it out to you and keep your glass full of refreshing beverage

Tipping is not required. If you can't afford to tip you shouldn't be out eating. 15% is not not much you spend 10$.
Don't tip if the service is bad and if it was really bad talk to a manager. Or just eat ur food, don't tip and go home you autistic fuck.
Also 9/10 bait.

says the cunt working at mcdonalds, ffs stfu you wanker

This. Op honestly sounds pretty clueless

tripping is required however

American tip system is retarted. It's not a big deal to not tip where i live

fffffffffffuuuuuuuck..

Only if there hot

Touched a nerve did I? I studied hard, worked hard and moved my way up into a good job. I'm not going to feel guilty for that.

YOUR problems, are not mine. The only justification you can come up with for why I should pay your way is that you can't manage without me, that my friend is called welfare.

You have my sympathy, but you ain't getting my money.

It's not about the money. Tipping is just a dumb Tradition

Little do you know OP sitting behind a $3,000 computer eating chinese food smoking a fat blunt and watching walking dead on a 4k tv he earned with money from his insurance job selling shit to mostly 16-18 year olds like you who can't even drive properly yet coming in with their moms to my office. maximum kek,
