I'm too scared to listen to this album right now
Which means it's the perfect time to listen to it

I listened to in a dark room, and i even got scared of my own shadow.

We love you all.

A God with horns a God with hooves

I remember the first time I listened to this. I was writing a paper on Italian Fascism and it was 2 AM and I was in my family's house alone in rural Ontario. Scared the fuck out of me.

Yeah. I can't even finish the album, it's too scary. It makes me paranoid and scared. It also gave me nightmares once.

yeah geogaddi is an experience, also never fall asleep while listening to it lmao. Woke up when "opening the mouth" started and i thought there was spoopy ghosts surrounding me.

What the fuck is this meme. This album is not scary, you fucking plebs.

BOC best album, wishing for an album like this again soon

...

That's what I'm listening to right now, just came on.
Weird.

I used to fall asleep every night to a boards of canada album. I think it messed me up

It's a not meme, dude. Have you not listened to it? It's terrifying. Like creepy as fuck, sounds like some weird cult-satan worshipper shit or some weird mindfuck uncanny valley movie shit. It's odd and I can't listen to it. Especially on any substance or alone at night.

the best BoC album to fall asleep to is The Campfire Headphase, so fucking relaxing.

Fuck this album. It's too intense and creepy, I hate it. Listened to it once on shrooms cause I wanted to see if it was too much and it terrified me so much I had to shut it off after about 5 minutes and I was shaking and had a panic attack.

I don't think you understand what we mean by "scary." It's the nuance of it.

yea I agree

i find it relaxing but when "You Could Feel The Sky" comes on i usually turn the volume low. thats like the only creepy song on the album.

Yeah I've listened to it a shitload. It's chill as fuck like every other boc album. Maybe a little more intense at times and a lot more cryptic but not actually scary.

>chill as fuck

No. Maybe a few songs are a bit less intense than others but it's still horrifying

>it's too scary
>It makes me paranoid and scared.
Yeah, it has a pretty strong effect, i got really scared when i saw the cover and noticed shapes.
>never fall asleep while listening to it lmao.
kek, almost fell asleep during it.

Geogaddi feels me to like something very warm and bright and translucent yet sad. Like the world's most depressing summer vacation.

the only BOC album I refuse to listen to all the way through. My friend put it on once and after "The Devil Is in the Details" came on i told him to stop playing it. its too dark for me and gives me anxiety. some weirdos like it but whatever, i cant stand it.

>horrifying

No. Maybe a few songs are a bit more unsettling than others but it's still chill as fuck

i haven't listened to geogaddi in a looooong time
suppose it's time to do it

stop trying so hard to sound cool, faggot. we all know the album is scary as fuck unless you're a psychopath with no emotions or deaf

I ruined that track for myself when I read a YouTube comment saying that the main beat in that song sounds like someone farting
Now all I hear is BBBRRRRRRAAAAAAPPPP

chill songs

1. Music is Math
2. Dandelion
3. Sunshine Recorder
4. 1969
5. The Beach At Redpoint
6. Dawn Chorus
7. From One Source All Things Depend

Spooky Songs

1. Beware The Friendly Stranger
2. Gyroscope
3. Julie and Candy
4. Opening The Mouth.
5. Alpha and Omega
6. The Devil is in the Details
7. Diving Station
8. You Could Feel The Sky
9. Magic Window

W O W SO many sensitive little babies on Sup Forums

:( guise dis is so scawy it made me go peepee in my pants :((( :'( turn it off pweeze me no wike it, it spooky!111

y'all are such pussies its not even scary its just weird This is why I no longer come here, you people are such little wimps. This board is so liberal ugh

I just listened to it right now
it was chill but i also had to close it at around 5 minutes b/c it was getting creepy

Wow interesting. Halfway through this album right now, revisiting it.

O V E R R A T E D !

This album sucks seriously. It's about the same length as first, but feels 10x longer because nothing is memorable. So many short filler tracks that flat out suck. People say its "darker" I don't know about that, it's just weaker.

The first record is a masterpiece. This is really just rehashing the same stuff but way worse.

I only heard the Campfire album once and it was much better than this.

dude same lmao

/Spooky/

i'm not trying to be cool you idiot

it might be scary as fuck for only the people who are new to music

those more unsettling songs are more annoying than scary, especially the first half of You Could Feel The Sky

This is true. It's a split of chill, cool songs and some weird, creepy (maybe even scary) songs. I like it though, it's their most interesting and experimental besides MHTRTC in my opinion. Also someone made a music video for Julie & Candy and it's really creepy but it's interesting: youtube.com/watch?v=vuG39sZxMp8

>wow so weird xD

Am I plen for only liking the song with the moaning and gyroscope

>see all these Sup Forums threads about this album
>"it's so scary! It's the scariest album ever!" Ihate it!"
>Listen to it in the car
>Hot, sunny day
>"Nothing scary. just a bunch of pussies on the internet I guess"
>Later that night
>Wake up with the album running through my head
>Heart pounding
>Feel weird, have to move around to feel normal
>Check clock
>3:00 AM
>Cover my head in my blanket
>Try to go to sleep
>Can't sleep
>Remember fears I used to have as a young child
>I keep looking over my shoulder now as I type this
If you've never listened to this album, don't do it. It's demonic.

Add Corsair and Ready Let's Go to spooky
You have a penchant for spooky

Not at all. My favorites are easily: 1969, Dawn Chorus, Beware The Friendly Stranger, Julie and Candy, and Alpha and Omega.

>song with the moaning

Dawn Chorus? That's the best song

"a god with hooves, a god with horns"

Yeah it's no meme, this shit straight up made me afraid to sleep while I was really baked once. It's kinda neat though and I like 2 songs but the rest is creepy as shit.

If you slow that sample down you can hear church bells, fire crackling and a woman screaming

yeah its fucking awesome, i love the little tidbits they hide in the music.

can someone tell me exactly why this album is spooky or scary or whatever
it's more nostalgic in an abstract way than spooky

hidden satan/cult backmasked shit, creepy sounds/voices, old horror movie samples, moaning

About more than half of it is pretty creepy, depends on the person though some won't mind it as much as others. Anxiety plays a role I'd say.

There's constant lying undercurrent of something really ominous throughout the album, it's like a certain sound, like those droning notes in the beginning of Sunshine Recorder. It drains the feeling of nostalgia too and it makes hollow on purpose creating a strangely pastoral and plastic feel.

Yo what are your guys thoughts on In A Beautiful Place Out in the Country?
The best release next to Geogaddi imo

Zoetrope is a beautiful song. I really love ABPOITC.

Easily their second best, some might even like it more than Music Has The Right To Children. Depends on what sound of theirs you enjoy though. I personally would rank 'em like this:

Music has The Right To Children > Geogaddi > Campfire Headphase > Tomorrow's Harvest

album is utter trite. the first and 3rd are lightyears better. their new one has grown on me and on first listen i liked it better than boring shit geogaddi.

I love 1969, so chill and trippy. Easily the best track besides Dawn Chorus. (Which always reminded me of a porno)

I love this video of Dawn chorus someone made: youtube.com/watch?v=0LZMzDSjz4s

>hidden satan/cult backmasked shit, creepy sounds/voices, old horror movie samples, moaning

maybe i'm just fucked up but i don't think these are too scary, dark sure, but they're more interesting in the context of the music than they are scary

stop trying to look cool, nobody here can see your leather jacket and sunglasses

>listen to Tomorrow's Harvest.
>It's fucking shit.
>Have to wait another almost-decade for their next try.

It's not fucking fair.

it's not a scary album and you're a bitch if you think it is

If you don't find it scary, you're probably autistic

It is though, it terrified me when I listened to it and scared the shit out of my friends

Woah, My mom doesn't even let me swear like that, you're so cool. You're so cool. You're coool.

"when lava pours out near the sea's surface tremendous volcanic explosions sometimes occur"

there's not really anything scary about it lol what the hell guys. maybe I can see anxiety but the anxiety doesn't come from the sounds used, it's more from the fact that some tracks meander so long and I'm anxious for it to end because I just want to get this album over with

mhtrtc is infinitely better

That was Leslie Nielsen, right?

Stop trying to be cool, Johnny.

yup!

Ohai Mark

its okay user its not for you.

Dawn Chorus is just too beautiful, those slightly out of tune synth strings and shit fffuuuuu

Kind of negates any spookiness the res of the album suggests

its like breathing in some fresh air.

Man reading this thread and the other Geogaddi thread that's up right now it making me realize how different my perspective is.

The thought of this album being creepy or scary never even crossed my mind. I'm not trying to be a tough guy or anything, I just never ever interpreted the album to be like that at all.

RDJ Album is spooky. This is just homework music.

From One Source All Things Depend should've been the last track on all the editions of the album t b h, I know it wouldn't cater towards the 66:06 gimmick but it nicely ties the album together

Bullshit. And if youre not trolling...how? I can maybe see it for most of the beginning but towards the end its so spooky.

I'm so confused as to how you can think I'm trolling. I'm someone who is easily spooked, even by stupid Youtube videos.

What tracks do you find scary?

i do enjoy seeing everyone's perspectives on this album. Half of us think its scary and disturbing the second thinks its chill and relaxing. makes for a good conversation.

Tracks 10-19

I fall asleep to my BoC playlist, including Geogaddi. I share your sentiment, I've never really been unnerved or afraid, just very relaxed/calm.

Is this a meme? Was not unsettled 1 bit listening to this album, it just sounded like your standard IDM affair.

People who don't find the album scary or unsettling probably had a very good and sheltered upbringing with minimal trauma.

Listening to the album reminds me of the mystery and sense of unease the world had while you were a young child. Exploring the neighborhood, exploring the woods, staying out past dusk. You really didn't know what you could've gotten yourself into or maybe even what people you could've crossed paths with.

Go listen again, specifically to the second half. Anyone who can't see unsettling and creepy it is clearly has not listened to it much.

I don't understand the spooks. Are you the same people who have existential crisis from looking at the stars or playing space engine, as opposed to being enveloped in awe? Or is a dissonance and ambiguity that uncomfortable an experience? pls explain

> calls scared people liberal
> conservatives literally terrified of everything

Yeah I just don't see what you're saying. I was expecting you to say You Could Feel the Sky, since that's the only track I can even see people interpreting as creepy, even though I don't really see it that way.

Shit like Throbbing Gristle is a little unnerving to me, but not Boards of Canada. Like I said I never even interpreted them like that.

Well said user. Totally agree.

If you dont find Devil In The Details, Julie and Candy and A is to B as B is to C or Beware the friendly Stranger creepy you may be a psycho

Julie and Candy? Are you fucking serious? That track is beautiful

its the story behind the song that gives it an eerie vibe

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candace_Newmaker

It's not handled in a heavy-handed way. It's not outright spooky like Excavation for example. Geogaddi creeps up on you with its devilish warmth and catches you off guard and all of the sudden you have your childhood memories flooding back in a twisted and sinister way.

This is the kind of shit that scares me:
youtube.com/watch?v=ViOmvnY2JTU&t=3s

Not boards of canada

have never listened to it or boards of canada

going in now

Now you're reaching.

but what if you're listing to Geogaddi and that thing pops up what do???

And the horror sample and the video. Terrifying.

sorry user i'm not.

Am I the only one who gets some far reaching existential vibes from the album? It kind of makes me think of the entirety of world history, some songs are set in the ancient past while others in the far future. The Beach at Redpoint gives me cyperpunk vibes.

I listen to it on acid once

Hard to describe, sound was surrounding me sometimes right behind my head, other times I felt like I was on a giant circus wheel

After a while I felt like I was regressing into my childhood and I started to experience everything negative I ever experienced in my life, all at once but 100 times more intense

After it was over I had to go to a friends house for like 3 days, everything was looping in my mind and I couldn't stop it

I gave it to a friend, never listened to it again

It fucks with your mind, I started freaking when the sample of the woman that says "what's in that stuff" it's buried deep underneath

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it disturbing

I'm planning to listen to the album for the first time on psychedelics alone in the woods. Good idea or no?

you're better off listening to The Campfire Headphase desu
