15

And 9 on part 2, so 24 total.

32

45

27

A lot of those seem really undeserving. Was this list made in the last couple decades?

Not a big fan of american cinema, so not that many. 30ish

AFI is fucking shit

41

ill never learn to into musicals tho

>ive only seen 6 of them
You really need to get your shit together, OP. I'm pretty pleb but I've seen a ton of those films. What I've seen:
>Citizen Kane

>The Wizard of Oz
>The Graduate
>On the Waterfront
>Schindler's List
>It's a Wonderful Life
>Sunset Boulevard
>The Bridge on the River Kwai
>Star Wars
>Psycho
>Chinatown
>One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
>2001: A Space Odyssey
>Raging Bull
>Dr. Strangelove
>Apocalypse Now
>The Godfather Part II
>A Clockwork Orange
>Taxi Driver
>Jaws
>The Third Man
>Tootsie
>Close Encounters of the Third Kind
>The Silence of the Lambs
>The French Connection
>Forrest Gump

>American Graffiti
>Rocky
>The Deer Hunter
>The Wild Bunch
>Platoon
>Fargo
>Easy Rider
>Patton
>Goodfellas
>Pulp Fiction
>The Searchers

...

The only one I haven't seen in the top 50 there is Doctor Zhivago. I guess I'll get to it this weekend, thanks OP.

Ten.

Honestly if you haven't seen every film on that list you don't belong on a film board talking about film.

39.
For letterboxd users:
letterboxd.com/redcatcher06/list/afi-100/

i cant stand alot of the classic movies

ive only seen psycho, star wars, ET, 2001, Jaws and fantasia.

I am not sitting through movies like lawrence of arabia, godfather. ive seen parts of those movies and got bored watching the trailers.

pulp fiction looks amazing and will download one day.

1998

i've seen 10, but i wouldn't really consider most of what i've seen that great. weird list

How come it lists
>Graduate, the
But not
>Waterfront, on the

I've seen 53

32. My biggest miss is probably Fargo.

13

Half of those I don't remember anything about because they were boring as fuck, like The Sound of Music

Most "classics" are really not all that good

How in the living fuck have you not seen Pulp Fiction?

I don't mean to be John Oliver here but Christ user it's the current year

I've seen over 50 of that list, and several of the ones I've seen are not good note notable films, particularly some of the light comedies from the 40s / 50s which don't hold up and relied on the star power of the time for any notoriety they ever had

So I guess as soon as we reached year 2000 movies went to shit.

The list was made in 1998.

Should we talk about Star Wars being #15 on this list

Ah I see. I wonder if any movies from the past 16 years would be able to make the list.

28
Midnight Cowboy was one of the worst movies I ever saw. So boring.

ive been into music and video games the majority of my life....i recently watched star wars like last September.

im 29 years old as well, figured that would be a neat fact to know.

Maybe. They came out with a new list ten years later which had Fellowship of the Ring on it.

Well I'm going to assume that you have highly refined taste in music and games if you're just now getting around to films

It's probably there only for influence and cultural impact.

What of it?

Only ten.

What the fuck is Snow White doing on that list? Are all the other movies really that bad?

3 I haven't seen on the first part. 15 on the second. Seen 82 overall then.

Lawrence of Arabia is fucking amazing. Watch it m8

AFI lists prioritizes cultural and historical impact, which is why you'll see something like Birth of a Nation which I don't think anyone would watch to have a good time.

57, step your game up OP.

I've seen all but five.

Jonathan Rosenbaum already BTFO's this garbage list back when it came out.

chicagoreader.com/chicago/list-o-mania/Content?oid=896619

Stop posting this trash.

45

28
shit list only kubricks are deserving

47

29.

30, but at least 3 of them I honestly don't remember the endings to. Don't know if should count those.

>rosenbaum

What are the not shit movies from these lists?

This thread has convinced me that Sup Forums can not and should not be saved. Holy Fuck. You are all grade A plebs.

you do realize Sup Forums is known to the outside world as the "asshole of the internet"?

if you are looking for taste you are always going to be let down.

70-80% of the list is garbage, films only revered out of some strange traditionalist mindset and not on their own merits

And how many have you actually seen, or do you just spout populist bullshit you read on the internet?

...

It will be quicker to list the ones I haven't seen

>On the Waterfront
>Treasure of the Sierra Madre
>The Birth of a Nation
>The Philadelphia Story
>Network
>City Lights
>Duck Soup
>The Searchers

46

22

>every single film on this list is in English.

>they can't claim that it's an "American-only" list because some of them are British, Canadian, or Australian

>mfw

It is an American list and they're all American films.

48/51

>3 David Lean films

"no"

You won't be disappointed by Some Like it Hot.

also The Third Man.

And this isn't even the most recent version of the list - which included the likes of Toy Story and Fellowship of the Ring, iirc

>american ''''''''cinema'''''''

The only ones I haven't seen are the musicals and The Maltese Falcon. I might as well watch Maltese Falcon tonight, but fuck musicals

Fuck these lists, they are anti-art and anti-individual.

38

Well I listen to nightcore/EDM and only play Dota 2, you can draw your conclusions from there.

I would say watch The Searchers first. It's a pretty spectacular movie.

13, but there's another dozen that I got just in the past 2 weeks that are on my punch list.

Haven't seen
>The African Queen
>Schindler's List
>All about Eve
>The Philadelphia Story

Seen all the rest of them

>The only ones I haven't seen are the musicals
I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to see Singin' in the Rain but it was hilarious.
