After GOTs

So HBO did Rome which was a big budget series and then fast forwarded to its end to do GOTs cause Rome it was not successful enough.

So judging by this action is seems clear HBO though it does many shows only has the resources (or the stomach) to produce 1 epic show (as far as cost) at a time.

With GOTs ending in the next 2 years what will be show be?

Most likely a spinoff.

As a side note I think they are going to want to stick to something in the historical realm with fighting and "Strong woman" cause the big issue with Rome is not enough woman watched it or liked the female characters.

Rise and fall show with Adolf Hitler.

Holocaust will not be canon.

Sopranos, the Wire, Oz, Boardwalk didn't have "strong female characters" and they were all successful.

I know there are other things in the works for it but The Dark Tower would be interesting

I think it could gain a big following.

Yeah, spinoff or most likely a prequel.

HBO isn't going to let this shit just die when there's still so much of the universe they could milk.

The DT is being made into a trilogy already...

Dunk & Egg most likely.

Yeah but they did not carry the same numbers GOTs did and did not represent the same investment financially.

Also this is less about how good a show is than what will be their big budget option. Though money was spent on those shows (particularly Boardwalk Empire) it is not the same.

I want a DC/Vertigo show with GoT's budget.

Not on this scale. They can only afford shows with GoT's budget if they appeal to everyone and that means stronk female characters for the women, gays and SJW crowds.

I would like to see the first blackfyre rebellion and then it leads into this

Well it certainly won't be West World. It's destined to fail thanks to this faggot.

isn't he just a producer?

Not to the level of GoT

Yeah and that's all it takes.

Anyone think Malazan Book of the Fallen could work?

I have heard about it but have not read it. Can it translate to TV?

Abrams produced mission impossible 4 and 5 and those were great.

He isn't a very good director but if it's just his company it could still be okay.

Literally impossible. A series that could translate over well could be first law. It's even quite similar to ASOIAF.

>wanting even more capeshit than we already have

Dance of Dragons - Plenty of drama and action here, lots of story to tell.

Blackfyre Rebellions - Again, more Targ shenanigans and plenty of good stories to tell.

Aegons Conquest - Aegon and his sweet sisters conquering shit and smacking the fuck out of arrogant Kings, good times.

Dunk and Egg - Not too many established stories here, lots of room for creativity and originality.

These are the most prominent historical events I can think of right now that'd make decent stories. Of course, HBO being HBO, would probably fuck the story with some stupid message.

They're doing Westworld aren't they? I'd say that.

They need to do a realistic post apocalyptic show, like 28 hours or some movie that actually is good vs this AMC garbage

I never said I wanted capeshit.

He also produced Fringe, Felicity, 10 Cloverfield Lane (let's ignore the last 15 minutes) and Regarding Henry. He's done decently.

why though

i feel like Hollywood makes post apocalyptic shit nonstop and it usually is all the same more or less

All of the things he produced, TV series wise, failed though.

But it's created and directed by Jonathan Nolan

I think it will be fine

I see it more as a movie trilogy than TV series.

Would rather see a new historical show from HBO.

wops sorry, not all, I mean many, lately.
>Revolution, Almost Human, Believe, Alcatraz
But well, Fringe is my favourite TV show but I might be biased because I am just counting the failures. I just dont like when movies and shows add someone famous as producer to ride on his coat tail.
Transformers movies are produced by Spielberg rejoyce everyone!
>Person of Interest
The wound is too fresh user, damn you CBS. Well I guess, he is the right person for the job then, even if I cant possibly imagine making a TV series out of it, maybe a mini series? The robot uprising would be a series finale I guess.

The Man in the High Castle

LOL WUT

I forgot about that, how is it doing?

Rumor has it they're working on a Watchmen series.

HBO hasn't done any scifi that I recall. That's a fairly underused genre right now that they could have some success in.

Wheel of Time and that Westerland show ( or whatever the fuck its called)

>WoT on HBO

Jordan fags actually believe this?

Fuck yes!
Who should play Ninefingers and Glokta?

>Click, tap, pain

Obviously this guy.

"I was once called Little Finger, but I got a promotion and now I am Ninefingers."

Would've been a perfect opportunity to do The Dark Tower.

Oh god...please no, not SF, why don't they stick to stuff like Drizzt or Vorkisigan, something light, I just know that if they go the SF road they'll try to do something heavy and/or cult and they'll fuck it up because people who watch the kardashians will need to like it.

Pretty sure it's just a mini-series.

Westworld is a sci-fi series you fucking dumbass it's already happening.

The correct answer is Dune. It's time to finally do the IP justice.

Oh, didn't know that, this fits cause there's lot of potential for soapy stuff, that can sell easily.

Too bad those are pretty much the only good characters in the book. Awesome characters, though

Writers and directors, general people behind Rome to make a season on Aegon's Conquest.

James Purefoy as Aegon

Yes, but it'll never happen.

And why do you think that today someone would do it justice? Because of the effects we have today?
We got a good Dune done by Lynch, everything important from the story was well presented.

Book of the New Sun, please.

New world

Alternate/False Earth

Early colonialism, equivalent to 1700's era European culture and technology

Fucking witchcraft and native magic separated by giant, grand-scale firing lines of well-dressed conscripts.

Impossible

FRANK HERBERT'S DUNE

>We got a good Dune done by Lynch, everything important from the story was well presented.
Lynch only made the first book. I want to see the other 5 books on screen even though yes we got the first 3 done in a mini series: but I want to see God Emperor of Dune on screen.

You are a massive pleb if you think the first Dune book is the only worthwhile novel

The Belgariad made into a TV series.

Considering Game of Thrones ripped off so much from Dune (the many house parties, the Starks being the Atreides family who get slaughtered by the Harkonnen aka the Lannisters and then a hero must rise which is Paul Atreides aka Jon Snow) thus lots of Game of Thrones fans should find it easy to enjoy the show.

Only if D&D weren't the show runners. I'm sure HBO could hire somebody that would actually care and commit to making a quality product instead of two rubes who just wanted to get to the cool part then stop giving a shit once they passed it.

NOT wheel of cucks.

Hopefully the Magicuckians will pick up the pace next season.

>the many house parties
Dune didn't invent the feudal system dumbass. GRRM and Herbert both got that idea from history.

The Witcher adaptation. Easy way to keep the GOT audience.

I never said Herbert invented it I just said both books have identical traits

That shit isn't original to Dune, they may have similar traits but that's because several folklore, stories and mythology follow the same archs.

There's plenty of old stories from the chinese, japanese, european and nordic legends that all have similar devices.

Literally didn't read the post

Standalones are so good SO FUCKING GOOD

I want this.

But it's getting adapted into a movie.

Jonathan Nolan's on it too though

and he gave us Person of Interest, and wrote the short story that Memento is based on

and probably more shit.

I have a little hope (mostly from the acting talent)

I got lured in by the actors and the premise (haven't read/watched the source material), but the delay and supposed overhaul have me worried.

Ray Stevenson - Ninefingers
Christopher Walken - Glokta
Eugene Simon - Jezal
Morgan Freeman - Bayaz

who should play Black Dow and West tho?

Pay no attention to this little faggot.

I was shoot down several times over the last years because editors were saying "GRRM already did it. JK already did it. Its good but its risky"

Basically, set every manuscript you've wrote over the last two decades on fire because wizards, magic schools, dragons or houses went mainstream on HP or ASOIF.

As far as they're concerned, GRRM created feudalism and JK created wizards and magic.

Maybe Brendan Gleeson and Rory Kinnear?

I'd like Ian McShane in there somewhere too

Ian McShane as Black Dow?
He really can play an evil backstabbing motherfucker.

>blackfaggot rebellion
>not based bobby and ned taking it to the targs

Until a director and cast is officially announced the movie can always be cancelled.

There's a long way to go from some guy's dream to make the movie to actually getting it made.

HBO has plenty of time to step in, get the rights and do their own adaptation of the Witcher.
