This but Post by Bjork too.
Might stretch it to F#A#infinity
Ooooh this album is a gut punch. I love it.
I especially like how the lyrics become a part of the instrumentation.
F# is also a good pick.
...
I was comfy in bed with my laptop on my lap at like 10:00 at night, I kinda zoned out until I heard volcano and realized I'll probably never experience music for the first time the same way again
...
None, I almost always appreciate music more on the 2nd or 3rd listen.
>You will never hear The Sound for the first time ever again
I never got the appeal of DG desu
You saying you never had that album that completely knocked you on your ass the first time?
I really wish I could just hear black metal for the first time again.
Fantastic start to the thread. I really wish I could listen to these for the first time. Although I haven't listened to LYSF since new years eve 2015, so I'm saving it for a special moment sometime soon.
I can't explain why they appeal to me, DG is music that, if summarized to me, I would never actually listen to. But I checked out exmilitary and I loved it but couldn't explain why. I don't know it's weird.
...
I'm listening to LYSF as we speak. But I agree, it's better saved for a special occasion. What kind of weather do you think best fits LYSF?
I always gave gray skies to F#A# Infinity. There's gotta be some kind of weather that demands you listen to LYSF
I think I know how you feel. I don't like much Post-Hardcore, but REALLY like La Dispute - Wildlife.
fucking spiderland
Usually if it does I like it even more on subsequent listens.
>Blum blum blum, da nah nah nuh nuh nuh
It takes sometimes YEARS for albums to click for me, so I kinda know how you feel, but to never have something that floors you on first listen? I don't know that feel, user.
Came to post this.
>What kind of weather do you think best fits LYSF
Hmm, I don't know. I've always listened to it at night, but most music sounds better at night. I'm sure snow would make it a comfier experience.
Good point. See, for bands like Set Fire to Flames, I always pick a blistering hot day, a still day (no wind or little commotion outside) and sit in the loneliest room of my house and watch the dust fall.
But that's not GY!BE. I think some of the noise and samples of LYSF are best suited towards night time.
It's not that they don't floor me, it's just that I wouldn't trade subsequent listens for a fresh one. I'm the type to constantly revisit albums that amaze me. One of my favorite albums is probably The Great Annihilator and that shit made my jaw drop the first time but I appreciate it more now that I've gained further familiarity with it.
Love TGA, and I only recently heard it. I see where you're coming from. Like I said, it's taken me YEARS to get some albums.
also Frances the mute
I think I've listened to this album like one time. Thought it was alright. What am I missing?
I just realized how carry the drums are on this album
Homogenic? Unusually abrasive electronic textures for a late 90s pop album accompanied with string arrangements and an aggressive narrative about a woman on the prowl. Honestly, it's pretty comparable to some of Radiohead's later stuff, especially In Rainbows.
Thanks for filling me in. I love albums with running narratives or stories or things like that. I do remember it having beautiful string arrangements, but maybe I was underplaying the electronics section
I can't listen to this or any of the other BoC albums anymore because of overplaying them to hell.
currently taking break from BoC because 25% of scrobbles are them, don't want to spoil them for life.
If you love running narratives then it doubles as the first act of a loose trilogy with Vespertine and Vulnicura, the former seeing Homogenic's protagonist finding and embracing love and the latter seeing the steady disintegration and loss of that love, and it closely mirrors what Bjork was going through at those times in her life. It's not an established trilogy or anything but they do sort of end up panning out that way.
honestly don't think this has ever happened. most of my favorite albums i felt indifferent towards on the first listen. feels bad man
i would pay money to have volcano removed from SFTB
Smart move. I can't listen to Music Has, Geogaddi, or In A Beautiful Place without immediately having to turn them off. It really sucks.
I played the SHIT out of MHTRTC and got numb to it.
Then I discovered Geogaddi. What's the big deal with everyone on Sup Forums saying it creeped them out?
it's a meme, you dip.
Will listen. Thanks user!
I listened to this album so much that today it only gives me like a fraction of the feels it gave me when i was 16-18
>i will never listen to yo la tengo for the first time again
what's the point in living?
It's a meem
I actually really like that track. I like how it distorts and corrupts that generic club beat, and the narrative is as twisted and cynical as anything else mid 90s Swans served up.
It was partially the soundtrack to pic related. The only scary parts of the movie had songs from that album in it
>It was partially the soundtrack to pic related. The only scary parts of the movie had songs from that album in it
>You will never make a surrealist horror movie themed to BoC
Salad Fingers: The Movie?
were you wearing headphones?
Specifically, the feeling of not knowing what exactly I was hearing, whether it was a whole band or just one guy, or what kind of instrument any given sound was. The more mystery surrounds this album, the better it is.
...
I honestly don't remember, I think so, it was around the time I got some AKGs
mainly pic related...
....but also,,,,
+++stooges (1969) & SLF - Inflammable Material +++
Honestly, this album is overrated imo.
...
But it's still cool as fuck and sounds very unique
2 years ago today the shitposts began trying to downplay it
I have never seen this album here, wow
black """"people"""""
I regret not making my first listen of this on a late night drive.
Finding an album that does it for you all over again
Oh fuck, you're so right. So many albums are enhanced by night time drives. Best atmosphere for an album
this above anything I've ever listened to
None of them. That's stupid.
You're right, I wish I could feel that exact same feeling of disgust and "lmao wtf is this bullshit" again and again
It never sounded as empty and ghost like as it did the first time. This on top of hardly knowing anything about joy division other than the origin of the name made it feel that much darker and mysterious as well.
Hands down this. Amazing album, but something are so perfect on a first listen.
simply ebin
i was late night driving and i swear every fucking song gave me goosebumps
Most of the stuff mentioned so far I would give great funds to hear for the first time again.
Also everything AnCo has made (well... maybe not PW)
I'd probably give my life to hear this album for the first time again tbqh
98.12.28 too
This is the album I would've picked too. Very little replay value for me.
You can't listen to it a lot, but sparingly (and in the right conditions) it actually packs almost the same punch
This shit is garbage
Gimme
this
I spin it about once every two months while I'm writing an essay or something and it's surreal
...
that's because you're new.

>Candy says I hate the quiet places
That cause the smallest taste of what will be
Candy says I hate the big decisions
That cause endless revisions in my mind
and the bass hhhhnnnngggg
Examples?
Just the dynamics of each track, man. Distant Past was a trip the first time.
>I'M HERE TO PAY MY SPEEDING TICKET AND GET THE FUCK TO WORK
I wish I could feel that feel that I first had when listening to this again.
good choice, underrated
...
>candy claws-ceres and calypso in the deep time

>ywn Tired of Sex for the first time ever again and be blown away
This too. Also Post and Vespertine.
why'd he go to court then, i don't understand why he didn't just pay it before the summons
>candy claws-ceres and calypso in the deep time
Boring Dream Pop
>the avalanches-SILY
this is Sup Forumscore
>AC-STGSTV, CS, ST, SJ
this is Sup Forumscore
y'all know that mucore is what is discussed here most often, not what mu likes most right?
I think you may have just been cold
these. so much these
this so much
Is ITAOTS no longer Sup Forums core or something?
When I first listened to this my only extensive music experience was with Radiohead, so this turned my idea of music on its head. I still remember the "oh shit" feeling as I heard Weakling revving up after being beaten down for ~30 mins. Most of the time the album gets better on subsequent listens, but Filth was different.
ITAOTS is discussed all the time, nigger.
what point are you even trying to communicate?
I like listening to LYSF at sunrise. That's how I make it a better experience anyways
...
I want to go back Sup Forums
We all do man, we all do
I'm 99% sure he made up that story.
I can't imagine someone screaming at a judge in court and just walk away.
I'm afraid this is happening to me, BoC is my favorite, will a break help?
>spongebob-core
I heard it for the first time, really after growing up. It felt like I was fondly remembering things that never actually happened. Really great music
