Yes and it's throughout. The worst is when they make Guts and other characters CGI. It looks so weird and unnatural. It would be good animation without the stupid 3d effect.

It could probably be a decent show if they stuck to 2d animation and dropped the awful, annoying fairy character. Never read any of the manga but apparently the character was in those. I don't care about taking out something unnecessary and obnoxious. The original series is far and beyond better than this garbage.

With a GoT type of budget could they do a live action Berserk? There isn't as many characters as in GoT or locations to shoot in so they could probably spend more on the effects, but they would probably still eliminate arcs like the Children one and probably most of the Black Swordsman to rush to the Golden Age arc and the arc where Griffith comes back.

It's more like Macbeth mixed with old creepy European tales, the "global politics" shtick of GoT isn't really there so much and it's a much more personal story

people give the original anime a lot of shit, but it had wonderful atmosphere and character development and played well to its strengths

this is especially clear when looking at the new one

they did the films with the cgi bullshit, but the thing is they used it only for battle scenes. as they got a better budget, and the films got longer, they went back to using hand-drawn animation.

considering the track record of the studio who is doing the new series, its an awkward as fuck transition due to their past IPs being magical girl bs. i feel like they are being lazy just to cash in on an IP that will be relevant once Miura lets them get off the boat.

One of the drawing (heh) points of Berserk is the art; only hand drawn animation would do it justice, but there isnt any studio who could pull it off unless we went back in time and blew 2 billion nippon dollars remaking the golden age arc with otomo level animation. 60 fps, hand painted backgrounds, soundtrack by infant susumu hirasawa.

Scaling Guts' sword down ruins it. Hes supposed to have a gigantic, impossible sword and it only works in 2D where your brain can ignore simple physics.

A plastic sword would immediately look weightless and fake. Its not just about the swords weight, its Guts himself. In real life, even if you had the strength to swing that thing its so heavy it'd take him with it.

Live action brings so many problems to the forefront and very few benefits. I don't know why so many clamor for this.

Well reasonably it would probably go like this.

>Season 2: Finish Golden Age and go to Eclipse (which would be so tough to do) and end on Guts becoming the Black Sowrdsman.
>Season 3: Show a little bit of the Black Sowrdsman arc but mainly rush to the Conviction Arc to get Griffith coming back and introduce the other recurring characters sooner.
>Season 4 & 5: Falcon of the Millenium and the war with Kushans. and Guts getting on the boat to restore Caska. These arcs would probably be chopped up a lot.

its because its cheaper to model a 3d model, skin it, rig it, and then import it than it is to slave over hand animating frame for frame, cell for cell

The Golden Age arc would translate well into a live action show probably. Since it is so straight forward and is mainly just a medieval story with not a lot of fantasy elements. It's pretty much the Griffith just getting into battles to try and get closer to the throne. It's everything after that when it goes full fantasy where it wouldn't work well.

No, I'm not. Both GoT and Berserk were inspired by that historical event. That's probably the only thing I can see that's comparable. The only diff being is that GoT took the political approach and Berserk took the more personal one.
