Listen to more metal and electronic music. That's where the fresh releases have been happening for the past seven years along with hip hop (though hip hop has been a bit weak so far in big name releases though that'll be fixed soon; there are great smaller name releases in the mean time.)

Are you talking about the new Mt Eerie? I bet it will be his best album in over a decade, but will be over celebrated just due to circumstance regardless which might turn some people off.

What makes you not like the new Basinski? I like it but I'm huge into drone and ambient music. Only thing I really don't like about it is that he reused stuff from Melancholia

This thread makes me wonder how much music you people have heard. I've already heard a couple albums I'll probably keep in regular rotation for years to come.

also, I remember that D'Angelo album had like waaay less press than it should have because everyone had already made their "best of 2014" when that album came out in mid-December. Shame too cuz I really liked it, and it ended up #2 behind To Be Kind on RYM's top of 2014 list.

I actually do like a lot of ambient music SAW II is one of my favorite albums ever.

I didn't HATE it, and maybe it's my disdain for Basinski anyways. He's definitely improved as an artist since the Disintegration Loops so maybe I should try it again soon.
