Calling all computer nerds scrolling through Sup Forums!
I bought this 1200$ PC cause it was 400$ off so I got it for 800$, it works fine and everything but I feel as if it can be so much better, I run overwatch on high with 70 fps, and epic at 40 fps, I didn't pay 800 fucking dollars to play overwatch on epic at 40 fps, you could run it at a stable 60fps on a playstation pro, so I wanted to upgrade, I don't know what to upgrade and what to buy cause I don't know jack shit about PC's, hence the reason I bought a prebuilt one, so I wanted to ask some of the smart people in Sup Forums, here's all the parts for my PC, let me know what I should get and where to get it, thanks Sup Forums!
Get a new video card, and upgrade to 16 gigs of ram. If you have the money, get a good Nvidia graphics card
Anthony Thomas
Problem one You bought a pc /thread
Carter Cox
cyberpowerpc
Jace Bennett
link to one??
Adrian Lewis
Get a Gtx 1070 will last you for quite a while, sets you back for around $400-450
David Brown
First of all, don't upgrade the RAM, 8 gb is more than enough for what you want. I'd advise you to buy a decent GPU, that R7 360 is just decent at best. That CPU will bottleneck you if you want to play more demanding games, though. IMO, go for a new GPU, faggot.
Also, how much are you willing to spend?
Christopher Hill
max I'll spend is 400$, don't wanna spend more then half of the actual fuckin pc
Jacob Wood
take those stickers off and it'll run like a babe sucking shit down a river out of gods asshole
Brandon Ramirez
My advice is stop playing Overwatch but fuck what do I know, enjoy your waifu TF2.
What's resulting in the non-peak performance is almost definitely your graphics card- 95% of the time that's the bottleneck of a system when it comes to gaming.
The price they give there is much higher than actual, you can probably find it for around $350-400. It should perform about twice as well as your current one, though it is marked with 25 more wattage than yours, so make sure it falls within your power supply cap.
Cheers, merry christmas.
Alexander Cook
you bought an overpriced piece of shit
Joshua Wright
Alright OP here, question... with my fan do you think I could overclock it to its max without burning my CPU/motherboard?
Thomas White
A 960 no-one's going to actually pay $350 for one, you can go on craigslist and get a 970 for $200
Gabriel Robinson
Upgrade your GPU.
Jose Ortiz
You bought an expensive POS is what you did. Prebuilts are cancer. Unfortunately cause I have that CPU I can tell you for sure that it will limit you in a lot of games despite people telling you it won't. It's a shit CPU, however your GPU is shit as well. So upgrade GPU first then CPU. CPU needs new motherboard though. Basically you fucked up.
Kayden Clark
Don't overclock your damn CPU. It's not the cause of your problems.
You'll gain 0% performance boost and reduce your system's lifespan by 50%.
Carter Edwards
You need a decent cpu cooler to be able to overclock the cpu
Jose Adams
Buying used PC parts is one thing I don't like doing, specially GPUs/CPUs
Jacob Reyes
Lol, if overclocking doesn't have any benefits why would people do it?
Carter Butler
Sorry, my price estimates come from canada. All PC parts are more expensive here.
Carter Jackson
Buy yourself a GTX 970, you'll thank yourself
>AMD 8core 8350, runs nice but hot
>Nvidia gtx 970, not a 1080 but doesn't need to be
>8gb ram, honestly ram never really slowed my computer down
>600w PSU, honestly just grabbed the first one I saw. Don't really know much about them
>Case is some cheap shit I bought online, really nice ventilation, good air flow
>H100i cooler cause someone here said I should get it
Honestly you're only short a good graphic card. 200 can get you a 970 if you look around
Anthony Wilson
lol Don't try to OC your CPU, specially an AMD.
Ryan Nguyen
If you want to improve PC performance in general, buy a very cheap SSD, meaning less than 100 Gigs, and use it as a cache.
Essentially load your OS to the SSD, and have mostly everything else on a secondary HDD.
You could upgrade your RAM to 12, or even 16, but 8 is usually enough for most games.
Your graphics card might need an upgrade too. AMD is alright, but that one seems to be inferior to some GTX models as some user pointed out.
If you had to choose two, just for gaming, I guess upgrade your ram and graphics card; although I do recommend you use an SSD as main memory. It speeds up overall PC performance.
Juan Taylor
Exactly this OP. And if you can grab yourself a Corsair H100i, i definitely recommend it for cooler your CPU.
Noah Ortiz
if you're using windows 10, disable DVR in the xbox app on windows 10. you'll have to create an acct/sign into your microsoft acct, then go to options and look for Game DVR or some shit. Just disable it and you're good to go. I tore my PC apart trying to figure out why I was having framerate issues in many games.
Nicholas Foster
Cpu is the part which has the longer lifespan
Tyler Morris
Are you the h100 guy?
Sebastian Parker
it's still a used cpu
Isaac Edwards
nigga do you not respond to posts
Overclocking helps in cases when you're trying to process excess information fast. It speeds up how quickly your cpu runs, pushing it beyond its intended operating speed.
While you're gaming, your cpu probably won't ever reach 100% usage, even if it isn't overclocked. Games put more stress on your graphics card than anything else.
Overclocking is better used for boring shit like rendering a 3d image really fast.
Also what this guy said, AMD cores heat up more.
Matthew Brown
You're correct, its gonna speed up is leading time but it won't increase his game's performance FPS wise. He's in a tight CAD budget so upgrading his GPU is the way to go. As someone said already, find yourself a 970 or if not an r9 290
Jaxon Cooper
You make a robot you faggot. Quite being a bitch and diagnose your own damn problems you cunt
Gavin Rivera
No, I've never told anyone here to get an h100 lol but I do recommend it
my computer is about same as yours but if anything your GPU is a bottlenck
my specs are
CPU: AMD FX=9370 (8C @ 3.8Ghz) GPU: 4Gb GDDR5 AMD R7 370 PSU: 650W Mobo: Gigabyte 970A (same as yours) RAM: 14Gb DDR3 HDD: 444Gb (not a huge gamer and still have 180Gb free)
>inb4 shitty storage
I previously had an FX-4350 4C @ 4.2Ghz and seen no FPS boost so my GPU is a bottleneck and my computer is worth (what I spent total on all parts in it)
$431 (I got the mobo for $6 on amazon and I think one PCIx16 doesn't work but I'm to lazy to gut it out) and get most of your shit on ebay i got my 9370 for $108 instead of like $150-$190
Hudson Bell
Yes, but all you need is the fucking graphics card. Just get that and stick it in there and play your weeb games, spend the rest of the money on alcohol and weed.
Xavier Lee
Intel i7 4790k, gtx 1070 strix of edition, 16gb ddr3
Jacob Wilson
Clean your fucking room you filthy animal.
Brayden Howard
5/7
Jacob Carter
we have the same fuckin mouse m8
Dylan King
on all serious levels i have a 970 laying around my room im willing to sell lmk if youre interested i played overwatch on beta and i got stable 70+fps on epic with it
They're completely made up but I'd rather misinform the faggot than suggest he overclock while he doesn't know what he's doing.
What makes you think the cpu is the bottleneck?
Jonathan Fisher
No one cares
Gabriel Thomas
Holy shit, how do people live like this? With all the time you have to play games, at least utilize some of that time to have a decent looking room.
Grayson James
Man, I need a better computer >AMD
Gabriel Harris
See this
Oliver Brooks
it's usually dark in my room so i never notice, using the flash it seems worse.. :|
Ayden Mitchell
also for all PC builders you don't need over 60fps most monitors are 60Hz (meaning they turn on/off 60 times a second) with that said 300fps = 60fps
Dylan Jenkins
Its AMD and AMD processors arent enthusiast market cpus like intel are and lock most of their poorly built cores that arent hyperthreaded and can barely handle a few hard tasks even though they have 4 or 6 or 8 cores
Carson Gutierrez
But the smell? Surely you must notice some way or another, or do you just spray fabreeze all the time.
Jackson Johnson
Are those Intel i7 processors better than an AMD processor?
I have an FX-8350 8 core @4.0ghz. I was just wondering how the i7's compare to it. They seem bloated on price for me
David Wilson
i have an i7 4790k and i basically never utilize 100% of it so i guess its nice
Xavier Watson
Pretty sure the human eye sees about 60 frames per second, so yeah this.
Sure, but he's not looking to multitask or anything. Just play video games (and one at a time). I'm pretty confident that the GPU is the problem.
Landon Young
Prices are always high and never seem to drop over time, it's frustrating. But yes it's better than amd, however amd is cheaper.
Hudson Green
I've seen benchmarks done on youtube showing Core i5 vs i7 and core i5 beat the i7 in some areas otherwise i7 won by like 5-10fps
I go AMD because it's cheap and the motherboards for it are cheaper and have that red/black look
Jonathan Barnes
As a simplistic and general rule, Intel and Nvidia > AMD
Makes sense if you think about it. Intel focuses their attention on CPUs, Nvidia does GPUs. AMD tries to do both.
Brandon Nelson
i have a can of axe ready all the time. the smell is hardly there when your in here 24/7
Easton Scott
no it's not the human eye part the human eye can see more fps but people brag about getting 100-300fps on games while im here getting 50 fps in WT and they don't realize they're seeing a 10fps difference
Kevin Wood
Fuck off with that nvidia Shit.
Landon Gonzalez
Like the issue for me is that I've never had to go full throttle either. I guess the processor ain't too much of an issue. It's nice don't get me wrong, I'm just curious if the higher price tags made that big a difference, with clock speeds so close
Colton Taylor
I just googled it and yeah, human eye can supposedly recognize a difference up to about 150 fps Anyway you're still right, the monitor becomes the bottleneck.
Joshua Hernandez
Most of the time when you buy pre assembled PC you get scammed badly.
Next time ask before buying a PC, listen to the advices, buy the single components and assemble it, or ask the shop to assemble it.
With $800-1000-1200 (what you saved, you can now possibily pay to upgrade RAM & shit) you could've assembled a way better PC.
Kayden King
I just laugh when people spend a shitload on GPU's but in reality all ya need is 60fps
Colton Rivera
>conputer
Sebastian Brooks
Holy fuck they actually sold this for $800?
Hahahahahahahahahaha suckers they come, a dime a dozen.
Daniel Harris
Yeah, what the fuck is with the dual 1090 Ti stuff? Is it even possible to use that system at 100% with today's games?
It's like buying a Formula 1 and using it to go to work every day.
Wyatt Cook
>I spend 800 on a pc >what do
Cameron Perry
>AMD
I mean, it's good if you wanna overclock it for the sole purpose of keeping warm at night or cooking a mean hotpocket.
get NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or 980
Parker Perry
...
Landon Adams
I've seen people with dual 1080's, core i7, 16Gb DDR4 and bunch of other shit but the tech companies know people will buy their shit when you don't need to
you'll never need two GPU's ever unless your refresh rate is 200Hz...
Easton Collins
First problem: get that shit off the floor
Henry Hughes
Go Intel, upgrade gpu, get 16gb ram. And don't buy a retail pc again you fuck, hope you learned your lesson.
Elijah Baker
News from Amd Conference shows they are coming out with a cpu that whill own all Intel.
Jacob Martinez
>AMD GPU & CPU
Levi Ross
>Upgrade your ram to atleast 8 gigs ($45) look into getting DDR4 instead of DDR3, if your mobo supports it
>upgrade CPU to a i5 6600k it's cheaper and you can upgrade later down the road, or shoot for an i7 if you have the money.
>work on getting a SSD for your windows files and important PC data
>what model and manufacturer is your psu?
>definitely get a new graphics driver. An 980 Ti by invida should shoot well.
Your biggest issue is your CPU and GPU. You won't be able to play games at max because your system is bottlenecked by them.
Jayden Walker
8gb is not feasible anymore 16 is enough for a while now
Brandon Gomez
r7 360 is trash get rid of it and get shit like a gtx 1060 itll be enough for a while
Jace Moore
you just to get 60fps only
Jack Powell
Link some good budget gaming pc that can run arma 3 fairly good
Dylan Foster
>buy shit premade pc >put stickers on it >why does my 8 gigs of ram suck
Leo Kelly
this
Colton Robinson
Parts are from Amazon
CPU: AMD FX-6300 (6C @ 3.5Ghz) $90 Motherboard: Gigabyte AM3+ 970A $67 GPU: AMD R9 380X 4Gb (gigabyte) $180 PSU: 650W $40 Water cool heatsink: $60 HDD: 1Tb $50 Case: $40-$60 pic related its my current build case is $44 on amazon right now Case Fans (optional): $10-$15/piece
Total (minus fans): $527-$547 if you shop on ebay to could probably knock it down to $400 range easy
Kayden Nguyen
Everything listed is for higher performance than that gpu can offer
Cameron Wright
oh and a monitor will vary a 24" goes for $100 and also all prices are amazon price discounted
Jaxon Reyes
nice build, was thinking of going 4790k but I think Im just gonna get the i5 6600k and DDR4 it, probably gonna go with a 1060 though because budget
