anything outside of the main movies has always been meaningless, regardless of quality

Here is everything that is currently canon in case you were wondering

Its sheevtastic

>C3PO: The Phantom Limb

I still miss Old Republic canon.

hmm…

>differentiating adult and teen from kids
They are all kids books.

If they are marketed differently, why wouldnt they be catagorized differently?

Thats actually great.

It's really, really bad. They've hired a lot of young adult romance female authors to increase diversity, they have no real background in SW or sci-fi and write stories about lesbian girls at the Imperial academy and other SJW shit. The non-YA/SJW stuff is horribly simplified compared to what it could be. The quasi-space operas of the old EU are a thing of the past.

The NuEU, like Episode 7, makes the galaxy feel like a much smaller place in general which I don't like.

It's a terrible story.

>C3P0 and some droids are escorting an assassin droid with important info
>dangerous planet kills them all except assassin droid and threepio
>assassin droid sacrifices himself for threepio after conversations about friendship
>threepio replaces his broken arm with the other droid's

It also makes no sense when in TFA he acts like it's an eyesore he needs to get rid of.

The Star Wars universe is legitimately awful. There's nothing good coming out of it. How anyone can watch something like Darth Maul coming back to life and not immediately tune out is beyond me. It's not good sci-fi, it's not good fantasy, it's not good action, it's simple not good.

>adult books
good joke

None of this is even remotely true. The one Young Adult author they hired, true was new to Star Wars, but has also wrote what is now considered one of the best books in the entire franchise.

The only other problem with the new canon author wise is a leach on the books known as Chuck Wendig. A nu-male who got the job by having his fans beg on twitter. He is the sole reason for all the "sjw" shit. The book he wrote has a total of 5 gay characters, and he confirmed that its sequel is going to explore "how the Empire feels about homosexuality". All this on top of him directly insulting Star Wars fans calling them names and saying that the people leaving negative reviews of his book (its a really really really bad book btw) homophobes.

Other than that everything is pretty average.

Its far better than Legends.

>mfw Grand Admiral Trawn is noncanon

Shit even worse than the original EU

Disney can't into legacies

Give it time. He and Reven have been hinted at to hell and back.

I like it considerably more than the old stuff.

Everything feels genuinely connected, while Legends every book and comic felt like a standalone universe.

If this is true then that makes me feel genuinely happy.

An unknown character that looks suspiciously like reven appeared in the Obi Wan comic when they looked into the past. Also a sith holocron appeared in Rebels with an unknown female voice. This is interesting because someone from StoryGroup on Twitter said that if it was up to them reven would definately be a woman.

There is an unknown imperial in the book Aftermath that was listening to classical music people are speculating to be Thrawn. There are also countless rumors that he is going to be the antagonist of Rebels season 3

It would take a lot, not to mention a very long time, for the new canon to get anywhere near the retardation that was the EU canon. It was started by the brilliant Thrawn trilogy that has never been topped, and while there's some decent to pretty good stuff around, most of it is fucking dog shit.

>Story with werewolves and centaurs
>Sun Crusher - a weaponized Mary Sue
>A Jedi Hutt
>Deus Ex Fett
>...and so much more

>Jedi Hutt

I kinda like that. The execution was awful, but in concept a force sensitive Hutt could be pretty interesting
>His uses the force to move his lightsaber since he has next to no dexterity

Jewkino.

To be fair, that's because it's being commissioned by Disney.

The vast majority of stuff in the old EU stuff was shittty-fanfiction tier, there was very little oversight.

It's filled with a lot of mediocrity and only a few good things. I mean, at least it's not throwing out anything I'd consider to be absolute shit, which Legends had a lot of, but it still leaves a lot to be desired and chances need to be made if we're going to get anything close to some of the gems Legends had.

Sad, but true

it's fucked beyond repair at this point

The new Canon is? They barely touched it. How bad could it possibly be already?

Tfw it's true

I actually bought this fucking book when it came out because I was hyped as fuck. One of the worst decision I ever made.

It's not zany enough? Where are Chewbacca's relatives? Where's Luke's evil clone, 'Luuke', or Luke's evil clone 'Luuuke'? Where's Land's flying robot starfish sidekick?!

>What do you think of the current Star Wars Extended Canon?

They are raping the lore like no tomorrow. All the good shit from EU is now being replaced by dumb shit like the Galatic Civil War now ending a year after Endor. Boba is still dead.

Thrawn is still non-canon. Retconning the shit out of everything. I feel bad for Lucas knowing Star Wars will no forever be raped by Disney forever.

>How bad could it possibly be already?
See

Boba being dead is a good thing for me, but you are right otherwise.

>The Real Sequel Trilogy

>there will never be an X-Wing movie series based on the books

How tf is that beyond repair?

Is there any way we could ever get a movie series out of this? Or is all hope lost? Would Disney agree to make a Legacy movie series?

Maybe someone will make a version with those creepy CGI wooden puppets everyone seems to love.

>How tf is that beyond repair?

The concept that 30 years after endor and the empire is back and stronger than ever, and just blows up the republic with an even bigger death star weapon is some of the laziest shit writing I've ever seen. Everything from that movie is just copied from the original films.

Name one thing new in The Force Awakens?

I can't remember, but doesn't it pretty heavily rely on Coruscant still being around and Leia leading the New Republic?

What is this "best in the franchise" book you're referencing?

>Maybe someone will make a version with those creepy CGI wooden puppets everyone seems to love.

What about do an anime of it? Not that crazy thing to do.

Direct adaptation? Never. The chances of that happening are 0 at this point.

Very loose adaptation? I wouldnt be surprised at all. If they did it the same way Rogue One is a loose adaptation of Dark Forces, it could end up really really good.

sweaty black men

This is chronologically what the real sequel trilogy would be.

Coruscant, specifically the Emperor's old palace is important to the plot of those books. And Leia doesn't lead the New Republic, but she's part of the council that runs things.

As flawed as it was before, it was decades of stories flushed down the toilet. Now we get bland TFA and retcons. Disney can buy Star Wars but that doesn't make it Star Wars. Star Wars was risky, fun, different. Disney is none of those things. Fuck 'em.

I would kill for a 2d animated series. Not a direct adaptation, but a loose retelling of its major events to fit it into the new Canon. Luke needs his own TV show after how great Anakin's was

>I can't remember, but doesn't it pretty heavily rely on Coruscant still being around and Leia leading the New Republic?

Basically right Sheev died, all those Grand moffs of the empire who controlled various parts of the empire turned into warlords fighting each other. Just like the warlords after the death of Alexander the great.

Rebels kick the empire's ass and push them back, take Coruscant, empire sues for peace. Later Thrawn shows up and starts wrecking the shit out of the Republic with the help of a cloned jedi by his side.

It's way above the heads of your average pleb audience watcher.

>. If they did it the same way Rogue One is a loose adaptation of Dark Forces,

Source?

No actual source, but it's pretty obvious just based on what we know of the movie
>Rebels on a mission to steal the death star plans
>Jan Ors =Jyn Erso
>New Deathtroopers are obviously supposed to be nods to Dark Troopers (pure speculation but I am confident a major twist will be the Deathtroopers actually being droids)

Based on what criteria? There's a 10 year gap between Episode 1 and 2, and an 18 year gap between 3 and 4. There's no set "rules" as to when they should occur.

>If it's the Prime Timeline or the JJ-Verse, one thing is certain: The Solo kids suck.

why would Revan be a woman? what about his romance and subsequent jedi children with Bastila culminating with Satale becoming grand master of the Jedi order?

god fucking damnit, next they'll make Meetra Surik be a transgender otherkin non sexual attack helicopter

>Shit even worse than the original EU
let's not be hasty here.

Because you got to choose the gender in kotor

Why? The movies are simple, boring good vs. evil shit where half the art design is made with toys in mind.

b-bu-but bioware's official canon made Revan a male and Meetra a woman

The Yuuzhan Vong were better than the shit we are getting now.

The main reason I can see is to hammer home the fact that it's a different character to the legends version.
Given the mass rape that TOR was, that's the best news the character could possibly hope for.

Chances are that they would put Revan in is to have that be the person Kylo stole his look from, so their gender wouldn't really be an issue anyway.

Lost Stars

this

What a terrible opinion.

>Millions of Worlds destroyed.
>literally 300 trillion sentient beings killed.
>Edgelord sado-masochistic extragalactic aliens using biotech clad in crab armor and using poison-spitting snake-swords use their biotech to manipulate gravity and pull moons into planets to destroy them.
>Nom Anor
>Chewbacca gets killed by aforementioned moon crashing.
>Jacen Solo goes absolutely insane from being tortured non-stop for a year and mindfucked by a fallen ex-jedi from the clone wars era.
>Jaina becomes the Mace Windu of the new jedi.

So much retarded shit in it.

Compared to the copypasted verbal shit we are getting now, with more stormtroopers and an EVEN BIGGER DEATH STAR THAT EATS SUNS the Vong we pretty original. New SW is so fucking boring. They are playing it completely safe, recycling every scrap they can from the OT without introducing anything new or interesting. And for no real reason, since they have the mass public by the balls with hype. There's no new threat, no new anything. It's the Jedi and Rebels. Again. With The same characters or at least their archetypes, again.

This is why Star Wars sucks. Its autistic movie purist fans and clueless casual audience that say they like it only because it's expected of them just want to see the same shit over and over. It's an entire galaxy of cultures, races, planets, timelines, etc, but all anyone wants to see is the same handful of characters doing the same things they always do on the same handful of worlds.

everything you just said gave me a boner.

NJO was best bro

Aftermath was shit, and from what Ive heard Life Debt is more shit. Thanks Chuck the Cuck

>EVEN BIGGER DEATH STAR THAT EATS SUNS
Yea because Legends was never guilty of that, right?

Life Debt isn't out yet

Hey now, there were a lot of shit in the NJO, but Nom Anor was a GOAT character. Probably one of my favorite in the entire SW EU.

reviewers have had it. One of the hosts talked about it for a few minutes on Colliders Jedi Council show last week. He said Chucks writing is just as awful as it was in Aftermath

Some of the EU books were pretty great and had some baller characters in them like Grand Admiral Thrawn. I wish they didn't just haphazardly say it was all non-canon

Where's the one Donut Steele superweapon to rule them all?
I hope I'm not just being blind.

Yeah, and people hated it for that exact reason. But for whatever reason the new movie is praised even though Starkiller base is just Starforge + Centerpoint + Death Star.

Great. Great news.

Did they say anything about the actual plot? Is it an enjoyable story at least?

I listen to audiobooks so I can usually tolerate shitty writing. Its the story I'm worried about

What a sad list.

I believe he said he wasnt too far, but he wasnt convinced that he would be sucked into it. He has a huge boner for Lost Stars and Bloodline

Actually that list is missing quite a few of them for some reason.

>ywn see Han Solo pilot the sun crusher through the Maw
why even live?

Never having to see the sun crusher seems like a pretty good reason to me.

and the Starforge and the Centerpoint were still better than Starkiller base hell the Starforge had a good concept since it wasn't "muh death lazoor" the Centerpoint well it's the Centerpoint

Jesus Christ this is embarrassing.

>"The villains of my book will be reskinned version of people I don't like in real life."

Can't wait for Darth Trump to build a wall to keep the Yuzhan Vong out.

Most of the video games are shit aside from xwing and tie fighter, most of the books are shit, most of the series on tv are shit with flashes of brilliance, for example pretty much any encounter with darth in rebels is fun and has the appropriate amount of menace, but the show is weighed down because it has the kid friendly tone that prevents them from doing anything serious with the show

T. Autistic manchild

Just stay in your containment board Sup Forums

He's got a point, m8.

The guy is the living avatar of everything people hate about numales.

I think this belongs on /lit/, Sup Forums and a new containment board called /sw/

Who is "the guy", he doesn't mention anyone specific

this. the movies are fine, but anything other than that has always been garbage. it's a fantasy series about a single family line. the rest is window dressing.

Shit, thought you were linking to a different post talking about Wendig.

He's really referring to

God damn, I love star wars

>God damn, I love star wars
And god damn does disney love your money

I'm glad. This way we both benefit.

I get more Star Wars and Disney gets more money

>I get more Star Wars
Not without George you don't. You get SW fan-fiction.

I really enjoy Rebels even if it's not as good as TCW (yet)

A New Dawn and Lost Stars are pretty good. Currently reading Bloodline and it's decent so far (but I'm only like 6 or 7 chapters in, manlet X Wing pilot is the best new character so far)
Tarkin was meh

Some of the comics are good. The main Star Wars one is alright, Darth Vader is fucking cool, Lando was good.

And a lot of nucanon is pretty bad. Aftermath is a steaming pile of poorly written shit. I couldn't even finish it and I fucking love to hate on it. Fuck Chuck Wendig
Herkily jerkily

I like what Disney is doing though. Even if Episode 7 wasn't great, the current connected universe they are making with the Storygroup is miles better than anything Legends put out

youtube.com/watch?v=DhQPu-5C-WY

tell me that wasn't actually published
