You could think about it this way, If you take a 3-d object and move it through time and draw that abject at every location along its path, we have a 4-d representation of said object. A 5th dimensional representation is simply to take that path we have drawn and move it through time, then draw the path at all locations it existed at on the path. Think of the object(path) existing at every location along the way at once.

a line is 1 dimensional,
an area is 2-d, surface is 3-d etc.
as for negative dimensions, never heard of em, as far as I know dimensions must be positive natural numbers (so no zeroth dimension unless we are talking relatively such that time started at the big bang, but who's to say time didn't exist before such an event).

Last thing before I bugger of on this topic.
Looked into Negative dimensions. In layman's terms: they exist because we defined them to exist in the mathematics of space and are essentially the same (but opposite) of a dimension (think backwards time -inf < t < 0). Best way to think of it is circle inversion it seems.
Anyway sorry to bog down this thread, enjoy your r34 boys.
