Rap
Be real, conscious rap failed us
what is conscious rap even?
How's my rap man
>Y'all might've seen fireworks, lemme show you inspireworks
>I might retire first but I'm not the guy that hurts
>Whenever y'all push me, it might be me
>Sorry I lied to you, I lie to me
>The same way y'all do, whenever you say yo we'll call you
>To bring the heat like summertime
>Well what do you think I'm wondering about?
>How to be summer, wow
>Wondering around this city, wandering, pondering
Kendrick - section 80 is a great example
Anything that tries to analyze the tragedy instead of glorifying or showcasing.
>I like rap
>I make rap music
Pleb level: 1000
you mean like Hopsin?
Is that what Hopsin raps about? I listened to his most popular tracks on Spotify and I just didn't dig it.

How can you listen to this and not wanna get noided?

Is this conscious rap
Sounds like a tame version of Run The Jewels, who have some concious hip hop songs. But also just traditional hip hop with a political spin. Talking about politics or the media doesn't make you a concious rapper. It's when you make an argument and conclude on that argument about what causes those problems.
rap started out good and then turned to shit
anyone else find old school rap incredibly grating to listen to? not to mention corny as hell.
I find modern rap grating and corny
>people who unironically use the word corny
>Public Enemy, N.W.A., Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar, De La Soul, Ice Cube, Death Grips, Dr. Dre, Ed OG and Da Bulldogs, The Roots, Eminem, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Boogie Down Productions
>Not good
I will say that as a Brit our rap is pretty shit though, apart from The Streets and a few Dizzee Rascal and Skepta songs.
>people who use the word unironically
rap was, is, and always will be shit
/thread me
no lie I would rather listen to Will fucking Smith than modern rap
>There are fans of punk music who can't even appreciate rap when it is pretty much the black man's punk rock
I like how you shoehorned Death Grips into that list of shitty artists. Furthermore
>Death Grips
>a rap group
Death Grips has and always will be a conceptual art exhibition anchored by sound and vision.
jokes on you I don't like punk or rap
Yeah most modern rap is shit apart from Kendrick and Death Grips but when the genre was at it's peak ('87/'88ish to about '95/'96ish) it was easily on the same level as the best rock music.
I firmly believe that anyone who doesn't like Afrobeat/Soul, Funk, R&B, and Hip Hop are racist on some level.
Jazz is mostly a matter of intelligence.
punk rock is dead. being an angry lefty with unnatural hair is not rebellious anymore. its the fucking status quo.
rap would be dead too, if (((they))) didn't keep rap's decaying corpse on permanent life support
RETARDS
what if I only like funk and old hiphop
I need to like all those genres to not be considered racist by the current wave of numale SJWs?
I do like Funk and R&B, but Rap is terrible, I firmly believe that anybody who mainly listens to rap is not worth having as a friend
Hip hop now is what rock was in the 60s/70s. Not liking the genre could be considered social suicide, but I know plenty of fun people that don't care for it (mostly because they've only heard memerap and the worst of the worst).
trips confirm
who the fuck wastes their time hanging out with people that only respect them if they listen to the "right" music? fuck that
>People who use the word unironically unironically
They are a rap group fundamentally, the way that bands like Radiohead, Arcade Fire and Alt-J are fundamentally rock groups.
Those "shitty artists" pioneered, not only a music genre, but an entire culture.
>Not liking the genre could be considered social suicide
I have plenty of friends. I am an adult now so this is not an issue. Most people I know do not listen to rap either except one guy I hang out with regularly but he's black so it's expected desu.
Basically what I am saying is I don't hang out with fuckboys so not a lot of my friends are into rap
>Those "shitty artists" pioneered, not only a music genre, but an entire culture.
yeah imagine what would have happened if they didn't exist; more black children in south central would have fathers and the music on the radio wouldn't be so shitty
one can dream
>male
>doesn't like rap
>even though it perfectly characterizes the male experience
>still absorbs the culture without credit
t. white people
>I am going to assume you are white because you don't like rap
that is where you are wrong my friend
I just find very little musical merit in Rap 'music'
>popular music
>merit
>I dislike music that is popular so I can keep my special snowflake persona
are you afraid the cool kids won't let you sit at their table during lunch or something?
anyone who doesn't think rap is good should listen to The Cold Vein and Liquid Swords
OP here,
just wanted to let you know Liquid Swords is the only rap album on my harddrive
>people who use the phrase "people who use x unironically" unironically
my male experience does not involve 24" rims on an expensive SUV, jewelry, or drugs
All of your replies have demonstrated that you naturally fail to grasp any sort of rhetoric, which makes me skeptical about anything you would "appreciate" or find "merit" in.
Some people don't like certain thing, and with music its about what you feel when you hear it and what you were exposed to. I guarentee you don't like hip hop because you're either racist or not very much a fan of music, just certain stylea that justify your apathy and shameful masturbation.
I guess by that logic it doesn't involve any women or money either right
>assessing the surface value of anything to argue that a point is incorrect
Most male want girls, money and power above all else. Maybe you're just one of those peoplw that has testosterone issues.
holy shit guys, I just stumbled on a wrong generation facebook on Sup Forums
>he fell for the "embrace materialism so women will like me" meme
Rap is a perfectly fine form of poetry... Just not music.
you having a euphoric time in your tunic and barrel rejecting materialism there Socrates?
are you actually trying to insult me by comparing me to a great philosopher?
>posting on Sup Forums

>people who don't listen to Gary Numan
Rap more like brap
