Your "setup"

How do you listen to music
Headphones?
Speakers?
iPhone or computer or iPod?
Record player only?
Sportify or Apple Music ?
Torrenting?
YouTube to MP3

And lastly why?

Personally
-audia technicas ~ 100 bucks sound great
- laptop with Apple Music
- Bluetooth Sonos speakers sometimes

CDs/iTunes/Soulseek/Vinyl
Denon stereo system/JVC Gumy In-ear headphones
Laptop (MusicBee)/iPhone/Audio Technica AT-LP120

spotify - laptop - mid-tier sony headphones

Spotify/VLC on my laptop
Spotify/Poweramp on my phone
Both with M50Xs or shitty earbuds when I'm out and about

spotify/tidal/foobar2000
neumann kh420 at pc
spendor bc1a in living room
akg k712 at night

stereo passive speakers with tube amp (good shit)
itunes ALAC where possible because i'm locked into apple
usually dl from the archive, bandcamp, boomkat or individual label's sites, itunes store if it's literally not available anywhere else
fuck spotify

legit

i got some AKG k712's with a fiio amp

classic ipod and got foobar2000 on my computer

>Headphone setup
Sennheiser HD600
Magni 2 uber/ Modi2 dac
>Stereo
Pioneer sx-737 reciever
Marantz Turntable
Technics Cassette Deck
Sony 5 disc cd changer
>Other
Sony minidisc portable player.

youtube through my rokit5's

headphones suck and i dont download music or even have a media player

>minidisc
damn, haven't seen that crap in decades

i never liked that AAC compression, mang

Headphones: Bose Quiet Comfort 15s
Speakers: Yamaha HS8 monitors
mainly through my car speakers

Martin Logan Motion 10 Front speakers
Martin Logan Motion 6 Center channel
Noresco 5870 omnipolar (surrounds)
Yamaha HTR 6050 receiver
Peavey 8.5C power amp (for subs)
2 big ugly home built sub cabinets with old school Rockford 15" subs

oh shit dude i got motion 15s myself

They've got a heil of a tweeter.

Yamaha HS8 through a steinberg UR22 MK2

Headphones don't compare. Although when I use headphones its mainly My M50's or xb900

M50x and Foobar on both windows and Android. Most of my music came from the archive, but I try to pay Bandcamp artists when I like it enough.

My Vinyl system
Rega RP1 table with Ortofon 2M Red Cart
Pioneer SP BS22LR speakers
Sony GX800ES receiver
D-Box David 300 subwoofer

How much can you all attest to the difference of high quality speakers, headphones, etc?
I listen to music through cheap, shitty Coloud headphones and I think this is good, how much of a of a difference do you all actually hear comparatively? It feels incomprehensible to me

go to a store and try for yourself

Sony GX49ES receiver
Sony KA1ESA cassette
Sony MDR 7506 phones
Pioneer PD-F505 25 disc changer
Pioneer PL990 (crappy) temporary turntable
TEAC EQA-10 EQ

At my laptop I just use Foobar, my MDR phones and some "good enough" $80 Logitech setup.

The big old stuff with lights and buttons is just more fun...

if you do this bring your own CD to listen to though, otherwise they'll play you stuff that makes any system sound good

theres no way theyre actually good. But remember theres a point where it becomes retarded. Like these crazy speaker designs that do nothing and $3000 power cables are crossing the line

> other guy got there first
ya, go to a shop that has demo units set up. Remember to bring your own music.

what is going on at that eq

iPod classic 80GB with Gigaware dock/speakers.

its always acoustic guitar at obnoxious levels. Unironically take dubstep, it will give you a quick overview of the systems response. But of course take your own music, take an upsweep too

I've had this awful setup for several years now of having an aux cord plugged into a fucking 12" fender bass amplifier
headphones for serious listening sometimes
12" rockford in the vehicle for even more serious listening

how do u mean

or do you just hate mids

It's diminishing returns.
Each step up in quality is five to ten times as expensive as the previous step.

The middle is gone

oh well yeah sometimes with metal music on cassette its just gotta be like that imo. that thing is also almost 40 years old and the mids aren't gonna sound too prime to begin with. i'd like to get a Sony ES EQ one day but those high end vintage Sony prices...

Headphones
>Magni/Modi Schiit stack
>Beyerdynamic DT880s

Computer speakers:
>Audioengine A2

Stereo Setup:
>NAD amp
>Pro-Ject Essential II
>Nakamichi cassette player
>PSB bookshelf speakers
>Aiwa CD player

Mostly listen through my laptop, but I cycle 8 random albums on my phone every month or so and have a pair of Urban Ears as beaters.

Thank you all, was expecting harsh responses

no its literal placebo. yes diminishing returns is a thing in audio, but most overpriced amps, cables, etc have been shown in every scenario to have no impact on the set up

This is me except for the shitty Earbuds. I got some pistons which are solid

> returns so diminished that it takes special testing equipment far beyond the capabilities of humans to distinguish any difference

DT770 pro 80 ohm w/ fiio a3 amp

Tidal on iPhone 6 mainly, sometimes on PC

Sony MDR-V600's for my computer ideally listening to FLAC or MP3 at 320kbps.

Sony MDRZX100's for my phone, usually the same bitrate.

Hopefully, I can get a record collection started and run Vintage Pioneer speakers, because I envy my dad's.

If I need to listen to the radio, I have one in my car and one that's either corded or battery-powered.

Oh yeah, I use Foobar for my PC and Phonograph/Bandcamp for my Android Phone.

the funny thing about people like this is that for all their resources and money, they have like no actual taste. Look at his wall, look at that godawful community-college-therapist tier 'art' on the wall. Look at the pseudo "avant" matting of it

Disgusting.

um, anyway,
grado sr80's,
Soulseek on my Dell XPS, mostly V0,
a u-turn turntable with grado blue cartridge
Micca powered bookshelf speakers

Google Play music on my nexus 5x with borrowed apple earbuds when I'm on the go

oh yeah, soulseek 4 everything

what's the radio like where you are?

Pioneer FS-52 speakers
Yamaha R-S500 receiver
Oppo DV-970HD for CDs and SACDs
Technics SL-Q2 turntable
Technics RS-T22 tapedeck
Some Bluetooth thing I got from walmart

ncmpcpp+mpd on my chinkpad and koss porta pros until I save up for HD600s an

Stereo:
marantz model 2226 b head unit
audio technica lp-120
my dad's old speakers from college in the 70's (kinda shitty pioneers)

Portable
Fiio X3
bose earbuds for campus
sennheiser HD 598s for home listening

I also like to plug the senns into the head unit so the speakers and the headphones play simultaneously, it's cool when you're singing along

>tube amp
>fuck spotify

this is me

Shit. I live in Chattanooga. So the best you get is either the Spanish Channel for real traditional shit, NPR for Yuppiecore, or Top 40 hits.

I wish I had my own gear to broadcast.

Speakers: Acoustic Research AR-11s (mains). RSL RS6 (rears, for that multichannel music goodness). Sub. Rythmik F12

Turntable: Marantz 6200.

Receiver: Marantz 6900.

Blu-Ray player (plays SACD and DVD-A): Yamaha BD-a1040.

Cassette Player: Fisher studio.

EQ. BSR 3000 (only used for the tape player).

I forgot to mention that I did College Radio and I think every Sup Forumstant should run a transceiver.

What makes you think anyone here actually listens to music, kid?

vlc on laptop w/5.1 or headphones
filebrowser on iphone, with headphones or the shitty ones apple gives you

PC playing 320 and flac and bone stock LP120, both connected to a Fiio E17 (usb for pc and analog to LP120) and outputs to

Headphones
- M50
- ATH-AD700
- M Audio Q40 (I've not use this in years now)

or Spherex EXKBAWKS speakers running only in stereo. The shitty built in amp has issues with
digital inputs, resulting in crackle and pop, but the issues don't appear with analog input. So useless for surround, but perfect for stereo. Although I hardly use them now, since I moved into a townhome.

Occasionally will stream something through amazon echo or echo dot.

works fine for me. I've been thinking of find an old CD player and receiver.

I don't listen to portable music anymore and my car is just the stock honda package in the 4th gen crv with MP3 on a usb stick.

>Schitt Audio Modi II UBER and Magni II UBER into TH-X00,
>Project Debut Carbon into Yamaha amp into 2.1

Looking to replace my amp however to something from Denon and to get some JBL LSR305s for my PC setup.

Tannoy reveal monitors
Akg 712k pro
Ipod headphones for exercise
Mp3 320 or vinyl (not as good as mp3 to me).

jesus christ man that top right image, put something on your walls, looks depressing af

>foobar2000
>free downloads, offliberty otherwise
>secondhand edifier speakers that's louder on one side
>samsung earphones, now sennheiser

nice to see some 712 bros in here
I thought these were rather obscure on this board

>25 disc changer

i didn't even know it was possible

great stuff man

Foobar/Tidal
Denon ah-mm400 at desktop
Soundmagic e80c on phone

Tidal and foobar
HD 800, LCD-2
Boutique Bryston amp and overpriced Schiit DAC

When I realized I could afford to buy into the audiophile meme, it was too tempting not to try

>Headphones?
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro
>Speakers?
Don't know the name off the top of my head, lmao. I think they're Bose?
Also when I'm driving just the generic speakers in a sedan.
>iPhone or computer or iPod?
Computer, sometimes phone via Bluetooth when I'm in my car.
>Record player only?
Not exclusively
>Sportify or Apple Music ?
foobar2000
>Torrenting?
Exclusively :^)
>YouTube to MP3
Absolute last resort
> And lastly why?
Fun things are fun

B&W P7
Audioengine A2+
Laptop
No
No
No, strictly soulseek or Uploaded, Omerta etc.

>Headphones?
Superlux HD680 EVO and Uiissii HM7 in-ear earphones (this thing is 5 bucks on aliexpress, but sounds fucking great)
>Speakers
Videoton Preludium B31 speakers and a Sony amp. They're not very good, especially with my laptop's integrated soundcard, but I don't have money for a better a system yet.
>iPhone or computer or iPod?
I use my laptop at home, and my xiaomi redmi 3 on the go.
>Spotify or Apple Music?
Spotify premium

There are actually Sony CD changers that hold 400+ now. I've never had more than 10 in mine once personally, but it was $18 and it works wonderfully. People used these as playlist makers you could program them to shuffle and choose tracks with the remote for many hours of music. MP3 did this for the mass market and kinda cancelled these out, sound quality non-withstanding.

just a humble little dual, shure m97xe cart. the 1229 is a really sweet table, works like clockwork.

i run it through a pretty decent pioneer receiver to a pair of polk rt55's. sounds great- maybe when i'm not paying tuition i'll pick up some nicer components.

for tapes i use a toshiba kt-s1 portable player.

>Headphones?
ATH-M50x
skull candy ear buds
>Speakers?
My stock car speakers or my built in laptop speakers
>iPhone or computer or iPod?
Android phone, and laptop
>Record player only?
I want to get one but can't really justify it
>Sportify or Apple Music ?
VLC
>Torrenting?
When I have access to a vpn
>YouTube to MP3
only with the weird shit that I can't find anywhere else

Audio Technica mx50
Spotify, foobar and soulseek
UE BOOM, AXL amp
also just ordered a pair of xiaomi hybrid pro 3

holy shit nice.

Spotify/torrenting

Alone and at home:
Sennheiser HD 598
Desktop

People over:
SONY CMT-S30iP (nothing special speakers)
Desktop

Not at home:
apple earbuds
Android phone

Looking to get a record player, but it seems like a chore.
