Nashville music scene local here. Here's the run down of the scene here:

>obsessed with talking about race on Facebook and blaming each other for there not being enough POC in the scene
>everyone is in about 5 bands and the same people book all the shows and put one of their bands on and only the bands of the "right" people
>pretty dead scene because of the exclusivity
>about every other week some dude in a band gets accused of raping a bunch of girls and everyone goes on a witch hunt
I used to love music until I started going to lots of these shows. I legitimitely believe the world would be a better place if these hipsters all died in a fire

this shit pisses me off so much. a handful of mediocre bands playing every weekend because "muh tightly knit musical circle", while actual talented bands play rarely. I think most scenes suffer from disproportions in publicity though

I'm not in the music scene but it's relatively small but active and we lack in underground music, but we were the center for country on the west coast in the 60's. Also Korn, Adema, and several other Nu metal started here, so theres that. Also we can't forget Prussian Blue, by far the best band to come out of Bakersfield. Also heard one of our local rave promoters DJed at at our local anime convention and played Minimal techno before the dance officially started so that caught me off guard, along with a Psytrance track during the dance.
