Am I the only one who seriously liked him in this role?
I thought the casting of Eisenberg, primarily known for his Oscar-nominated performance as Mark Zuckerbeg, was a pretty brilliant bit of meta-commentary on the contemporary nature of corporate power.
Contemporary Lex Luthor would be some spoiled brat - a Martin Shkreli type, if you will - as it better represents the futile nature of mankind against these new superheroes.
He had that classic millenial sarcasm - sardonically mocking just about every figure of authority in the film - really just a playful Mark Zuckerbeg on steroids.
Meanwhile all the crying babies who didn't like the casting wanted Bryan Cranston because he's bald.
Anyone else really dig this role and performance? I want to see what shit he gets up to in Arkham/Justice League.
No. Not only was he one of the worst parts of the movie, he's one of the reasons people actively didn't go see it. Wonder Woman was awful, but probably didn't hurt things. Gun Batman hurt sales, but it wasn't as widely broadcast among normies.
Faggot Lex though? It's not like he's Calculator or Eclipso or T.O.Morrow where your average person hasn't heard of him. People know who Lex Luthor is.
Ian Jones
No I agree, he was fantastic. A perfect foil to Superman.
Beta autistic nu male cuck comic fans are the ones who sperg'd about the performance.
Robert Cooper
Horribly miscast. Listen to the words he says then imagine another interpretation besides wannabe joker. Would have been much better without this stupid idiot trying to be crazy.
Chase Cook
Batman scenes were one of the things that saved this film from being total shit.
Hudson Hughes
His version of lex didn't fit the rest of the movie at all but I was entertained by it nonetheless.
Colton Carter
No, he's seriously one of the best parts. Essentially it's Snyder and co. making fun of fedoralords so rampant today.
Jaxson Stewart
Completely agree. I hated him when I first saw it in theaters though. I saw the extended cut last week and was blown away. It just kind of clicked with me and I really appreciated what they were going for. He really does at moments come off as unstable, and someone who thinks himself above man's laws and things like morality. Very narcissistic and borderline psychotic, while perhaps having enough self awareness to realize what he's doing but willing to dismiss it for his goal. It's like TDK's Joker but leagues better.
Nicholas Reed
He was a good villain and gave a great performance. He was NOT Lex Luthor though, thats the big issue.
James Price
No, he was fine. People whining about 'muh Joker' or 'not muh Lex' are just upset Sup Forumsmblrites.
Connor James
I liked him, yo, thought his portrayal of Lex was refreshing and original compared to the comics version. Instead of some charismatic mastermind, he comes off as some creepy autist with severe mentally instability and I love the shit out of that
Luke Garcia
Jesse Eisenberg seems pretty cool, he hangs out with Kristen Stewart which sounds like the best thing ever
Michael Reed
IT'S NOT MUH LEX LUTHOR IT'S NOT JUST LIKE MUH COMICS WAAAAAAH
Ayden Turner
Naw Lex Luthor was a 20th century corporate mogul who hates what Superman represents.
This Lex Luthor is a 21st century corporate mogul who hates what Superman represents.
Carter Morris
>DIFFERENT??? >ME NO LIKE DIFFERENT!!!!
Noah King
oops,meant for
Justin Williams
I love how contrarian Sup Forums is about this. Eisenberg is a faggot and he played a faggot autist. The movie sucked, it was 2 and a half hours of shitty drama and an autist sperging out occasionally. Fuck all of you.
Wyatt Foster
i never understood why people got so triggered by it
to me he was just a guy, and his 'eccentricities' actually reminded me of people i've known irl i'm down with it
Daniel James
Wasn't he ALEXANDER Luthor, Lex Luthor's son?
Austin Long
>my father was the lex in front of the corp
Isaac Bennett
Your didn't read Superman Birthright.
Ayden Harris
He was shit. You have shit taste.
Jackson Anderson
I liked him, and he was a good villain, and Eisenberg did a fine performance. But it was not Lex Luthor.
Michael Bell
He WASN'T Joker/Riddler rip-off at all I will say.
Liam Wilson
he loves cock, she loves pussy. its a match made in homo heaven.
Connor Campbell
>Anyone else really dig this role and performance? No, he played him as a gay joker.
Michael Roberts
Rooftop scene is the greatest part

Robert Cook
probably my favorite part of the film next to the new beefy batman
Adrian Bell
because every opinion different from the mass opinion is contrarianism. I loved lex luthor from the day i saw theatrical cut.
Jose Ramirez
I actually think that's why his dad was mentioned, to show how he didn't earn anything it was just given to him
Gavin Scott
cos she is stronk woman
Luis Myers
I liked him, especially as a Lex origin story. This is how he came to be "the real" Lex. Fucking Superman and Batman's shit up, gaining universal knowledge, getting humbled and imprisoned. NOW he's Lex.
>The devil gets, as usual, the most florid dialogue, and Jesse Eisenberg dispenses it with exuberant intelligence. He steals every scene. In a recent interview in Le Monde, Eisenberg discussed his approach to the role:
>"Luthor becomes a character from Greek tragedy. At least, that’s how I approached it, in accord with the screenwriter. He only talks about ideas, which makes him a profoundly theatrical character. I can also play on a paradox: rendering this individual funny although he behaves in an appalling way, also showing him prone to deep depressions because of his internal conflicts. I did everything I could to theatricalize him in the extreme. I had read lots of the adventures of Superman in comic books, but it was impossible to draw on them to find a way to play Luthor. Too schematic. Too much of a caricature. I reconfigured the character as if he became in fact the center of the film."
>Eisenberg’s gleeful and inventive performance suggests that he may be at his best in a tight framework that restrains his physicality and converges his acting to vocal inflections and turns of phrase, gestures and facial expressions.
Asher Hernandez
He was the best part of BvS.
Anthony Anderson
D R O P P E D R O P P E D
Camden Cruz
Compelling counterpoint. I'm now re-thinking my stance.
Tyler Scott
He was really good and his character worked really well, hope his transfomation works too.
Jeremiah Myers
There's not enough grandiose figures in films, they always make the best antagonists.
Justin Jenkins
He would have been ok if he wasn't playing Lex Luthor. He was horrible as Lex. Should of just made him a new villain that wasn't from the comcis.
Easton Perez
i liked him too
martin shkreli isnt a spoiled brat though
Bentley Ortiz
>Martin Shkreli >rips off insurance companies and gives live-saving pills for free >villain user, I...
Henry Flores
He's becoming Lex senpai.
Caleb Long
Thank you. You should still feel bad though.
Adam Harris
i hate the way people frame these sorts of statements, as if they depictions of characters in individual movies aren't valid but i agree, bvs was a lex origin story it'll be interesting to see how he changes and how he goes about regaining power and influence
Henry Hernandez
Yeah it annoys me how narrow-minded people can be about these things, even so it seemed obvious to me that Lex was still on the path to becoming more like his classic self.
Benjamin Barnes

Daniel Miller

You're not nearly as funny as you think you are.
