>TFW you've wasted thousands of hours on Sup Forums when you could have learned useful skills, fostered meaningful relationships or at the very least earned money

bumo desu whjty

And I wouldn't change a damn thing. I love you fuckers, no matter how fucking stupid some of you may be. We can't do it without you guys. It's been a wild ride on this site, and I don't intend to stop anytime soon.

I don't agree. I hate all of you and the time I've wasted here.

The only people I've met who weren't subhuman have been on /sci/, /fit/ and /biz/.

Ah well mate, at least we can agree to disagree.

>IMDB boards is dead
>the internet is dead

If Sup Forums dies, where do we go from here?

There will be no other safe-haven for us. This is pretty much the only place I'm comfortable with at this point.

Safe haven for autism? Why should there even be one.

Pshh, like you have any room to talk

This website needs to be removed. Too many good people are wasting their lives on this cesspit.

Nah mate, if we don't have this, where would the cancerous people go to leave the sensible people the fuck alone?

They wouldn't be cancerous anymore because their disgusting degenerate behavior wouldn't be reinforced.

I think the internet was a mistake. It has done a lot of good for people but it has also done a whole lot of evil. And I sometimes question whether it was worth it.

At least we can have half-decent conversations like this about how such things, I s'pose.

I like Sup Forums because it doesn't feel controlled. Ya know what I mean? Reddit for example is full of political bias, and big companies buying upvotes. It is fucking artificial. This page is just people not giving a shit about their opinions, they are honest about their views.

It is not that the internet is evil. There are wayyy more fucked up people in the world than you think. But those don't reveal it, now with the internet that protects your identity they do.

i don't like freedom of speech if this is what it entails. Maybe moderation and strongly upheld rules are important.

Also there's small and mid-sized subreddits that are high-quality on reddit. Probably due to a better platform and being able to ban shitposters, also easier to search through posts.

I do agree on that. But that regulation can be minimal (removing gore, porn, etc.)

Agreed. It should at least be relevant to the topic at hand.

I just think that the platform and moderation is far too barebones.

Even take reddit for example, you can send private messages, set flairs, ban shitposters, easy to search posts (no need for an archive), can add a fully-featured wiki in the side bar, etc.

True, true, but that's because they actually have accounts that they signed up for. The same can't be said about Sup Forums.

>now with the internet that protects your identity they do.

The modern internet or the mobile internet is actually very strict and against anonymity. Internet forums where you had a nickname are essentially dead, all main conversations are done in Facebook or Twitter where everything you write is being saved and monitored. Sup Forums is basically the last place on the internet where you can have complete freedom.

>Sup Forums is basically the last place on the internet where you can have complete freedom.

You say it like it's a good thing though. If this is what complete freedom looks like then it's complete shit.

The best forums I've been on had strict moderation where shitposters were banned immediately and had zero tolerance for non-productive discussion or not using the search feature for example.

I'm not really for stuff that's 100% serious 100% of the time. Just feels a bit claustrophobic, since saying one wrong word can get you smacked in the teeth by the banhammer.

There is usually "meme section" of such forums though. Imageboards on the other-hand seem more representative of Anarchy which has nearly no moderation at all (in the case of Sup Forums, around this time particularly) so it just scares off anyone trying to discuss something meaningful.

That moderation can get out of hand tho. It is tied to the personal criteria of the moderator wich can be arbitrary. If they get offended or you disagree with their opinion they ban you.

I've had this happen before. Something like "your title is misleading" or some shit I don't know, when it was just a joke. Fuckin' irresponsible mods.

Why wasted, though? It's the time spent practicing English, "learning" other cultures, meeting people. Not too bad I'd say, especially when you're on your smartphone somewhere in the university on a boring lecture.

>especially when you're on your smartphone somewhere in the university on a boring lecture.
Exactly, it can also apply if you are working. You can still be productive.

int has taught me a lot about geography, foreign cultures and history

fit has taught me to do squats, drink plenty of milk and how to act alpha

Sure, a lot of time was wasted on this site, but at least I have gained some valuable knowledge through all my shitposts. Had it not been for Sup Forums, I would probably still be a weak, uncultured wimp.

That's implying you wouldn't have done something in place of Sup Forums.

Yes you have learned more than if you had just stared at a wall but the method of learning is extremely inefficient.

>Practicing English
I suppose that applies if you aren't already fluent
>"Learning other cultures"
I seriously doubt it, Sup Forums seems like a board where everyone shits on each other relative to their cunt
>Meeting people
we are all anonymous, and we are all over the world, we don't meet people on this site

Sup Forums is just something to fill the void, a bare modicum of social interaction to stave off thoughts of the end, if only 'just for one day'

Maybe his incentive for learning all that stuff would have been non existing since it is not as entertaining for him, thus, not inefficient.

I guess... But besides that there's really such a minimal amount of information to gather from Sup Forums boards before marginal returns kicks in.

For /fit/ it's like reading the sticky and then just coming to ask a question if you have any issue (2-3 hours at most spent on there before you've used up just about all that you're going to gain)

Same with Sup Forums or other boards. It's just the first few hours that are productive really.

>Learned useful skills
Learned how to take everything in the media with a grain of salt, learned how to talk English on a way more advanced level than I would without it, learned to not lose my nerves when someone insults me but how to insult them back, learned how to make kick ass crystals from household items

>Fostered meaningful relationships
I have talked to this site about life issues I could talk to no one else, and there has always been someone to listen to me. I have cried and laughed with these people. I might not know their name but they sure as hell are not meaningless.

>Earned money
Well some user once bought me a pizza when I was broke.
