No it didn't you faggot.

Also, it wasn't a reboot but a continuation of the series with a new cast of main characters.

Hey hey hey whoa

Extreme Ghostbusters was actually legitimately good.

It was a soft reboot. It had a shit new cast with a cripple, a lazy Mexican, a black guy who "does machines" and a goth girl who's an expert in the occult; aka the only one actually qualified to be a Ghostbuster.

There's a damn good reason this dogshit show only lasted one single season.

I remember when shills tried to tell us movies were good instead of trying to rile up reactions to feed shitstorms.

How can you guys live with yourselfes? Do you think you are clever somehow?

>It was a soft reboot.

Soft reboots are ambiguous reboots that don't explicitly say they're a reboot or not. It's clearly a continuation as Ergon is there.

>It had a shit new cast with a cripple

No, an EXTREME cripple.

People are calling the new Star Wars a soft reboot. As it follows the same story but with a new cast.

You guys are trying way, WAY too hard.
Extreme Ghostbusters was very well recieved.
Besides, why would you go after the obscure late 90s cartoon barely anybody remembers?
If you want to shit on something, why not shit on the latter seasons of Real Ghostbusters, which WERE legitimately terrible?

Or hell, Ghostbusters 2 is right the fuck there, ripe for the lambasting. It was also pretty damn terrible

>Extreme Ghostbusters was very well recieved.
Then why did it get cancelled after one season?

It didn't. It was syndicated. That's how syndicated shows WORK.

Why didn't they have a second season? Why does its own wikipedia page claim it was a failure?

> The failure of the show, was seen by SFX as showing "the appeal of Ghostbusters was only partially the concept... that it's the characters we love above all must be a sobering thought for anyone charged with rebooting Ghostbusters again."

No it wasn't.

youtube.com/watch?v=Y7cJPSaXO68

it wasn't great, but it didn't suck either you contrarian faglord

I like how you purposefully skip over the part where it was shafted by time slots.

And they didn't order a second season, because it was SYNDICATED.

The world of children's cartoons in the late 90s was pretty fucked any way you look at it. The fact that this show got all 40 of it's episodes both produced and aired is a pretty huge achievement on its own, frankly.

That song is horrible.

I identify it as a success, so it was and no internet "facts" can change that ^_^

could never figure out if the blonde guy was ramis or venkman. or is the fat guy venkman.

fuck you all those richard raynis shit was cool

it's embarrasing how accurately this song represents the late 90's early 00's alt rock phase

I actually did watch them unlike you it seems.

It sucked.

Sweet fucking christ, I just started listening to that with headphones. I swear, NOBODY could make that to the end. That was fucking horrible!

Better than this

youtube.com/watch?v=2AQ44nPrRTM

Does it REALLY need to be said that the new Ghostbusters film and everything involved with it is SHIT?

Extreme ghostbusters was great. It had minority characters who had other character traits than "I'm a minority"

Not EVERYTHING, weirdly

youtube.com/watch?v=0xJHQHgI5iA

Almost... but FUCK that song is painful. Even early Creed isn't THAT bad.

youtube.com/watch?v=0xJHQHgI5iA

Kylie sucked alright. In my dreams.

It's funny how the "not real" Ghostbusters ending up becoming the real Ghostbusters.

youtube.com/watch?v=0tdyU_gW6WE

Isn't this just a cover?

it doesnt matter what people are calling it you sped, thats still not a soft reboot as its literally a continuation of the story with original cast members

It had a lazy Mexican who couldn't be more of a walking, talking stereotype if he was voiced by Cheech Marin. And the crippled guy... amazing how every single haunted house in this universe is ADA compliant!

The other one is also just a cover.

well shieeet, this is barely above vaporwave tier editing of the original material

no wonder it's better than the rest of the shitshow

I liked the goth chick, it was shit otherwise.

>amazing how every single haunted house in this universe is ADA compliant
I'm fairly sure there were episodes where they had to leave him behind, find an another route or lift him

but they were a cashgrab, they were base on an older movie but by any other measure the real ghostbusters were in fact the original product, they were the reason for the brand recognition

No one gives a fuck about the Filmation ghostbusters.

For a quick lol leslie is a gorilla gag they do. I kind of like that show, main bad guy was cool.

>I liked the goth chick, it was shit otherwise.

Note she was the ONLY character from this show to later appear in any other media.

>doubling down on pretending to watch it

kek

What the fuck are you doing?

No seriously. Stop typing. Look away from your monitor for a second. Take a deep breath. Look out a window, if one is nearby.

Why are you doing this? This isn't even really shitposting at this point, because it implies anyone actually cares.

Nobody in this thread has thought of Extreme Ghostbusters in nigh on 20 years. Surely there are better, more relevent, less left-field things you could be shitposting about right now.

Like, even if you're going for the "Ghostbusters has always been shit" angle, even that doesn't work, because Ghostbusters 2 is right the fuck there, and NOBODY likes that. Surely, that would be more suited to your point?

where? you mean the videogames?

It's really not that bad.

I actually love Garbage, which the introductory riffs reminded me of, but the theme itself is still pretty shit

I just wana pull aside those tight little black shorts and slam that butt.

Actually the comic series.

Not OP but I think the point is that they've tried to change "Ghostbusters" before, and that was not well received. Exactly like the new "Ghostbusters" movie.

This is what the third movie should have been, Egon (or one of the others) and Janine mentoring the next gen of recruits but instead we get Fat Fem Busters

I remember the ghosts were super nasty.
I loved it.

it's not a terrible point, considering Extreme Ghostbusters also fell in similar pitfalls with the SJW shit, but the actual content of the show wasn't bad and it wasn't marketed as a referendum on your moral content either.

eugh wtf man that pepe hurts my eyes.

it mitigates it's redistribution and thus it will conserve it's value

It had a good premise and some of the story lines and plots were good, but it suffered the 90's syndrome of everything being extreme and PC. They tried sticking handy capable, and multiple ethnicities in several series but they all failed because they were trying too hard.

If they had toned it back by about 20% it would've been perfect.

at least the intro is way better than that audible diarrhea the new movie has

youtube.com/watch?v=K3Q8zqiNxxs

why do liberals think everyone wants what they want?

trick question! everyone in the world does this, especially you. except that liberals have no self irony about it. others too but liberals take it to new levels

>at least the intro is way better than that audible diarrhea the new movie has
I'm pretty sure nobody is saying that the new movie is better.

Did anyone ITT actually watch the original show?

Ghostbusters or The Real Ghostbusters?

I watched the original show in the 80's up until it got moved around from channel to channel (which I found to be super annoying). I wasn't old enough to see the original in theaters but i saw the sequel in theaters.

>Ghostbusters or The Real Ghostbusters?
see

Was this already the time of shaved cunts or did she have a nice big intact muff?

Would make a better movie than the crap we have now.

Hail to the king, baby

In the 90's? Likely trimmed, or shaved with a patch or landing strip.

Personally, that's what I prefer. A completely bald pussy looks 5 years old. That's only hot if you're a pedo.

It didn't you fucking faggot
>reboot
Ignorant ass fool, it was set in the future of the same setting, not a reboot
Get out of here with your weak shit

I remember a few chunks of the real ghostbusters and I do remember that the last season was actually called Slimer and the ghostbusters, but nothing beyond that.

Back then I just held the notion that they fought "evil spirits" generally but in one episode the dialogue may have referenced Satan at some point because it freaked me the fuck out for days

it was during brazilians being the big thing. so you'll either get a landing strip, a little french strip, or the ultra rare full brazilian for it's time.

That's the point.

I'm currently watching EGB and it really isn't "PC" or "dude extreme!" at all (except maybe garret, but that's just his character). Granted there's a goth chick bookworm, a black engineer, an ethnic (spic?) delinquent and of course, wheelchair-bound yet extremely athletic dude, but who cares. It's straight up, by the books ghostbusting with solid characters who actually banter and give each other shit, the way you'd expect of the uni students. There are no agendas or liberal shit forcing on the show at all. It's a great show and it left a lasting impression on me as a kid, since it introduced me to ghostbusters. It's just good fun.

> he keeps chatting shit

> "ITS SO GOOD THEY HAD TO NOT MAKE MORE!"

Disgusting.

The only episode I kinda remember is the one where they're all in a hospital because they all got part of a ghost stuck to their bodies

All the things you described are "extreme and pc" for the 90's. the wheelchair dude didn't have to be in a full on wheelchair and that type of character they'd been trying to stick in rehashes of popular series for a while (go look up the sailor moon western trailer). The PC part is having a girl in the group and having a handycapable person.

The extreme part is some parts of the character designs, such as the shoulder pads on the goth girl and the intro, the color palette and the fact it has extreme in the fucking title.

Like I said, if you toned it down 20%, it's a great series, because the good stuff that you described is exactly what I was talking about. The good story elements, the good character interactions. It's like someone had a really good premise and they were only given the greenlight if they through in those board member approved changes.

>Did anyone ITT actually watch the original show?
I do. Show was pretty dark for its time and its audience, I remember freaking out by the demon door that said it "will not open until doomsday"!

I also remember when Extreme came out. The idea of a group of college professors being replaced by teenaged assholes struck me as pretty stupid.

The episode with the not-Cenobites was fucked up.

regardless whether you like or hate Extreme

It's going to be far far better than nu-Ghostbusters

Does it really matter in the end?

But there were those final episodes where the rest of the Real Ghostbusters appeared and wanted their franchise back.
As a kid, seeing the mashup of the new and old bits of two great cartoons blew my mind.

Yeah. I want what's on her head on her pussy too. Thick long jet black hair you can run your fingers through forever.

Well she is a goth girl, maybe she didn't go with popular culture stuff like waxing.

>watch this show when I was 8
>get into it. its actually quite good
>get up to an episode where people are sent to a hotel where they are attacked and deformed into monsters
>dont sleep for 2 fucking days
seriously some of this was a bit too much for a kids show

A lot of the ghosts where impressively dark, serious, creative in design, as I remember. They tapped into that... I don't know the name for the aesthetic. Alt-demonic? Grotesque horror occult? Lovecraftian magic? Whatever it is it's cool as hell and daring to put in a kids cartoon.

Go fuck yourself Evans.

So what would be an example of a "soft reboot", in your opinion?

I really didn't get that sense from it then, or now. I can see what you're saying but I just disagree that toning it down would have improved it because i just don't see what there is to tone down. I guess we'll agree to disagree.

...

I remember someone in my family getting tricked by the Filmation Ghostbusters, and getting me a VHS of it for one of my birthdays when I was really young. I just recall thinking "what the hell is this?" when that theme song started.

youtube.com/watch?v=WYgO8LWKH4I

I remember one episode wheels fell out of his wheelchair and struggled to make it up a simple hill in a dire situation or something. I couldn't tell if that was mega-PC or playing it real. Still can't to this day.

so a gorilla was a ghostbuster?

You never watched the show did you? THey use the original character's names.

But they changed their appearances. Why? Because you have to pay someone money if you want to use their likeness, and it was deemed not worth it.

The Archie Sonic comics. Most of the characters got redesigns, personality changes and altered memories, but Sonic still remembered how things were before that happened.

Still can't believe the lawsuit that lend up to all of that, that was some ridiculous shit

He gets 'de-wheelchaired' multiple times throughout the show and he usually just drags himself around on his arms until he gets it back or whatever. Some of the situations they get in seem ridiculous for a wheelchair-bound person to handle, but the story-boarders were pretty clever with it and you never really get a sense that it's awkward.

If I remember correctly, it's not really Garrett that is the problem, it's actually the wheelchair.

It defies laws of physics with stairs and other objects, Garretts seat belt disappears many times etc.

Yes, he is part of the core gang and drives the car.

It's been a while since I've seen any of it, but I remember it being a fine cartoon. The characters didn't suffer too much from the blatant diversity quota they were filling either, if anything it added to the potential banter and character moments since now a woman and a GUY IN A WHEELCHAIR (the absolute madmen, they actually did it) were a part of the main cast.

I always had a crush on the goth girl that was never really satisfied, not even by Krysta Kaos nor Indigo Augustine. Big, slanted, sharp yet droopy-lidded eyes, voluptuous blue lips, that tiny upturned nose, drawn, dense eyebrows, pale-to-the-point-of-blue skin, long, full limbs, and the shaggiest head of hair you could ever ask for. She had that detached, laid-back personality that hinted at a deeply affectionate core underneath her cool exterior, and I don't remember there being nearly enough episodes exploring her persona, which is probably the biggest thing wrong with that show. It's criminal how little fan art there is of her. Damn, OP has shit taste, but he did well to remind me of that unpolished gem of a character.

Who doesn't?

She definitely kept things shaggy like the hair on her head. Definitely not the type to ever shave, though she might do a minimum-effort trim like three times a year. She was unintentionally grunge, for sure.

It wasn't a reboot, it was a continuation of the story featuring an old Egon and some new busters. And it was good :)

I you were a feminazi back when you were a little girl.

sup Pan.

>EXB
>Likeable new characters, including a based-as-fuck cripple.
>Ghosts were legitimately more terrifying and creepy.
>MUCH darker and more intense than previous versions, but still having the series' humor and wit.
>Kylie a cute.
>Tony Jay as ghost Captain Ahab and Clancy Brown as future ghost.

>Fembusters
>Obnoxious and unfunny actresses including a blatantly walking "sassy black woman" stereotype.
>Giant logo ghost. 'nuff said.
>Everything is a rehash of the previous film or other ones like Young Frankenstein and The Exorcist.
>Chris Hemsworth as the retarded comic relief secretary.
>Except for maybe the brown-haired one, the ugliest female comedians they could find with the black one actually looking like a gorilla.
