My personal fav nww song. youtube.com/watch?v=NbfxNoYxMhI

-Homotopy to Marie was my first album, and I liked it right away. Years later, I got a CD copy and learned that the album was dedicated to an avant-garde composer who died in a car crash. I have located and visited the tree where this crash took place. It was just a few miles away from the place where I first listened to the album.

-References to Eraserhead are audible in certain selections.

-I have a new theory: The title of an EP (Brained by Falling Masonry) is inspired by the works of Edward Gorey. I believe this to be a plausible theory.

Pic related is the pertinent panel from /The Hapless Child/, an early work by Gorey, and right up Stapleton's weird/edgy street. The all-important, uncommon "brained/masonry" word-combo are present here, and I believe that this is where the NWW EP title originates from.

The context of the panel is an unlucky girl whose relatives are all killed, and consequently comes to a bad end as an orphan. The uncle's death is just one more clause in this train of events.

pic related.

There is a terrible youtube narration-video which is easily found by searching these things; I therefore suppress it here.

What are the essential NWW albums, or rather, which ones aren't worthwhile?

I remember being like 12 years old and buying (yeah buying lmao) Salt Marie Celeste on iTunes and thinking that it was the best fucking thing ever.
I think it's still my favourite NWW album.

I have an everlasting gratitude for Mr.Stapleton because of his contributions to Current 93 discography.

I recommend the following starter kit, in three moods:

1) THE FIRST ALBUM: Chance Meeting... (1979, Surreal, guitar, noise). If you like Pink Floyd or prog in general and have an appetite for the weird then you may go for this.

2) THE "FIRST" ALBUM: Homotopy to Marie (1982, Harsh noise, ambient, tape loops, weird). This is where Stapleton personally felt that he finally got the sound right for the first time, and I guess that's why he styles it the first "real" NWW album, even though it was really the fifth.

3) SOME AMBIENCE: Soliloquy for Lilith (1988, ambient). If you care for ambient music at all, and you haven't listened to this, then you must do so immediately.

If you like 1), then try the second album, "To the quiet men from a tiny girl". Also Bacteria Magnet/"Terms and conditions apply" (later compilations I guess) etc.

If you like 2), then also definitely try Merzbild Schwet, a personal favorite. If you want HARSH SHIT do the 150 Murderous Passions split with Whitehouse, /it actually sounds like Sade's text, I really mean this/.

If you like 3), then try Salt, Painting with Priests, etc, good ambience.

An off-the-hook blog page contains loads of this stuff, mostly FLAC and more obscure file conventions. The drawback is that some are in ape files and so require a bit of work. I post it anyway:

Not but THANK YOU for introducing me to this blog, I considered myself knowledgeable on how to find obscure industrial/noise but seeing this gem of a place being a blog, I realize that I was blind between slsk and rutracker.

For fuck's sake i mean, look at all of the F/i tapes he has! Thank you again!
