because it's all about dialogue first, then they animate. Some AMAZING voice actors.
The german voice actors are way better
As someone who grew up with the German dub, this is wrong. Spongebob's German voice is better but everyone else either sounds pretty close to the English version anyway or objectively worse.
Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and Spongebob were made with stoners as their target demographic. It's why new episodes came on at 8PM instead of in the afternoon/early evening like with Rugrats, Hey Arnold, etc.

Yeah, I just rewatched season 1-3 recently with a bud, and it was still surprisingly refreshing to watch.
Aside from the clever jokes and great voice acting, the two things that make Spongebob for me are the sound effects and the music. They were just so perfectly fitting in every situation.

I agree. The show is SO good, the jokes are absolutely on point. The funniest for me is the health inspector:
Mr. Krabs: Now listen, SpongeBob, when we get to the Krusty Krab, I want you to take that [winks] shovel and bring it around to the back entrance and stuff...err, I mean, stow it in the freezer. Understand?
SpongeBob: I understand, Mr. Krabs, but what do you want me to do with the bo...
And when SpongeBob came in with the body under his hat and was wobbling around while Mr. Krabs watched nervously.
Also obviously the Texas episode where they're making Sandy mad, then she starts chasing them. The bit where you see Patrick get lasso'd and fly off back into the distance shouting "SPONGEBOOOOOOOOOOOB!!!!" then the explosion lol. That's one of the funniest moments in the cartoon ever.

Stuff like this makes me think Spongebob was aimed more toward adults than it was for kids.
The music on Spongebob was so great because alot of it were old sea-shanty tunes. It's so weird when I'm listening to a folk album and suddenly a spongebob tune comes on

The music from the first episode where he makes all those burgers was made by a British musician that is apparently really famous.

I've been rewatching Recess lately and it has a bunch of adult humour
after the second movie everyone just got flanderized to shit and a lot of the things that gave the show its charm (see as this user is on point) and now it's just a bunch of boring recycled unfunny tripe coasting on a name instead of quality content
